He didn't even use an escape pod, but an ordinary ejection seat. Though it does at least appear his copilot ejected successfully, as his cockpit is empty and canopy broken by the time Ahsoka shows up to cut the first pilot's canopy loose.

Several pilots have to have the thought they might died in a clash, but if anyone could survive a clash, it will be them. Clone Pilots were train to load and unload Troopers as fast as they can, and leave the battlefront as fast as they can. The LAAT Gunships were never meant to stay in battle, unless they had air superiority and ground support, but if they don’t have support will be shot down. So Clone Pilots needed to be fast as they can, and prepare for impacts and anti air weaponry.

Another thing: The pilots were probably trained to put the lives of their passengers before their own whenever they do crash land. They land in such a way that their passengers have a chance of surviving the impact while sacrificing themselves

Even carrying characters with plot amour couldn't save those piolets at times, lest we forget how Anakin and Ashoka's Gunship got shot down in Clone Wars season 1 episode 13, and Obi-Wan and Ki-Aid-Mundi's Gunships during the Second Battle of Geonosis. Although, we don't know if Mundi's survived, in those other examples we clearly see or are told that the piolets die, but in Mundi's case we didn't learn, so maybe he was one of the lucky ones.

The sass is strong with this one. That said, the thing I've always wondered is why TCW consistently showed that LAAT pilots were much more likely to die in crashes than their passengers, even though the passengers were unsecured and closer to the ground, while the pilots were fairly high up from the point of impact and strapped into seats that were presumably designed with impacts in mind. I mean, I know WHY, but still.

We’ve seen that in fact clone pilots can exit their cockpit if they want to, but I think most pilots who choose to stay in the cockpit is because they have a crew in their Gunship and they are trying to make a safe landing to save them. Gunship pilots are very underrated in my opinion, they are very badass actually

Hands down the best piece of clone hardware is the LAAT. So much firepower, so versatile. Glad it’s noted they couldn’t reach orbit. Had many an online debate about that fact. Yes Lola Sayu shows this, but the planet is broken in two and is essentially a giant asteroid. I’m surprised it even had normal gravity, but it’s Star Wars..

A system is only "flawed" if its various conversion factors are inconsistent. The metric system aligns almost every type of measurement to base 10, which is far more logically consistent and easy for the human mind to understand, but to say that the Imperial system is flawed is disingenuous.

Well, the pilots COULD have plenty of chances to eject, but when taking into consideration that most times they'd be carrying about a dozen clones alongside the ship, it's in the best interest of the pilot to at least land the craft so the other clones can save themselves, even if the chance is slim.

Thank you for mentioning this because you'd think that galaxy wide war would have some decent seatbelts or safety measures in place. I mean I could get the same results with a broken wagon into oncoming traffic and still live.
