I love watching these videos especially watching Cooper play, his style is so clean and articulate.

Yeah. Would love to see more of his acoustic playing. Although he makes me feel very VERY inadequate.

Rhythm guitarist in a Country , Rock & Oldies band. I'm a petite gal and play 00's with modified V /chunkier necks . They're most comfortable for me. Hands cramp when playing slender necks on longer gigs. 🎸🎸🎸

I just bought a Yammie CSF3M yesterday. All solid woods, mahogany binding front and back on the body, beautiful satin finish on the neck. Wonderful sounding, with a nice passive pickup system. $620 Australian. I had to have it!

Did you buy in a store? Where did you purchase for that price? I see them for $699 Australian as of Sep 2024. Thanks.

That is a cool guitar. The Santa Cruz OM Grand is also a great fit for me. I like the Chris McKee unsigned signature Taylor guitar also.

Love Santa Cruz! I totally understand your admiration of the Eric Skye you demoed. Custom ordered my OM Grand with old growth Adi top with Cocobolo back and sides, scalloped Adi braces, hide glue and 42 style inlay. My dream guitar and it sounds as great as it looks. Love your channel, very informative and entertaining! Thank you!!!.

You’re so right Chris, about the stats / neck shapes. I always thought I only wanted a slim taper style and after playing more chunky necks I’ve noticed I do also like thicker necks just as much. That 1 & 13/16ths nut sounds interesting, since I like 1 3/4 sized nut width as well. The added spacing certainly helps for finger style picking imo.

That is one of THE guitars that makes me wish I could play fingerstyle well enough to own it. Stunner. What works for me is my old 000-15S (the old SM), because it strums so well, too. This is right up there with a 12-fret Lowden.....

Get one, and your finger style will improve as you play it more. Oh, and if you write songs, you may find a few in there.

@@texhaines9957 I did that with a Huss & Dalton 00 and concluded that my 000-15S Martin is the guitar that fits best. I cannot justify the expense ratio to my skills.

To my ears there is a sweet spot and it's around the OM and (Grand) Auditorium body shape. Below that, it starts to sound like "small guitar" to me which I don't really like. Above that, you just need more energy to make them sound their best. I fingerpick, flatpick and strum (fairly lightly) so I'm sure that's part of why I gravitate to those middle-of-the-road body shapes.

I managed to get a fairly rough and dinged Santa Cruz D model from 2002 which was affordable. It's just an unbelievable guitar. Definitely just about the best thing I've played. So sweet, resonant and balanced. This one looks amazing, though I've never really gone outside the spruce top, mahogany or rosewood back and sides. Seems like the Cocobolo is closest to Rosewood? Also really want a OO, but a new Santa Cruz isn't easy to afford.

But this is a buy-it-once, keep-it-for-life guitar. I love mine, with the moon spruce top. A bit of a reach, but no regrets.

I love Martin guitars, but I would choose a Gibson LG-2 over a Martin CEO every day. There’s something in the sound of an LG-2 that is quite unique to anything else on the market. And I love that sound! 🧡

I agree. This size is perfect for me. I'm petite and dreadnoughts or even 000 are too big. I have a Stanford 00. I can't afford Santa cruz... Thanks guys for reviewing smaller guitars!🎶🎶🎶

Two guys telling us that size doesn't matter - and Cooper proves that it's only important that you know how to use the "instrument" - so there's hope for so many of us ;-)

Without experience with certain model guitars it is difficult to determine fit with real time playing. All the comments on the process are legit observations. I know with my hands most of the time 24.75 is my scale length. However, trying out a Martin HD-28 full scale I was able to hand it without a problem. I like to manhandle the strings when playing to get the tone and effect I like in fingerstyle mode. Anyway great demo and love Santa Cruz guitars for sure.

Interesting guitar. And I feel badly for people who have problems such that they have to have a specific neck dimension: My guitars are all over the map for that and I play banjo and mandolin as well. No problem switching between any of them. That said, the most comfortable neck is on my small body acoustic, a 1925 Gibson L Jr. Massive depth, much bigger than anything modern, but it doesn’t have a truss rod, so that makes sense. I have heard Eric Skye’s playing and he is amazing. His namesake guitar is too.

There's wood to get to vibrate so decibel wise, smaller guitars can be louder than bigger ones with less effort (like fingerstyle). Which is probably why Jumbo/Superjumbo are more recommended for flatpicking.

Acoustic guitar sound is varable to being inside, outside, small room, big room, strings, how you're feeling, night, day, quiet time, loud time, audience, no audience bla bla bla. I find my short scale's sound better between 11 pm and 3 am. Except when they have new strings. Then they sound best at sunrise. "Come Down in Time" is best played late at night though. Same with "Coming Back To You" (Marty Balin).

Santa Cruz is at another level, beyond... "bigger sound" means higher price tag, usually.

@haapysoxoxo5386

The shape looks odd because of it being a 12 fret, so the upper bout is extended. Check the shape of a Martin 000-15sm. It looks very similar.
