One thing most people miss is that the finger should be warm when measuring. Just hold that finger in your fist to warm it up nicely before measuring. I had panicked last year because I did everything he mentioned, and still my oxygen levels seemed dangerously low. Immediately I ran to a clinic and the doctor was like, warm your finger nicely and check again. Every time I warmed it, it showed normal levels only. Felt like a fool that day for panicking without knowing how to use it.
@@kshitiznavediya9470 yeah, even I hadn't even heard of this before, or since I went to the doctor. In case, you ever get a chance, please do test if this temperature problem actually exists. I'm very surprised that no one's talking about this

Well everyone who's having Symptoms of covid buy one oximeter it'll really help because rather than going to hospital to get it checked and standing in the queue where there is risk ...we can measure it at home
Thank you for this video. I just bought an Oximeter and have watched several videos to find out how to use and it. Your video was the most complete and informative. My sister is an RRT at a hospital in NY but I live way down in Florida and did not want to bother her with this. Thank you again.
Thanks Dr. I’d like to mention two more common mistakes patients make and often get a wrong reading- 1. The measuring finger must not be cold, as it gives a lower reading. 2. Check the battery level. If you’re and your SpO2 is 99, and drops within seconds to 60- such abrupt changes are often due dysfunctional oxymeter owing to low battery.
@@neovask lol sure, fyi i am a native speaker and im pretty sure i could frame the sentence in that way. however dont take my word for it, here is a link from cambridge dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/hit-the-jackpot
@@AhmedTarig Not convinced. 'jackpot' is invariably linked with financial gains, as explained in the dictionary, through your link and other dictionaries. In the video under reference, there is nothing alluding to financial gains. If you still insist as to the correctness of that expression in this context, it's okay. Good advice. But you omitted the most important point. *PUT ONLY MIDDLE FINGER IN THE METER* as the first falange of this finger contains maximum number of blood vessels in comparison of the first finger.
Thank you for the video I panic every time I checked my wife during sleep she would be low as 93-94 but during day she would be from 95-97 this video made my day better
I have sleep apnea and COPD checked my oxygen level in the middle of the night. Having trouble sleeping it was oxygen was 69 then jumped to high 70s and 110 BPM. Sometimes it's high 80s for oxygen.
Also an important point...it shows oxygen level really low if the batteries have become loose..don't panic remove and the batteries and put it again and check it again
I would also like to know if these cheap ones are reliable or not? In the current state only those are available and the ones which have quite a good reputation are 5x-10x the MRP.
Same with ny father, although he was covid positive and its day 15th and has no symptoms and problems but still reading fluctuates from 91 to 97, I'm really confused
@@arpitakulshrestha1551 yes my father is fine now, his saturation stays above 95, ask your mother to perform regular yoga and take steam therapy regularly three times in a day, emphasize on anulom vilom and pranayam and tell her to drink lots of luke warm water and also tell her to sleep on prone positions. And avoid cold foods, tell her to remain positive, positivity plays an important role. This really helps, and give her good food, don't let her skip meals. If saturation goes below 90, then consult doctor asap, but i think she'll be alright if she has crossed 15 days of covid.

Yes it’s important to wait for a few seconds or minutes, readjust and check other fingers or other hands fingers to get it correct(middle, index and ring finger only). if the reading persistently starts going below 90 then only you should act.. don’t worry unnecessarily
My oxygen levels drops sometimes after meals or workouts. I get suddenly fatigued. And if I check my levels they can drop down to like 90 bur eventually resovles on it's own. What can that be an indication of?
Please bring out vital information in Hindi as well. So that I can send this to my elders. This certainly had very lesser reach because nobody's gonna understand this well.
Hi, I have tested positive for covid and i am isolated at home. I would like to tell everyone to stay home and stay safe as even by wearing mask at all times, I contracted the virus
[BIG MISTAKE IN VIDEO] At 2:10 he says that if after a 6 minute walk the reading decreases, then machin isnt working properly which is NOT TRUE. If your reading decreases, that means you have some sort of a problem (breathlessness) which is a symptom. ( Acc to govt guidelines )
After a walk normally hypoxia should increase (less spo2 value) hence if it decrease (spo2 increase) then the machine is defective. What's is said in the video is absolutely right. Your interpretation is wrong.
@@sudeep4489 yeah ur absolutely right i did get that. thats y i replied on my comment. But all I am saying is it can be very very misleading if u dont think abt it enough.
The oxygen saturation was 95 before walking and dropped to 88 while still walking. It again came to 95-96 after stopping and taking rest for a minute. What should be done in this case?
@@ashishranaware5385 Partly ok but still facing difficulty breathing while oxygen level continue to fluctuate from 87 to 97. 4 RTPCR tests reported negative as well as HRCT chest found no problem. Oxygen fluctuation is at frequent intervals while lying down.
My oxygen levels go down when I'm laying flat on my lungs. I'm on oxygen. I find with my cpap machine i need to lower my oxygen needs at sleep time because the cpap forces more oxygen into my lungs. This was never explained to me by anyone.
These Pulse Oxy meters prices are inflated i.e sold for more than double the price, Please help if some one has already bought on amazon or flipkart and if you find it is worth it buy online after spending double the price.
My daughter is having thrucky tubeat neck, now we treating her for normal breathing, so we cover up the thrucky close it, this case when she sleepingthe oxygen reading reduced untill 92 and 91, when we open the cover its become increase until97
hello everyone.. I have a question, when I check my oxygen saturation, sometimes it shows 90 for a second and straight it goes to 95 and with every heart beat it changes, I am confused as I don't know which one is right? I check for at least 30 seconds or more... can anyone help me please, I am covid19 positive
Do the rubber band check on oxymeter, if it still shows o2 levels it’s useless Chinese one..........try buying anew one from brands like bpl, dr trust, choicemedd, beurer, omron
