Yes, this no tension method of FG works for me. It’s the slickest through the rings of any of the knots and definitely up there for strength . I tie a single overhand knot before the bedding in pull, (wrap the braid around something and pull really hard so it really digs in to the mono, not your fingers) then retighten the overhand then add half a dozen more for peace of mind.
People not getting the vid? The mono was used for demonstartion right? The tension was to lock the knot off, not tie it... Never mind. Do like this knot. I use this or the G knot depending on what braid to Fluro (in a real life setting!) strengths im using. Watched a lot of knot vids on youtube, well explained 👏
Cheers! Been using the Improved Albright knot for my lure fishing and combi-rigs for barbel. Not let me down yet and have been put off by more complicated knots, but think even I can do this one after watching your vid! 😁
Wind knots are inevitable and don't think they can be stopped completely bit there are a few things you can try that will lessen the pain Make sure your reel isn't over filled. Close your bail arm with your hand. After each cast, when you close the bail arm get into the habit of giving the line (reel end) a little tug. Hope this helps
I recognise Langstone, Portchester, Hayling Island and other areas close by so you Live in this area ? I do so I like to see what is possible in my area.
Double uni all day long with mono leader better hook set an more abrasion resistant and knot strength after a year of using flurocarbon not a fan using the double uni knot strength is shocking just an opinion
Usually when you tie the FG knot you have to keep tension on the braid for it to work. No, I had no tension, it wasn't in my teeth or wrapped around my finger. You've got to pull both ends regardless to embed it into the leader.
Check out the rizzuto finish on the fg knot Wayne it's the only way I finish the fg knot now after having the fg unravelling with half hitches in the past.
