Another thing that helped me was getting rid of patterned furniture. Solid neutral furniture has helped so much. Then I just put pops of color in with a few pillows and curtains. Also cutting down on the amount of pictures I had on the walls.
This was great. I love the natural boundaries tip. If the blanket basket is spilling over then it's edit time! If my paper box is getting more paper stacks next to it not in it then it's deal with it time! Easy to remember. Thank you.
Yes-boundaries!!!! Everything needs a home! You don’t need a bigger house, you need LESS ITEMS. Think about what you TRULY use and reach for on a daily basis.
It so depresses me that I always have a messy home! I keep telling my husband we need to get rid of things and he says we just need to organize, so he buys more organization! I tell him no we need to get rid of things, but he won’t. 🤦♀️
I had a 16 piece dish set, I reduced it down to 4, and now my cabinets look less cluttered. I realized I wasn’t using over half of my dishes anyways since I live alone. Life changing. ☺️ 💕 👧🏽 ☮️ 💫
To solve laundry issue, i just go to laundromat once every 2 weeks. While it's cleaning i catch with friends, schedule appts, read, or research something on utube.
This is literally the most helpful decluttering video I have seen. 🎉😮 It is so practical but also such great perspective and points that you share!! Thank you!
You're my fave minimalist you-tuber and I watch them all! I love your honesty, trying to stay on top of it can be such a battle. It's definitely easier with a lot less stuff!
I sort my laundry as is becomes dirty. So when i pick it up i put it ito my laundry categories, 3 baskets in my closet. 1. Darks 2. Things I'm going to bleach 3. Towels (not dark, not going to bleach very small load that i collect for about a month off to the side I dont wash with the towels) This way when I'm ready to do laundry, I can just grab a basket. I hate extra steps so i skip the sorting step by doing that as things become dirty. I while i have back up sheets, for emergencies, I don't use them. This means when i wash my sheets I cant go to bed until they're done and back on the bed. Otherwise I know I wouldn't wash the second set before I needed to change my sheets again. This forces me to keep up with my laundry.
Hi there sweetie pie love your videos I always try to do a load a day and I do my dish washer every day I follow the fly lady great ideas hope you are well love from Eugenie your friend xxx
I’ve decluttered so much, but I feel like my house is so messy. This video made me realize I just leave a lot of floaters around. I love that I have a term for it now!
Such great advise! I am constantly cleaning and I definitely can use to take a bunch of stuff away. Thank you for making this video. I found it very grateful
We do the same thing with dishes and cutlery, sooo much easier! I have two moving boxes that hold the rest that we don't use for when something breaks or company comes over. Two other boxes got donated. It was so much unneccesary stuff! My oldest two have only one kind of toys in their room at a time. The rest is in a storage container. They can swap Barbies for Playmobil or Lego. The toys in the toy room are a different story, but I'm working on it!
Thank you for this video. Your ideas are always motivating!! I like the basket idea of putting overflow items that don't have a place yet and then dealing with it! My struggle is having stuff on the stairs or two things here two things there.....it looks messy. I can use your idea of boundaries for this problem. Thank you!!
My house is super decluttered. But we are a homeschooling family of 6 which means most days, we are 5 people at home all day. Dishes are my nemesis 😩. I don't have a dishwasher(no space for I) with 4 kids using plates and cups and and and. I can spend my entire day at the kitchen sink and still be busy washing. We only keep what we use and no extras.
I like the 1 & done. We put our paper shredder by our trash & recycle bin. Once we check the mail, we shred or recycle it right then & there or place in proper bill drawer. We got tired of papers cluttering in piles in the kitchen. It has stopped the paper clutter. Thank you for your videos.
Definitely have too many hotspots in the house right now. Too much surface area covered and used as holding areas/junk drawers haha. Working on it though!
I'm still even now , on my two and half year decluttering journey with myself and my family. We got rid of / mostly donated everything to charity. I keep finding more. But I'm on a kick to get rid of to much so I want to stop .But yes , it still feels messy sometimes. I have some things like beautful artifacts that are antiques from loved ones thst passed away , grandparents ect .Those are all housed in my China hutch .But somehow when my health issues are kicking my rear , I don't feel well it gets so cluttered. I don't know 😕
I knew someone who did a bin rotation every day. 7 bins in the garage and each contained the kids clothing, schoolwork, toys, books, etc. for the day. This is extreme but hopefully the example gives you some ideas!
@@FancyThatwithCandice thank you for your reply but unfortunately I don't have a garage. I get rid of the outgrown clothes very fast. I think my biggest issue is toys and knowing which toys to keep and how much toys to have for each kid.
What about childrens books that I enjoyed with all 7 But we don’t read any more ? I weeded through. But too many left Love your home very relaxing. And anti anxiety! Xx h
@@FancyThatwithCandice thank you I started watching your channel And sent my designer there just to see how calming your space is for me Would you tell me Is everything white ? It’s just so calm I suffer greatly with anxiety Worsened since covid and try hard to hide it From the 7 children I homeschool Lol
Ooo forgot to say maybe you could do a video on how when you get more on top of the mess, your 'acceptable' level of messiness becomes less so you start tidying before it even gets really bad. And where you didn't see the mess before, you see it more and therefore act sooner. That definitely has helped me.
Your house looks amazing i struggle too with the decoration because everything looks to much so i decided not to have any but the space looks cold so i was wondering what is the right way to have a cozy home but not overwellmed with decor after i watched your videos i felt so much better i ll try your way you are my inspiration you are so positive your smile the way you talk gave me the motivation again i ve been a minimalist for the last 6 years and some times it gets frustrating it is an ever ending process thank you so much kisses from Athens Greece
I recently decluttered the kids room. They have an kitchen they don’t really play with unless letting the accessories lay around in the whole flat So I asked my in law’s if we could bring it there. It’s a win win. So we don’t need to buy something new and they got something to play with when they are there.
Very encourageing i have a spare room its over flowing with stuff very over whelming but i will do a bit by bit then not so exhausting time to get rid of all the bits we dont need thank you great video x
I'm just starting to learn about being a minimalist ... and this is HARD. So, I have a ton of toys for my 3 kids. I feel guilty if I get rid of them since they love every one of them ... my husband loves buying toys for them. So I told him to stop because it's only stressing me out due to a bigger mess. I need help ... what can I do?
Minimalism doesn't have one definition, style, or requirement. My form of minimalism is not going to look like yours or anyone elses since it is different for everyone. Try reading The Minimalist Way, The Minimalist Home, Clutter Free with Kids to start learning more about what minimalism is if you're interested.
I'm confused. When you say clean do you mean clean as in to hoover & dust etc or do you mean to tidy? It's just that in the UK cleaning means dusting etc.
A lot of people use cleaning and tidying interchangeably. I used to. It took hours to clean my house, because i had so much stuff i had to spend hours tidying before i could clean. Now that I have decluttered, the tidying is very quick, and so is the cleaning.
Thanks for the encouragement! I’ve decluttered a lot, but I’ve been slipping on some of the good habits I had created, and a couple of surfaces are getting cluttered.
