I've been using my new Thomas spoon lure in watermelon color, but lately a gold kastmaster with a pink power worm in the hook but I broke it half to get it to stay on the treble hook better.
I just rig it exactly like I would for kokanee. One small piece of scented corn on each hook. On occasion I'll use a small worm when the corn doesn't produce.
I've completely changed my fishing game with all of your tips. started consistently catching fish in ponds and lakes i had zero luck with before. I am definitely Addicted. Thanks guys
Hey Adam, what lure did you use that you were able to stuff with bait? I like that idea and have kicked around the idea of baiting up a lure but haven't found a good lure that I could bait up and maintain any kind of action. You have a great idea there. Brilliant minds think alike! 👍
Preston Ward the ones he’s talking about in this video. Brads cut plugs have a little chamber with a foam sponge inside. It has a little elastic retainer to keep it shut and there are holes on both sides of the plug so the scent can come out while you’re retrieving or trolling. I just got a few last weekend and they worked like a charm. Nice 2.5lb rainbow and another smaller one!
Not always the lure dude fresh stocker trout will hit almost any shiny lure. Finding the fish is the hardest part especially with how secretive everyone is. I will usually try a kastmaster first, then cast and retrieve a water bobber with worm/mousetail, and if that fails resort to powerbait, which kinda feels cheap to me but it catches fishies
The kokanator with a worm trailer and some Special Mix smelly jelly behind a beer can troll is hard to beat on my home trout reservoirs.....but the Brad's Kokanee Cut Plug is a close 2nd! Fun to fish, fun to tie up, and I love the built-in scent chamber!! It a go to for sure!
My setup is good. I catch lots of trout with it trolling. First you have a three way swivel attached to your main line. Then your weight on it and you connect your braided litter. The leader is about 3-4 feet long and the that is connected to a ball bearing swivel. At the end of that swivel is your dodger. At the end of your dodger you have a 10-24 inch mono or fluorocarbon leader. Then I use Mack’s weeding rings, hoochies and the pink/orange cut plugs. I have caught more than 15 trout one day and only 3 came off.
New to fishing and all your videos have been so helpful. I appreciate how you guys go into detail and explain it in a way that's easy to understand and stay with. Thank you.
Started running and testing the Brads KCP vs the original tried and true wedding ring lures, both behind the Brads Extreme Kokanee dodgers. What I've found is that the action and the different scents you can add to the KCP far exceed the wedding ring (although they still catch fish). KCP was slaying both stocker rainbows and high mountain fish. I've never hooked more fish!
I just started trout fishing and use panther martins and basic spoons. Only landed one fish so far, but have had several hits. Only been fishing a couple of times for about an hour each. In Oregon, Willamette Valley.
Most success I've had in Colorado was with a 5cm shad crankbait. I'd love if you guys did a video on fishing fast water by the way, the streams here in Colorado tend to be pretty quick!
Recently moved to an area that has a lot more trout, and I love your guys videos, they help a lot and I had no idea they even liked lures! Good luck and thanks for the vids!!
I always use small mepps or blue fox spinners for trout all with a treble hook on the back. Might look into these though as the ability to put bait in the lure seems really good 😎👍
I have a lake right by my house that was just refilled and currently only has trout in it. Its pretty interesting what all you can catch them on when other fish aren't beating them to it!
I use the super bait for trout here in Chilean lakes with a great success. With a mystery attracting oil, with color like predator blood and a bigger hooks.
Love all your videos, keep up the great content ! I would love to see a fast moving river tutorial for multispecies. I have been going to the Spokane river the last few days and it is moving so quick! I have noticed by state line (Idaho) its moving slower and fish are jumping in the evening hours but cant seem to hook any. Been using mainly a floating rapala. Tonight I'm going to try a panther martin with a worm. My setup is a quantum q ray 40 reel and an abu Garcia conolon 300 composite rod.
I’ve been crushin em with the Rapala original, and segmented! I’ve been fishing a little here and there for years, but I’ve gotten heavy into it this spring... gotta pass the time until Elk season!
Stuff it with garlic scent, and then add a single cured corn nugget on the trail hook. I've done very well fishing for trout on plugs this way. Sometimes the plug out fishes my custom wedding rings, and they slay um!
I've been whooping the cutthroat, Kokanee, and rainbows in western Washington lakes. Definitely my go to for catching. Pro cure scents with octopus front hook and a treble rear. Sometimes I tip the rear hook with some juiced up shoepeg corn.
I have no way to troll for fish, but still watch trolling videos. The closest I come to being on a boat is borrowing a friends kayak. I still try my best for everything and always love learning! I may be addicted to fishing...
