This is breaking my heart. It killed me to have my mum in a nursing home. Alzheimer’s is so cruel. Thank you for making this video. I wish there were cheat codes in real life.
its so interesting to see this mod and how it works because i remember earlier this year adeepindigo had a lost in the family and from what i recall this is how the mod was born.
Thank you for covering these mods 🙏🏾 I was interested in them but the topic was a bit heavy and I didn't want to experiment on my own until I saw a review.
Listen...the nursing home play made me sooooo sad omg. I wasn't expecting to have some real feelings about this lol I had to put my mom in a home for a while, so the realism of this mod is like...i guess too real. Thinking about putting it in my game but then again I don't wanna be home crying about a dang videogame LOLOL this was a great video. Love your content!
Maplebell's mod is so detailed! Amazing work. It really brings home the difficult decisions and costs involved in eldercare. I can't make a comment on her Patreon, but in the interest of education, I'm gonna post this here because it's good adulting info to have. Medicare is the national health insurance everyone qualifies for when they turn 65 in the US. It's an 80/20 plan for doctors and hospitals, with a premium + some deductibles. You gotta sign up for your drug plan separately, but you can get additional or all-in-one coverage via private insurers. However, it doesn't pay for nursing homes. Like, at all. There's a caveat if you need skilled nursing care after, say, a hospital stay, but that's only up to 60 days. This is kinda important for everyone to know, because most people think it will. Nope. However, Medicaid will. It's just like the mod - it's dependent on being low income. I think Maplebell just mixed the words up. But like the mod shows, because nursing home care is so expensive, it's important for families to consider this when saving for retirement. Her numbers are right on the simoleons. I know, none of us wants to think about it, but we're all living longer, and being dependent on Medicaid for help in your remaining years isn't...well, let's just say it's not ideal.
It is possible to play out a nursing home without mods. Without mods, you just place a bunch of elderly Sims in the same building and let the Sims socialize with each other. You may have 1 nurse and 7 elders, or you may have 2 nurses and 6 elders. And you are just allowed to control the nurses. The elders are off-limits. Only the nurses are allowed access to the kitchen, and they must feed the elders on a regular basis. The elders must be kept happy as much as possible so they will be able to enjoy their old age and rest in peace. The nurses themselves may be Young Adult or Adult, and they should have their own bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. The nurses can invite Teenagers over to help out with the responsibilities. The Teens can be Nurse Aides. They are also non-controllable. Without mods, you can also implement a Life Insurance policy based on aspiration fulfillment. If the elderly Sim has already fulfilled one aspiration, then they will be given a Life Insurance policy of $10,000, and this amount will be directly added to the Household Funds of the Loved Ones / Relatives / Friends. For every fulfilled aspiration afterwards, another $10,000 will be added to the Life Insurance policy. Of course, everything is manual. Not automatic.
Hey Oshin! Thank you for this video. It always brightens my day. I’d like to ask you a question. For your gameplays- do you come up with the storylines as you go? Or do you always sit and plan out storylines for awhile before actually implementing anything? (Or maybe even a mix of both??) I find myself with a mental block when it comes to fun storylines to play, or how to go about my sims lives to be intricate and fun. So I’m curious about your habits.. maybe it’d help me with figuring out how to make for fun gameplays for myself like you always do!
Hey! Sometimes I go with the flow but normally I have a general idea of what’s going to happen, or the background before I get started. In my growing together gameplay, I play pretty freely. I use a lot of inspiration from my own life, others experiences, tv shows, books - anything. And I bring that to my game and make it my own. Idk if that answers your question or not. But I have a video on it too!
Oshin! I am noticing the more frequent videos and I’m so excited to see you on my feed more and more 🎉 I love your content and I hope you’re taking care of yourself.
Hey, thank you for showcasing the mods.. These were new to me and they are really well made. Can't wait to play with them. Hope you have a wonderful day ☺
I need this mods . Wow I like this. I see it is expensive, they need an insurance mods . Experience with death on here is realistic. I understand all too well.
Hi Oshin!! your videos are always so good. I was wondering if you can upload some or a few of your sims with all of the cc they have. Like a sim dump. If not I understand. Thank YOUUU
Do the sims have to live in the same household as their elder parents? Also... love your daughter sim. She looks so unique, not like a generic randomized CAS sim.
Lol.. You do not need to use that feature. Simply use self pay, as I did in the video. Medicare is basically a system where the government helps you pay for your health cost. VA benefits is a system where you receive benefits and help based on being a veteran in the military. If this doesn’t apply, just use the self pay option ☺️
