When you decide to style your hair the next day after deep conditioning do you apply an oil to seal in the moisture then put it in chunky twists or you don’t add any product ?because I tried to style the next day but my hair was super dry 😫💔
1. Leave your hair alone; this doesn’t mean neglect it 2. Don’t wear super tight styles 3. Wear light extensions 4. Stretch your hair - helps with detangling 5.Wear chunky twists 6. Wash your hair / Break it into 2 days 7. Be patient + be consistent
*3 Just don't wear extensions at all *5 Wear 2 strand twist, doesn't matter if they're chunky or mini twist *6 Wash your hair. There's no reason to break it up into two days.
@@nAme-gx6uh My hair was so damaged from a kiddie perm. Some of the breakage was down to less than an inch. I cut it all off, I kept it moist all the time using the green house method even under wigs hat and bandanas. I used just the clear basic plastic caps, leave in conditioner, and water. I only washed it monthly (Mielle Organics Cowash), I would rinse with water while in the shower, but didn't wash it with shampoo. I used Jamaican peppermint oil on my scalp. My hair was always moist. I didn't use combs or brushes, I separated with my fingers, and just put loose twist in, so there was no pulling on my hair and I never trimmed it. My hair grew so fast. One day I decided to straighten it, it was down my back, I couldn't believe it, and yes I have course hair like the girl in the video and never had long hair before. It's really all about no pulling on the hair, no heat, and keeping it moist. All of this achieves growth and prevents breakage. Our hair grows monthly anyway, it's a matter of retention. Oh, and when I wear wigs, I don't glue or use the little combs, I use hairpins to secure them, don't put any tension on your hair.
my hair is growing so fast that all the stylist at the salon is shocked and say it is, I get scalp treatment once a month and medium twist or braids every 1 and half or 2 weeks. I use rosemary, peppermint oil, sulfur 8 grease or a peppermint hair food grease, and design essential products like the leave in conditioner (recommend by a license stylist manager). Once a month I wash my hair with my twist still in and then redo it. Sometime I use a homemade greentea conditioner on my wash day. My hair grows fast, I can't speak for anyone else. eating low protein seems to slow my hair growth down.
@Coco why do you use heat on your hair or have your head by fire? Sulfur was in water that our ancestors got in. You apply it only to your scalp and you shouldn't be putting heat and hot stuff in your head. Your head is not catching on fire from sunshine on sulfur. You don't use alot of sulfur grease.
@Coco you aren't suppose to put the stuff on your actually hair, just on your scalp. I only put leave in conditioner and shea butter cream on my actual hair.
Great video ! When you said something like “even if you’re tired, and it’s late, just twist/braid your hair before your sleep, it’ll be easier for the next day” I actually got up, took of my bonnet and braided my hair. I’m motivated to go back to my hair routine. It’s so easy to be lazy. You’re so right with washing your hair at least every two weeks. I’ve noticed tremendous growth (retention) when I started doing that and then twisting to last about 10 days. Subscribed ❤️
Woww!! Indeed I've learnt a lot. Thanks. The tip about "leave your hair alone" and avoiding tight braids is really true. I usually keep my hair in twists and I might get a braid with extensions just 2 / 3 times in a year. And my hair has practically grown in length and health than my fellow friends I started keeping my hair with. And I've learnt more from you!🥳
I started doing hair washing in 2 steps also. Protective style take down, prepoo / detangle/ big twists. Next day rinse out prepoo, wash, condition, protective style.
Yeah! You're right, for many years I thought long hair was from genetic growth until I started my own hair journey. I did a 3 months protective style in from Feb to May and when I took it out everyone was amazed. Funny thing was, same people who always laughed at my tiny short hair were first to notice the growth. Although, I didn't leave my hair uncared for all through this period. Also, I've now decided to always add light extensions to my ends cuz I feel like I've trimmed out all the growth that I got from my 3 months protective style since I got obsessed with trimming my own ends🥺
Yessss! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 when you care for your hair properly, it blame games with genetics will stop. I think adding the extensions will help with the over trimming your ends.
@@missladyzee44 it didn't even itch at all cuz I always wash weekly. I regret not knowing about hair care earlier cuz I feel like I wasted the 6 weeks protective style that I did few months before my hair growth journey. I left it uncared for. Even when it began to itch, I went to my stylist for a wash but she said "they don't wash braids" Imagine! She asked me to clean with cotton wool and spirit instead, which actually worked. But I didn't notice any growth cuz I wasn't giving my hair the right care then
1. Leave your hair alone. 2. Avoid super manipulative hairstyles. 3. Keep your hair stretched. 4. Wash your hair. 5. There's no miracle product to grow your hair. 6. Be consistent if you want to see results. 7. Hair constantly grows unless one has a serious medical condition. Learn to retain length. 8. Every person's hair grows at a different rate. 9. Be patient (and consistent). Take care of your hair and give it time because good things take time.
Thanks for sharing.. I just redid my coils of two weeks..washed conditioned and oiled my scalp to seal in the moisture..i can't wait to see the results after a few months
I solely agree with you beauty is not suppose to be Pain, those certain people's be twisting/ turning your head fast doing hair / scalp too tight the kind of people's that I donot allow on my head,.. it's a lesson to be learned from this when u said a mouth full. My head can't breathe/ my scalp show couldn't breathe. It can breath if I choose to "keep away from them. Amen
Your hair has grown so much from the other video you did last year! Amazing! And you're so beautiful by the way! God bless! Thanks for the tips! LOL "some of your hairstyles are so tight, you cant even move your neck" LOL! I love your no nonsense tone about this too! VEry simple tips but effective! *New subbie!
I go one month without washing my hair when in braids (crochet braids), however it is deeply moisturized before and I see growth in length and volume. However I went longer this time due my inability to wash it due to medical procedure, when I removed braids my hair was SUPER dry but no breakage. Presently giving braids a break and moisturizing every 2 days.
Next time, you could rinse and oil your hair to moisturise it before taking it out (wait for it to dry a bit of course as I don't recommend taking out wet hair), but it's healthier to do the takedown on moisturised hair as the takedown process is such a rough process especially if done on dry hair.
@@lookingatdaisies9901 couldn't bend over to rinse, wasn't taking showers either only baths. Hence me not washing hair. I really should have moisturized and oil though. Thanks for your advice.
@@keishajones5899 no problem, yes moisturising(but just water) and sealing is what I mean, for the past year I've settled into doing the barest minimum and currently only get water in my hair via showers or weekly hair washes no spraying and I forgot the spray bottle was a thing and referred to rinsing 😅
I had surgery too, what I did was I moved my wash day sooner than later--I washed my hair a week before my surgery date so I can heal and not worry about my hair.
God Bless you and Family My Darling, we have yo listen to you because you were there before us and the evidence is clear ,as my PaPa always say that ( it is fools that doubt prooves) Thanks a lot
I tried a Kativa Keratin Post-treatment KIT On my dry, dye-ravaged, bushy 4c hair! It worked! Less shedding, softer, not as dry, tonged better and less breakage! Along with Pureplex, Inkey and BBlonde hair bond kit and Asian Soja oil. I like natural remedies but I prefer new hair technology! I like these videos. Helpful. Try Keratin treatment, it saved my hair! I just need to find a good hair dye that doesn't ruin my hard work, Indigo henna dye didn't work for my grey, resistant roots! Uk 🇬🇧
Another one is Nigerian hair stylist. They will damage ur hair and even if you keep complaining they too will complain that it’s a virgin hair and it’s not easy to handle and even charge u twice. That’s one of the reason I hate making my hair cos the breakage I get just from them trying to comb my hair makes me want to cry.
I sometimes make my own hair o. If someone is to make my hair, I tell them how exactly to do it! Na me go pay them no be free dem go do am. Also go to someone who understands and cares about hair. I always wash my hair myself as well.
Like your content, but one thing I'll like to emphasize is that, these techniques that we do is to retain the length of our hair that grows out of the root. The function of hair growth is of a biological design. We dont control growth. What we control, is the retention of our hair's growth.
YESSSSS ! People look at me crazy when I say that . They May say “ this technique makes your hair grow, or wigs make your hair grow” . I get side eyed when I say “ your hair grows regardless , long hair comes from retaining length. It’s always growing ….”
@@briannarichardson1596 LOL. That yes resonates with me, its the relief that somebody gets it. But girl don't waste your breath on these folks. They're just gonna continue giving you the side eye. I can tell you most dont know how the body works. Plus the narrative in our community regarding hair is powerful. Hold your peace. Waste of time to going down that hair rabbit hole. Kill dem dead, its the weaves and braids.
Well, you’re right to some extent. Long hair comes from length retention but a faster hair growth rate paired with proper hair retention habits will get you to your goals quicker and that growth rate can be influenced. Things like: diet, scalp stimulation and overall scalp health (ie. Dandruff, fungal infections) can affect the rate of growth. But on average every person has her own average growth rate particular to themselves, predetermined by genetics but the influence of these other factors could slightly increase or decrease it at certain varying periods. I hope I just made sense because for some reason I can’t put it out like it’s in my head 😂
You mentioned two important points: 1) No product gives you miraculous growth. 2) Don't compare your growth to others. I appreciate this. One thing I didn't like was the thumbnail which felt a bit like click bait. I know views matter to content creators but writing 12 weeks growth on the thumbnail didn't sit well with me. I still appreciate your content but wanted to mention this.
I honestly can’t straight to the comments to see if anyone else believed her. I may still watch but that’s a lot of growth for 3 months, that is a verrrrry lofty claim.
Some people did not grow up wearing their hair out or see older women that the look up to wear their hair out so it doesn’t come easy to them. There’s this pressure for black women’s to always look done and by this they mean put it in extensions.
@Hard Choices Official make sure ur still moisturizing it tho. Like say if u have two strand twist make sure u still put products in it like leave in conditioner and oil that’s all I do
It feels like I’ve had a twa forever now. It’s been 4 months and my hair is still very short and is breaking off like crazy. The medication I’m taking I think is partly to blame. But I also had bleached hair and then after a few months I colored it black. So I guess I am the actually to blame. At this point I don’t know if to bald it off again or just leave it and trim little by little until all the damaged colored hair is out. I know diet has a lot to do with it. I’m trying to increase my water intake as well as eating healthy well balanced meals.
@@flamboyant731 Gurl.... the struggle.... I started back using a product that keeps my hair moisturized. I will do 1 month of olaplex and then try the rice water regimen after. And as you mentioned, trimming is a good idea too.
Please am Edna from Ghana 🇬🇭 but working in UAE 🇦🇪 as nanny. Please I lost my hair within a month Please help me please am begging you because I've tried everything that I could use and you know this work, we don't have enough freedom. Please help me🙏🙏🙏🙏
I wear mine short in an afro. That says a lot since these days are modern times. I doubt natural black hair can go waist length but it is good at shoulder-length and have it rest there.
Keep going. I did a huge big chop about almost two years ago.it’s tough but water water and oils . Protein mask and no tight styles. My hair is chin length now
When you say "leave your hair alone while it's in a protective style" does this mean you don't add oils to it while your hair is in its protective style? & of no, how often can you add oils so as to not have your hair become dry?
You're welcome 😊 girl..I love your hair 😍 its so beautiful...an I also learnt a lot from u thank u...gods blessings 🙌 to u an your family. Bye 👋 stay safe.
Oh wawoo i have loved the way you have demonstrated about our natural hair growing, some of of us we didn't know the period of the hair growth, when heare about any quick hair growing product we just wonder and start looking for where we can get that product so, we thank you so much for the beautiful growing hair lesson God bless in Jesus's name
Is it wrong to leave my hair in a puff for like a week? Because I don't know how to make my hair and going to the salon every week or 2 weeks is a bit difficult.
I subscribed🙂 because U are so correct….leave your hair alone….not neglect it but all those manipulation type styles and wearing wigs with glue or heavy extensions #UareOnPoint🙂
Wow 😲😳😳😳😲 I really love your advice indeed may God bless you sweetie And please what I want to ask is, me personally my hair is too short to do with cornrow braids and twist so in this case how do I go about it to put it in protective style
But I have a very soft hair and my edges come out and the back of it sometimes when I use gel but it is 4c,...can u please help me get a routine for it to grow. The hairstyles I am allowed to have at school are cornrows with no extensions...I am a teen plssssss help
Can I wash and condition my hair while wearing mini twists? I mean it's not yet time to take down the mini twists so can it be washed and conditioned like that?
