Hey Everyone! In this video, I, Medha Singh, am going to tell you a little about the myth of "facial exercises" that have become a trend these days.
All of us hate fine lines and wrinkles on our faces, don't we? And we are ready to do anything to get rid of them as quickly as possible. And there are abundant videos on RU-vid, telling you about various facial exercises (like blowing out your cheeks or sucking them in, etc). They guarantee results in a week or 10 days and we start doing them without putting in enough research into the consequences of such unnatural and forceful facial movements.
We have forgotten the fact that all of us are born with different facial features. What I mean is that each of us has a different nose shape, face shape, our eyes look different, our lips maybe thick or thin or somewhere in the middle.
But all of us are running after that "contoured cheekbone"and sharp jawline. As a result, we are losing our natural beauty.
PLEASE REMEMBER, you look the best with the features you were born with. Running after a celebrity's figure or face, the shape of their lips or nose, will only make us feel lost and frustrated. IF YOU WANT TO BE TRULY HAPPY, LOOK AT YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR AND ADMIRE YOUR OWN BEAUTY. LOVE YOURSELF FIRST AND FOREMOST. HAVE CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF.
Now, why are we talking about facial exercises here?
Because facial exercises, like sucking in or blowing out your cheeks, cause wrinkles. Shocking, but true!
There are two major types of wrinkles:-
a) Static Wrinkles
b) Dynamic Wrinkles
a) Static Wrinkles are those that appear as we age, naturally.
b) Dynamic Wrinkles are the wrinkles that can be avoided by changing some of our habits.
These wrinkles are formed when we smile, cry, or make any kinds of facial expressions.
When you sleep with your cheek pressed against the pillow for a long time, you will get wrinkles in the long- run caused by sleeping in this wrong position.
Stepping out in the sun without covering your face, will definitely invite wrinkles at a young age, much before you would have naturally had those wrinkles.
A lot of us a habitual of touching our faces for no apparent reason. This habit also gives rise to premature wrinkles.
Practicing facial exercises like pulling your skin upwards, sucking your cheeks in, pouting, will cause wrinkles. You may lose the "fat"that you hate so very much but all you will be left with, is a face with wrinkles. Won't you regret doing those facial exercises then?
Dynamic wrinkles can be seen as the vertical and horizontal lines on your forehead, crow's feet(the wrinkles that form in the corners of your eyes when you smile), sagging cheeks, lines on the corners of your lips, prominent laughter lines, lines on your neck.
WE ARE CAUSING THESE WRINKLES THROUGH OUR HABITS.
THESE HABITS ARE:
i) WRONG SLEEPING POSITION
ii) SUN EXPOSURE
iii) FACIAL EXERCISES
iv) A CARELESS ATTITUDE TOWARDS OUR SKIN AND HEALTH
THE SOLUTIONS to this are:-
i) STOP DOING FACIAL EXERCISES!!
ii) Sleep on your back
iii) Don't touch your face unnecessarily
iv) Apply sunscreen when going out
v) Keep your face expressionless for half an hour everyday. Make this a habit. Set aside a time everyday when you will be absolutely expressionless.
