I think i know why Joe didn't tell the teens that he's part of barats and berata video> It’s cause of children never learn to say the first name of staff/teachers and parents, only learned last name. It's similar to my awkward situation as a young adult talking to kids about their parents in our martial art class cause we were all classmates together
The fact that none of them realized that Joe was in that video just staring at them the whole time, and that Joe never pointed out that he used to be part of Smosh. 🤷🏻♂️
Likely to see if they'd notice it was him...if I didn't know it was him (or made the name connection), I'd have figured it was someone that looked like Seth Rogen and that was it.
JOE! As soon as you put on the Barats and Bereta video I was looking to see if they'd recognize you, and then not only did they not even clue it at all, BUT YOU DIDN'T TELL THEM!? I WAS WAITING FOR THE REVEAL! Damn! Now this video doesn't get a thumbs up because my expectations are shattered. JOOOOEEEEE!
@@BrilliantDemise, his features are much softer and rounder (as is natural for younger people) than they are today...that was 18 years ago (so there have been some changes); hell, had I not clocked the name of the duo, I'd have figured it was a Seth Rogen lookalike.
I love that that kid criticized Fred's hairstyle being "not it" while rocking a 90s hairstyle only because it's trendy again and not realizing that Fred's hairstyle was trendy then
No one really realizes styles are cyclical until their children start wearing what their grandparents wore and start making fun of the things they grew up wearing.
am I suddenly old????? I’m only a rising college sophomore and the fact that not only do they not know the videos but they don’t understand the references in some of the videos is so crazy
@@justgenesis yeah they kept showing his face like he was about to tell them so I figured after they gave the thumbs up he would be like “ok glad you liked it because THAT WAS ME!” It’s even called Barats and BERETA you dummies!
Charlie the Unicorn might have been his first video, but Jason Steele's true genius work was Llamas with Hats. "Caaaaaaaaaaarllllll, that kills people!"
It’s crazy what just a few years different in age will do. I’m 19, born in 2005, and knew every single video. But I also had access to the family computer and was reading and speaking incredibly well at one to two years old. So I can remember playing games on the computer in 2007 or so! Pretty insane how fast time flies. I’d do anything to be little again and live in this more simplified internet world.
"Was this targeted at kids?" it was targeted at the internet. The crossover between adults finding violent kids stuff funny and kids finding adult stuff exciting
Undeniable proof that old RU-vid was better. People actually had to be creative instead of just reacting to other people's content. . . . Wait a second....
@@DillonCameron, indeed. Barats and Bereta was formed by Luke Barats and Joseph Bereta...both of whom ended up spending some time on Smosh in behind-the-scenes roles. Joe followed several other former and current Smosh members by making the jump to React, too...we commonly see Trevor (who also works with GMM), Kimmy, Noah, and Keith, while Chanse and Sarah show up occasionally.
I was gonna say... IF THEY DONT PUT A BARATS AND BERETA VIDEO IN HERE I WILL SCREAM... And then they did... And then no one recognized him, thus still making me scream.
24:01 Wait. No one recognised that Joe is in that?? And we didnt get to see their reactions on finding out? What kind of a "react" channel is this??? 😄
Aging can cause people to look totally different, even in a short time...but this is a difference of 18 years. Hell, Joe looks more like an off-brand Seth Rogen in the video than he does today...
I am rolling at the fact that Joe doesn't mention that he used to work at Smosh before React. After Sourcefed, and kinda while he was with The Valley Folk.
Those kids shocked/horrified by "lovely lady lumps" wouldn't have survived the 2000s. And how can you not like Charlie the Unicorn and Shoes?? Those two did not pass the vibe check, at all. Everyone else did.
It saddens me so much to know what these generations have come to. It honestly disappointed me when they thumbs downed because alot of this stuff is genuinely funny. But we’ve come to a point in time where funny isn’t good enough. Hopefully one day we’ll return to a time like this. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
I think it's a little more worrying when these kids are working with several members of Smosh to begin with. Joe, Trevor, Keith, Noah, Kimmy...all of them were/are Smosh members...
I was waiting for you to spring it on them, Joe. Pourquoi, no? It would have been hysterical! And you totally should have shown them "Drinking Out of Cups." Literally my favorite of all time! I guess it's just inappropriate these days but back in the day, effing "iconic"..."chef's kiss."
Joe Bareta looks so different nowadays with the long hair but yeah he should have told them it was him in the video. I miss sourcefed and sourcefed nerd.
Definitely a secret Try Not to Feel Old video for the audience I think. I was just talking about the Shoes video to a whippersnapper at work yesterday.
@@antoniomarin9061 yeah I was surprised he didn't mention he used to work for smosh, but more shocked no one recognized him in the 'mother's day card' video
Im 35, and Ive never felt 'old' but I feel dated now. I was watching these viral vids with friends in my final high school days. Bonded with new college friends over spending nights just taking turns showing each other our favourite videos in 2006,7, etc.
Sad that I’m in the same generation as them, don’t know if they’re the same age as me (18) but I remember practically all the videos, don’t know how they’ve never seen this when most the kids on here literally been watching RU-vid videos as a job since they were young
Haha how did they not realise it was Joe. This needs a part two. So many more could have been included. My favourite is Phillip Defranco. Been subbed since 2007 and still watch him daily. Was his source fed that introduced me to Joe.
I'm so blown away that it never clicked for me that Joe is from BaratsAndBareta. I LOVED them as a teenager (now in my 30s) 😅 I recommend Cubicle War 2006 and The Good Word for anyone checking them out for the first time
Make them react to Happy Tree Friends. I want to see that girl who had the audacity to call Potter Puppet Pals a "sad attempt" absolutely be mentally destroyed by the abject horror of Happy Tree Friends that we all just casually watched as literal children in the 2000's!
I'd have been literally angry with rage if Mother's Day wasn't there. Absolute classic! Fantastic restraint not to say a word when nobody recognised Joe.
I waited that whole damn video for Barats and Bereta and for Joe to reveal that was him and the pay off was zero. Did they all recognize Joe right away? Not at all? I need to know!
Joe himself, Keith, Noah, Kimmy, Chanse, Sarah Whittle...... I'm surprised that they still haven't had Angela. Angela reacting to things is just pure gold.
I'm actually in shock that they didn't notice the video with Joe. It looked and even sounded just like him. If this wasn't teens reacting, I feel like they definitely would've noticed
I think I'm going crazy watching this video LOL that is Joe the producer beretta?????? In the video of the two brothers fighting for the picture for mother's Day.... I swear to goodness it is. How did none of the kids notice it? Also how did Joe producing this very episode not mention that it was him?????
It was meant just for the audience. That's why he kept looking at the camera. I would have loved to see the behind the scenes of him actually talking to the kids about his channel and his time at Smosh.
