As an Orioles fan this was a very accurate portrait of the the Orioles today. Kimbrel is by far the biggest concern. They need to put him on the 15 day IL and get right.

Any O's fan will tell you that our closer is our biggest weakness right now. They were never gonna replace Felix Bautista after he had Tommy John surgery, but are hoping they can piece it together in the 9th. Kimbrel has been roughed up the last few weeks and hasn't been able to close out games consistently. Hyde is loyal and wants to stick with Kimbrel, but it's looking like they may have to employ a closer-by-committee situation. Cano, Columbe, and Webb have all gotten save opportunities in the past few weeks. Look for GM Mike Elias to trade for a relief pitcher or two at the deadline

Our only weakness is Kimbrel. But come October our young bats need to show can handle spotlight. Impotent against Tex

O’s are far from perfect. They could easily be a 500 team if not for a few lucky bounces and late inning escapes. Their main issue is consistency. Starting pitching has been decent but they don’t go deep into games due to high pitch counts. Relievers have to be used tactically since they pitch so much. They go through stretches when they are lights out, then they can’t throw strikes a few days later. The hitting has been inconsistent as well. Most of their homers are solo since they have trouble getting on base. They rarely play small ball so they’ll go several innings w/o doing much offensively. They also rarely go into the late innings with a substantial lead. The good news is they have squeaked out enough wins to have one of the best records and they’ve yet to click on all cylinders. If they can tie up these loose ends, look out!
