Loved this video, Deirdre! Women have been wearing sneakers with skirts and dresses for decades when the commute to their jobs required a lot of walking. They would carry their heels in their tote bags and change into them when they got to the office. I guess people got used to seeing that combination on the street and it finally became a trend to just wear sneakers with skirts and dresses, which is so much more comfortable! Thank you for the wonderful tips and examples you provided! ❤
I did this my whole career, but left my office pumps, never more than three pairs, in my desk at work. We got so much flak for this, all from men. They want us to look sexy for them at every second, regardless of whether we can actually walk, breathe or move. But, they wear flats! I don’t dress for their titillation, I dress only for me! They can look at my face and eyes, but nothing else. None ever got a peak of cleavage from me, either🙂
Yes, you are absolutely right! I did this years ago when I worked in Manhattan. Carried my work shoes in a little tote. If it were now, I guess I could just have worn the sneakers all day!
I am65 and wear New Balance- your sneakers look great and so does your jacket ! Denim has a youthful look . Sneakers are wonderful for being comfy and on your feet for hours.
The denim jacket makes you look fashionable… I own 4 different denim jackets and wear them with skirts and dresses for a casual yet fashionable look… we’re automatically young in spirit… I want to be stylish and you’re channel has helped us take it up a few notches. Recently I flew cross country and had a 4 hour layover in the middle of the country… i people watched for a couple of hours… not too many were following your channel, but they definitely need to. I was appalled at the way both men and women (even young gals) dressed. I swear just about everyone looked like they were in their PJs. Very entertaining.

I like these tips and how you’ve styled your ensembles; especially with the addition of the jean jacket. Thank you!! White sneakers with dresses and ‘no show’ socks really make a difference! They’re an instant game changer and instantly perk up an outfit.
Love the video, I have two things to add, just because you asked. 1. If you have feet issues, consider using orthotics that you would put into flat dress shoes. Most of them will fit the thinner foot beds and allow you to buy those more stylish shoes. 2, buy new shoe laces. I have never figured out why some shoes put shoes laces you can step on even when they are tied. Save the frustration and buy some shorter shoelaces😊.
I've tried white sneakers, we call them trainers here, but I couldn't get on with them being so obvious - I'm only 5 foot tall and felt like a duck, so, I have black sneakers, I much prefer them, they make my feet look more in proportion, especially as most of my clothes are darker shades too. Really enjoyed your tips on wearing white sneakers. I'm 72 and love wearing them with midi dresses but my favourite pair are pale pink as they go with most colours and as you often suggest, elongate my legs (I'm 5' 7" and size 16) my only worry is keeping them clean!! Love the denim jacket. I bought a denim jacket with a hood last year, and I too feel and maybe even look younger when I wear it. It goes with so many outfits, I consider it a real Spring or Fall must have staple.

I bought two pairs of sneakers last year by Tamaris, a cream/vanilla colored pair and a sandy colored pair. I love wearing them as your video showed, with midi skirts and dresses, or casual cotton pants. I like when it is chilly enough to wear my blue or white denim jacket with them. Last year I also found some no show socks that actually stay on the foot that I wear with the sneakers. Here in Poland it is also very trendy to wear pantyhose with a skirt and sneakers. I enjoy this trend a lot.

This year I bought two pairs od great and comfortable sneakers from Lacoste. Luckily, I got them on sale and they can easily elevate every outfit and give me both comfort and style. Great video. I love wearing trainers with dresses and skirts. White is definitely the most versatile. Last year I got a black pair thinking they might be just as versatile as my white ones but they weren’t. I’ve had very little wear out of them. Moda in Pelle is my favourite brand for trainers. I have at least five different pairs from there 🙈

Thanks for the video, Deirdre. I have a favorite pair that I've been wearing for most of my life, and I love the way my feet and legs look in them. They are slip on leather, so they go with everything. I have them in white, black, and cognac. They are Keds Double Decker. I have never been a fan of laces, so these are perfection, almost like a loafer. I love all of the outfit ideas you paired with your sneakers; and ,yes, the denim jacket is very youthful on you. 😁
I'm 5''7", a young-thinking 62, and a maxi dress girl but I've always struggled with dresses and trainers although i actually found some light metallic grey and white sneakers (quite neutral looking so go with lots) with laces but not that lace up (look much neater) which I'm going to try very hard to wear with dresses this summer. This is a useful video. I am very petite and sneakers are not my go to footwear. I really love (need) the elongating look of footwear that shows more of the foot, and/or has a heel. But it's good to know how to style them. I learned that I do have the PERFECT pair of sneakers for summer. I should wear them more. I wear a lot of skirst and dresses and I appreaciated the tips on how to make it work. For instance having the ankle showing when wearing a long skirt and don't even try with it with fuller skirts. That's another lesson. I don't have to try and make sneakers work with everything.
I have thicker legs and ankles even with weight loss. I wear a lot of yoga pants. Anyway I will consider white sneakers. Love the sketchers that Martha Stewart wears, but costly. Just started watching your videos, love them. ❤️
Love sneakers with professional attire as well… Will pair some pixie-type slacks with a classic graphic tee shirt and a blazer and head off to work or even a job interview! Got my last 2 jobs wearing adidas low rise sneakers with dark jeans and a blazer. Shows I CAN dress professional but also I am comfortable for my jobs that require me to be on my feet or walk a lot through out my day. I feel I was more relatable to the public and my clients this way !!!

Wonderful video and great topic! In London recently and it was so refreshing to see women of all ages wearing them with as stylish clothes! That was the impetus I needed to do so also! Felt comfortable and on trend the entire time! In the States, women usually wear athletic wear or very casual, and that is not my style. Thank you for the time you put into this video!
