I do a lot of trolling for trout and redfin here in WA and I love the Halco range (trout colours) - RMG Scorpion 35 / 52, Laser Pro 45, Poltergeist 50 (deep and crazy deep) and the new TB55's. Another WA local lure that I like is Razor Edge Scout 45 V2 (ghost rainbow trout).

Love the Pro Lure ST72 and there's some terrific trout patterns in the shallow and deep versions. The Prolure Paddle Grubs are an awesome soft plastic and I've also had success on the Fish Arrow Shads.

Love the Ecogear range and strike Tiger for plastics especially for the waters i fish down here in Tas. Sooo much awesome tackle to use and choose from depending on the conditions and types of water your fishing.👍👍

I generally fish nymphs and small creatures, smaller wriggle tails and flick baits on a circle hook with a small running bead sinker, or unweighted. Pierce through the nose, run around the hook, Pierce through halfway downish so the nose is sitting on the eye of the hook and the tail is straight. This separates the weight and allows the lure to sink a lot slower and flutter down.

Gday Alan. Great video. Loved it. Fantastic how you always manage to cover things to help out beginners but also more experienced folk are likely to pick up things also. Seeing all your rods/reels in the background made my mouth water. So I wonder if a video covering all your rods & reel setups and what application you use each one for, might be too much to ask. Apologies if you've already done such a video. I've learnt so so much from you. Keep doing what your doing. Mitch. 👍

@fishingmad Год назад
Thanks Mitch, I really appreciate the feedback. Countless hours and effort goes into putting these educational vids together so im always happy when people comment they have been helpful. In regards to the rods in the back I have a members area were I do lots of vids on workshops, comps, species guides and lots of content on the gear which I use and how I use it. www.fishingmad.com.au/member it might be worth looking at that. Hope that helps, thanks for watching and supporting and have a great day.

Hi Alan. Great coverage of lures. I spin the Alpine lakes in North East Vic, mainly with Tassies in the 7.5gm. No doubt that the twin single assist hooks hold on much better than trebles on wire. One thing that's important is to ensure that your line is tight as the lure sinks as the trout will often hit the lure on the drop and you need to have the hooks and lure "connected"via a tight line. Cheers, Chris.
@fishingmad

Thanks for the tips! Really appreciate it. Great to know that you have been using the 7.5g with success.

Hi Alan very nice and informative video this one,I find very good the rapala lures count down 5 and even the smallest one it's deadly infact I've got my biggest trout using this tiny lure. Even Daiwa double clutch are fantastic, and strike pro spoons are good too for me. Thanks for your fantastic work my friend 👏 😀 👍 ciao ciao

The tassie devils were in the $2 bcf bin along with a heap of fat cranks 38s! What a bargain, 10 lures for $20. One day they will have Daiwa 2xclutches i hope..... one day. I lose too many lures to justify spending $20 on a lure. Good video.

My go to for Trout is a 50 mm 5 g sinking crankbait made by Tsurirnoya usually usually the gold colors are money!
@davemcdave5896
@davemcdave5896 Год назад
Not sure they’re my favorites but what has been successful for me earlier this year has been 90mm hardbodies (what I would have called a stick bait) in that old silver or white with a red head pattern. Trolled behind the kayak I’ve picked up a few nice browns on those. The other is the 60mm rmg poltergeist in a crawfish or Redfin pattern. Again trolling behind the yak and diving to 3m. I’m usually targeting Redfin with those around the edge of lakes at about 2.8kph but the browns have been beating them to it!
@fishingmad
@fishingmad Год назад
Awesome, Great suggestions there Dave. Those poltergeist are deep divers which is interesting, wonder of the waters your fishing are a bit deeper.

The old Wonder Wobbler still works in the Alpine lakes in NE Victoria. They cast like a bullet and are still very effective (and cheap). Cheers, Chris.

@@fishingmad AS for soft plastics and they were use on fly rod uncle use them on split cane fly rods. They were called SLIDERS.Very tiny. He used thin copper wire in hook to make lock even tiny hidden weight hooks of to day would destroy the plastic in question top stream plastic anyway..

The strike tigers have been AWESOME the past few months, especially their little grub styles. Any thoughts on using snap/power clips for quick switching hard body lures? I’m always pausing on your reel in shots to check
@fishingmad
@fishingmad Год назад
I only use quick changing snaps when squid fishing. I prefer tying uni or loop knot straight to jig heads, as the clip can impact the swimming action and sink rate. Agreed on the strike tiger grubs they are a great option
