You should have explained to them that not another teen movie is a parody movie thats why they talled like that trying to overemphasise the usual lines that teens movies usually have but in a sarcastic way. Its actually a really good movie. It parodies other teen movies
I kind of feel like that this new generation doesn’t understand parody or satire. Not Another Teen Movie was supposed to be made up of 20’ year olds playing teenagers with cringey lines and poking fun of all the high school movie tropes.
It's hard to understand parody/satire if you have no concept of the source material. Based on this video I wouldn't be surprised if they've never seen any of the 80s/90s movies it's making fun of.
Great choice of clip for Eurotrip. As soon as the poster came up I was humming ‘Scotty Doesn’t Know’! It was that or the ‘9 to 5’ scene with Vinnie Jones
I feel like Not Another Teen Movie would have done better with these teens if they knew it was a spoof/parody film. They took it literally and didn't realise the movie actually makes fun of other teen movies.
Kirsten Dunst was only 17 when she filmed Bring it On and her costar Eliza Dushku was 18. However Gabrielle Union was 27, so she was really the only one who was way too old for her role.
I think it’s so funny how Anthony calls Chris Evans’ character an “off brand Fred from Scooby Doo” because that scenes a Parody of She’s All That and the main male character is Freddie Prinze Jr. who actually plays the live action Fred in Scooby Doo LOLLL!
LMAO... "never seen it, never heard of it" then proceed to sing "Scotty doesn't know" . Oh man, I love Eurotrip... I'm surprised these kids haven't seen it. Also, for Not another teen movie, you have to have seen at least a few of the OGs in order to taste the comedy.. its main plot is a parody after Cruel Intentions and She's all that, but also contains scenes from American Pie, Breakfast Club, 16 candles, ummm... the one with Drew Barrymore when she goes undercover as a reporter in HS ( blanking on the title), etc.
Not them not understanding that Not Another Teen Movie is a PARODY and that them picking the conventionally attractive girl and calling her unattractive because she's wearing glasses and has a ponytail is the JOKE.
I'd love to see them react to high school comedies from the 70's and 80's. I think it would be hilarious to see them react to some greats like American Graffiti, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, etc...
Eurotrip will always hold a special place in my heart. I was in high school at the time, and I had a long-distance relationship with a girl who went back to the Netherlands. Good times.
Also, 17 again was a remake of the 1988 movie 18 again with Charlie Schlatter & George Burns. She's the man is loosely based on the 1985 film Just one of the guys. It has Joyce Hyser, William Zabka (The bully from Karate kid).
I watched 'Not Another Teen Movie' a long time ago, then read online what movies it was making fun of, and watched them all over the next weekend. Fun idea for a slumber party!
Oh noooooo, they didn’t know that Not Another Teen Movie was making fun of the actual 90’s teen movies that would act like glasses and a ponytail made a girl “ugly.” That’s why they make it so obvious that she’s gorgeous. And then they also send up teen sports movies, teen dramas, teen cheerleader movies. I feel like it was ahead of its time.
I feel like when Joe revealed Not Another Teen Movie, he should have prefaced to the kids that it is a parody movie. So everything trope is going to be over the top and ridiculous.
As someone who was a teen in the late 90s it is really weird to see very early pre-9/11 2000s movies lumped in with later ones. 'Bring it On' and 'Eurotrip' feel like they have much more in common with late 90s films like 'American Pie' or 'She's all That' than with later films.
You should have teens react to 90s teen High School movies like 10 Things I Hate About You, She's all that, Clueless, Drive me Crazy, Cruel Intentions, Empire Records, and American Pie
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again , Jaxon and Angel are so funny together , when she tells him to shut up when he tries to guess is hilarious.
Not Another Teen Movie is a great movie but it’s hard to get if you haven’t seen the other movies it’s making fun of. They definitely needed to see the She’s All That clip where they pick the girl before seeing that clip to get it more.
That scene was so funny to me cuz Shes all that, I always thought they picked a pretty attractive girl and made it seem like it was impossible for her to be prom queen so when Not Another Movie made fun of that exact point, I was in tears lol.
Tampons are LITERALLY made to absorb blood. Hands down the best thing to help with nosebleeds! No joke. I was actually getting frustrated they didn't know the movies. LOL. "Not Another Teen Movie" is meant to be stupid and making fun of every every teen romcom!
Easily the football scene when they parodied "Bring It On" with the 2 squads battling out or the scene when Chris Evans accidently confesses the secret. Both those scenes would've made a better reaction
Cracked me up how half of them didn't realize it was a parody (and were basically agreeing with the joke). To be fair out of context it's harder to tell.
I came here to say that I feel slighted that he showed the 2014 version of 17 again instead of the version that was released in the 2000s with Tia, Tamera, and Taj Mowry 😫😫 . Plus, Bring it On is like a teenage right of passage, what are their parents doing with these children? 😂😂
The one in this wasn't a 2014 movie. It was from 2009. Smfh. Also the Seventeen Again starring the Mowry twins and their brother wasn't a version at all. It was a different movie altogether. The 17 Again in this was closer to the 1986 tv movie Young Again
Why did it make me oddly angry when they didn't like Not Another Teen Movie! It's freaking HILARIOUS! It's pure satire! The cheerleaders scene is my favorite
It's a great movie, but did they watch all the movies it parodies? Because if not, it's not a great movie. You have to know the source material to appreciate it.
Love the way the song follows them around Europe in more and more popular versions - from a graduation party band to a huge dance track Plus Lucy Lawless, the pot-less pot brownies, Vinnie Jones…
Now that the teens have done this, invite the adults in (me included) to quiz on lines from the movies- cause your boy has almost every one of these movies memorized :)
If any of them are going to see Not Another Teen Movie they would need to have seen She's All That, American Pie, Can't Hardly Wait, American Beauty, Varsity Blues at the very least to understand any of the jokes, and you can sprinkle in a few 80s ones too like Pretty in Pink , Sixteen candles xcetera
I don’t know why I find myself so surprised at how old I feel every time I watch these videos, like I somehow forget that I’m actually the mom of 2 teenagers now. Aging is such a trip man. 😂
I have a friend who knew guy that named his baby, "McLovin McLoving *last name* ". I spent the next ten minutes laughing, and then another 10 mintues telling my friend everything that kid is gonna go through in his life because of his name. 😂
Scotty Doesn't Know is on my karaoke rotation. The looks I get when I perform it are priceless. It's pretty much the same as the surprised ones here lol.
Yeah, I think they did Not Another Teen Movie dirty. There are tons of clips from that movie that would have gone their attention. Two on the top of my head are the banana split scene (I don’t think they even need to see Varsity Blues to get that, it’s also in the thumbnail) or the Jamie’s Got a Gun scene. (10 Things I Hate About You reference but it’s in so many movies I also think it would be funny without having seen it). The Bring It On scene would have worked too.
Also Joe threw out some of my favorites during that outro. The Girl Next Door and John Tucker Must Die. Plus Scott Pilgrim. I love them so hard. I love you Beth Cooper was alright but I don’t remember a lot of it. And Nick and Norah, the gum scene… I can’t.
