Love that I found this gaming channel. Please bro's keep it just like this (down to earth funny / informational) and don't be bought out by anybody. This is genuine consumer dudes commenting on games to us consumers. Not giant company's spraying bullshit. Like it, love it, keep it going.
Thanks for the support dude, we're just being ourselves, being goofy and having conversations which we normally have around the office with a little news thrown in. Glad you like it !
Well said Raggi86, I`m an old fart (first game was pong) but dang it`s great to hear some lads keeping it real. Subbed, liked and will be keeping an eye on the future goodness from these fine gents...
SammEater that's exactly what we all should do. Wait for the complete game to come out for the same price as the standard edition on release. could it be any more obvious that the decision to wait is best. it's cool for me because I know all the smart Gamers will be playing the game later anyways
I love the fact that you guys using Gamers language compared the way IGN and GameSpot talks to us with their over bullshit professionalism and robotic lip-sync teleprompter impression..
It's such a shame that RU-vid is fucking up recently, because channels like this one deserve to grow and this new version of RU-vid is not allowing that to happen.
+Alejandro Vallencci we've gone from 8k subs to 28k in the last 4 weeks thank to youtube recommending our videos. We are proof that the algorithm DOES work. Dont let the big youtubers convince you that it's broken because they're not getting as much promotion as they were.
Pretty Good Gaming at least it's benefitting someone. It is true what they have been saying; I have had many if my subscriptions removed for some reason, which also removes the videos I'm actually interested in from the feed. I am glad that you guys haven't suffered though.
I don't typically subscribe to channels but I think your channel is significant and dynamic that I'll actively engage with you, which is rare for me nowadays. Gotta say, your presentation is superb, you've found a happy-medium to expressing your own opinion and not recycling mainstream opinion. Your channel feels authentic too; On a platform that's diluted by corporate puppy dogs and little diversity in opinion your channel feels like a fresh experience from all the bullshit. Bottom line, you'll have ease connecting with a fan-base of gamers that are discontent with where gaming seems to be going, great composure, presentation and narration. Keep at it with the hard work guys, you show promise for growth. You've got a place on youtube friendos!
Think is the worst decade for gaming industry. With companies taking us as fools! What's up with pre order and don't even get me started on EARLY ACCESS BS!!!
To be fair though the low sales of the last triple A games show that people are finally waking up from this crap, maybe this time they'll make better games.
My favourite game at the moment (battlegrounds) is in early access, I don't think EA is such a bad thing if it's done right... Just depends on if the company keeps developing the game. Now if AAA publishers were to start doing EA that would be a different story
I agree. There is something slimy wiggling around beneath the surface. This should be an awesome single player game. I worry about the developers wanting to make as much money as they can and turning their focus towards multiplayer.
I loved Mass Effect...1 & 2. Mass Effect 3 was the one and only game I have ever pre-ordered and from then own I just wait a month after it releases and never bought a game from Bioware again.
To be fair, your audience isn't large enough to be bought out. Good luck, be real. And be braced for the negatively. With all the backlash and shams in the industry I'll bet you'll bank on it. Good luck!
I'm really tired of that pre-order bullshit, when you buy the standard version of a game you don't even get the full game anymore. Every game nowadays has extra pre-order levels/chapters/stories/content that were once all included in the standard version of a game. Nowadays delevopers or publishers think it's necessary to spam their buyers with DLC's and extra buyable content that nobody needs, micro-transactions for example to buy ingame money...
I don't pre-order. The first time the guy at the games store asked me if I wanted to pre-order a certain game I had no idea what he was on about. I mean I was there to buy a game and he was asking if I wanted to buy a game that hadn't come out yet that I didn't even talk about or mention. I had him explain the whole process to me and I just couldn't get it. Why would people do this? What if the game is shit? I got pretty mad at the guy because I thought he thought I was some dumb ass that he could sign up for some scam that he got commissions for. Why would you ever put your trust into a game developer? I love Splinter Cell and shit but not every game is great and doesn't deserve full price. The statues, gear and shit is terrible mass produced quality. I have a massive collection of toys and statues and if you go to the comic book shop or bigbadtoystore or similar you can get statues and merch that is cold cast, hand painted and so detailed. It is beautiful shit and worth a spot in the cabinet, but the crap the game store gets in or mass distributes for pre-orders is just a plastic or ceramic mold of factory painted crap. It's shit quality. Go buy a hot toy or proper statue and you will notice the difference. And listen to reviews. Pre-order shit that should be part of the game like the Chaos campaign in Total War is just plain wrong, but it won't get my money. Sorry I'm just not buying something without watching reviews and giving the game a value. I wanted Doom but to me it was only worth $30 or less. So I waited a few months and got it for $26. It's great and worth $26, but isn't a game I would pay full-price for.
Shit, I love Fallout so when the collector's edition with the Pip-boy came out I obviously bought it. it now sits in it's box somewhere in my closet, and I stopped playing the game because it dissapointed me so much I went back to Skyrim. Fuck me.
I made an exception with Fallout 4 and pre-ordered it with the season pass (because i love the games), and boy did I make a mistake. FO4 is not a bad game, however every time i play it I feel disappointed and makes me want to play New Vegas instead. (which you can get on steam+all the DLC for $20+no Bullshit). I will never pre-ordering a game ever again. I will only buy games if 1) multiple reviews come out for said game 2) it's not broken (which is why i haven't got Dishonored 2 yet) and 3) takes longer then 5 hours to beat.
Titanfall 2 is the example how AAA game done right. No season pass, no pay DLC map pack, no microtransaction Bullshit, and also game runs good on laucnh, no need day 1 patch
I like to use the original release of Skyrim as a good example of how DLC should be. There was a long while till they released any DLC for the game. It was clear that they developed most of these extra additions to the game after the fact. The DLC was good, too. more armor, weapons, places to explore, and storylines.
Exactly. Story was entirely different from the main quest, which means they gave their all, and in dragon age inquisition you have the real conclusion in a fucking dlc...
Well, the industry tested the waters and tried how far they can go. Sadly the majority bought blindly into it and now we are where we are. I can't imagine these things would be around if they wouldn't pay off. Also I just stumbled opon this channel and I am enjoying the hell out of it! Instantly subscribed. Interesting topics, good video length, nice presention, overall very enjoyable and highly underrated. Keep up the good work!
I kind of agree. To be fair, the collector's edition's really have nothing to do with the game itself. It's just collectables and if you want them you can buy them. Honestly, I like that they include collectors packs with every game since I often tend to get stuff like that if they are in my interest. It's nice to have a collection of game items in your room. Maybe it's not for everyone, but then you can choose any other edition.
after division and NMS, im gonna wait for a few months and wait for the discount. But bioware and Dice provides some solid gaming experiences(dont mention ME3 ending though),i think i will bite for ME:A just because im a fan of the franchise, but im not going for some stupid skins and boosts.
Couldn't be more true than this! Glad I found your channel, saying I'm not the only one who is sick and tired of collectors editions, deluxe editions, preloaded DLC-content, season passes and games that are broken when released. Keep up the good work! :) // Regards from Sweden
Those merch based editions are solely for collectors. Ubi is notorious for it due to AC because they figured out that they have an oddly committed base that will pay $20-50 or even more just to get a 10pg book or gloves. Its the fans fault if anything.
The Dynast Queen Exactly! The publishers are figuring out what they can get away with which is surprisingly a lot thanks to the people who buy this shit
bananaempijama yeah happen to me in destiny and after that i realize companies like ea, ubisoft, activision, are money grabbers which i stop buying games from them
It works because there are tons of dummies that want the special box/map/whatever that they will forget in a closet and throw it in the garbage after some time.
my new favourite gaming news/info channel!! keep busting their balls guys, no one else has the guts to say what you're saying about the gaming industry.
The reason the whole pre-order practice started in the first place was to give people who wanted to buy the game on launch day a chance to secure their own copy without the worry of missing out. But since most new release games are also available as digital downloads now, in some cases being available before retail hard copies, then there's really no reason to pre-order anymore as multiple copies of retail games are readily available. Developers now are just using the whole pre-order thing as a way of selling us half finished games and forcing us to pay for content that, 20 years ago, was unlockable through natural progression in the game.
Am I the only one who appreciated how deep and complicated Aiden Pierce actually was, and how the game forced you to actually look through the audio logs and pay serious attention during the cutscenes to let you find out what he is really like?
And how many "day-0" DLC's will we see? Yeah, they take advantage of our excitement with pre-orders - but as long as we invest wisely, we should hopefully continue to encourage them to make games we'd like to play. Great channel guys, keep up the good work!
What we do in retaliation: - Buy standard edition - Download full soundtrack - Gibbed the hell out of the game, unlock weapons, armors, outfits and shit - Pet pyjak? Fucking no thanks. I want a varren, or plush Garrus.
Nice channel - just subbed. The RU-vid algorithm has identified you, and there's a good chance this channel could blow up very soon. 50k subs by the year's end isn't out of reach; keep up the good work!
You fellas are doing God's work and preaching that gospel truth. I lament the passing of a time when when a game went gold and shipped out it was a complete product. "Enjoy your day one 10 gig patch update, you dumb fuck." "Wanna customize your character? Pay me bitch and I'll permit you to unlock the content locked up on the disk." Preorder incentives? Make a fucking game worth playing on it's own legs and people are gonna buy it. Gee whiz.
preorders also make developers hurray to release games that aren't completely finished. plus like you guys said most of the preorder bonuses are just crap the rest is dlc that you can get anyways after the game is released. great video guys keep it up.
I miss the days when you got something real for preorders. I have several shirts from preorders, Ghostbusters the Videogame from years back was the last game I got that actually gave something real for preorders. After that its just a waste of money.
I never understood why some gamers think they need to explain to other gamers how they should or shouldn't spend their own money. i mean, do I think super deluxe ultimate editions are a waste of money? for me, yes. but some people like to collect things, and if they want to spend extra money for a hat with a game logo along with the game, so be it. gamers getting upset at things being offered for sale, when you have zero requirement to buy it, is just baffling to me. and don't get me started on the blanket hatred for DLC either.
The reason is that it makes the developers and publishers more and more greedy. When they see people buy the extra stuff however ridiculous or bs it is; they get the chance of increasing price on the next installments of the game. So this effects the other consumers who just want the simple stuff in a reasonable price
Al Imran but as they showed in the video, they still do offer just the game at a reasonable price. and your logic makes no sense "if they see people pay more money when they are offered more stuff, they will try to make people pay more money for less stuff, because....greed or something."
Pre-ordering games hurts the games themselves. Since the companies already have your money before they finish their game, they now have the money they would get for selling a completed game and a half-completed game. What this means is that now they can start focusing on the "extra" stuff, aka dlc. Simply put, what drives a company to make a great game is the chance to make a lot of profit, if the company has already made huge profit before even finishing the game it doesn't make sense for said company to keep on paying their employees to develop something they already profited from and how can they make even more profit by developing dlcs
Apart from the "simply put" section, there are also a lot of topics on the internet talking about how bad pre-ordering is and a recent example is "No man's sky" a game a lot of people pre-ordered and ended up being 20% of what was promised, at this point it's maybe worth asking "Would No man's sky get released in the state that it is now if it was not for the preorders?". If that's not enough to convince you that pre-ordering games is stupid, I don't know what will
Shame on you for not opening this video talking about the conflict of interest that you have. Reviewers are naturally going to tell people not to pre-order. After all, if I pre-order than I don't need to watch a review for that game. I pre-order a few games each year and rent most games first. Last time that I paid full price for a game that I didn't like was when I bought a game based on reviews.
+SwingDancer61 we're not reviewers dude, we just make youtube videos about what we think is interesting. We have reviewed games but mostly we just talk nonsense
Shame on you swingdancer for voicing an opinion without doing research first. I completely and 100% agree with everything they stated here. People need to stop pre-ordering games. Period. when you do preorder it shows the developers and publishers that it's ok to cut corners, and take your money before they are even done with a product, especially since no man's sky, where even in interviews they lied about the end product to make sales. People like you who pre-order are feeding into this idea that it's okay to lie about something, and that no matter what they will get their money's worth, even if they blatantly lie.
Timothy Diaz Pretty Good Gaming "Shame on you swingdancer for voicing an opinion without doing research first." They have reviewed games and are therefore reviewers. I looked on their channel and saw that they did have reviews. If you are making reviews or videos that have the same or similar effect as a review, then you have a conflict of interest on this topic. If you have a conflict of interest or even just an apparent conflict of interest, then you should disclose that in the beginning of your video on that topic. "People need to stop pre-ordering games. Period. when you do preorder it shows the developers and publishers that it's ok to cut corners" Like I said, I pre-order a few games and the last time I bought a game full price and didn't like it was because of positive reviews. So I don't buy the idea that pre-ordering is bad and I don't appreciate the dishonesty in reviewers not talking about the conflict of interest they have when discussing this issue.
They aren't reviewers though, they dont rate games. They are more like a private news hub channel, just because they bring up very well thought out and scripted points doesn't make them a reviewer. They are based more on fact than an opinion, even though most of the facts behind what they are covering is opinionated. Since they are more of a news type channel, you have to realize that fact means: a piece of information used as evidence or as part of a report or news article. They are merely reporting on something, things that have happened, and then elaborating on it with their own personal opinions.
Timothy Diaz From their own comment "We have reviewed games". Just look at their videos. Many of them while not technically reviews are still close enough to create the conflict of interest that I'm talking about. As I stated before, even the appearance of a conflict of interest is enough that they should do a disclaimer at the beginning of the video; this is standard ethical behavior.
I completely agree with you but I find it hilarious that you are saying that there is stuff that we don't need while wearing a Force Awakens shirt... because we really needed A New Hope 2.0^^
I'm pretty sure the industry can blame NMS just ruining the whole concept of pre ordering games, especially when the same games end up decreasing in price after the first two months of their release
Great video guys. Honestly, these editions are marketed as if they came with a high-class escort and a few lines of cocaine instead of the actual bullshit that we get: stuff cut away from the main game that'll you'll never get your hands on if you act like a responsible consumer with your money.
The only reason why these multiple editions, preorder bonuses and cut content masquerading as "DLC" continue to exist is because people keep buying them. The fact that this is still happening in 2016 shows that despite various popular RU-vidrs like boogie2988 and TotalBiscuit telling us years ago to not preorder because it supports bad business practices, those advice seem to have gone largely unheeded. There may still be hope on the horizon, but ultimately we as gamers need to collectively give video game companies everywhere the strongest message possible, and that is to close our wallets and have the patience to wait until a game gets released and the reviews start pouring in, and even better, wait until the game drops its price and has gone through at least a year of patching. That is the only way they will listen and change, sadly.
There are exceptions to this rule. In hindsight I wish I had bought the extra deluxe edition of Witcher 3 just to give the developers more money for the game. The game alone was worth that price.
Well said. Game prices went up 200% in a year. Now you pay 50€ for no content release games and 50€ for a content DLC. And then the game is a complete fail. Easy money. Let's start trending the stop of pre-order games and make them choke in their own shit shoveling !
My biggest problem with pre-order bonuses aren't the fact that i need to pay in advance (even though that's stupid as hell), but mostly that including such things in your games makes it look like the developers of said game has little to no faith in their own product.
You know why developers do this right? It's not to screw anyone over. It's because the cost of development is so enormous that sticking to the traditional $59.99 model doesn't provide an adequate return on investment, so they have to makes add ons to give the illusion you are paying $60 when in fact they target they wish to achieve is an extra 20 or so. This isn't the 80s anymore with development teams of half a dozen or less people. Would you rather developers not make a return on investment and abandon your favorite franchises because they are deemed unprofitable?
gta 4 and 5 is an example of dlc and preorder bonuses done right, gta 4's dlc opens a whole new perspective of the original, while gta 5 adds more content that doesn't hurt the base game
Hilarious intro! and absolutely agree with your point! Just don't pre-order games unless its like Red dead redemption 2, Last of Us 2 or Cyberpunk! Also ZELDA
Spot on guys. I personally will never pre-order a game again. All I want is the game and to be able to put the disc in and play it, no day one megabyte patch. Just release the game when it is actually finished.
Well said guys, I only ever get the standard editions because, well, I'm a skint nursing assistant and I don't really give a toss for anything else BUT the main game, all those vanity items are a waste of money, I could understand it if the deluxe editions came with fortnightly access to a big boobed weather girl but...
Pre-ordering only hurts us as a community and encourages companies to bleed us dry if we are willing to pay them for something that we don’t know anything about. Same thing goes for DLCs, don’t buy them. a game should be complete on release. The only reason to pay extra for a DLC if it’s so big that it could be considered a sequel.
The first Pre-order bonus I remember seeing was The Call of Duty: World At War's M1 Carbine. At least I think it was an M1. And I remember thinking that somehow that's gonna be detrimental in the future.
You guys should do a before you buy video for video games with pros and cons. I know that others may still do it out there, but it would add some variety to your channel imo.
The real reason game companies keep doing this shit is because its really working. People DO want all that extra bullshit so they pay for it, and game companies feel justified in selling it.
Great video guys. I stopped pre-ordering games a decade ago. it's bullshit and games never sell-out anyway so it's not like you aren't going to be able to get a copy. Not with digital downloads now. In the past 15 years I have gotten order bonuses for only 1 game: The original BlazBlue. And I didn't pay extra; I just paid regular price. The only reason I even pre-ordered that was because I was 100% sure I was going to buy it anyway and it came with a music CD and an artbook. Not bad when you are only paying for the base price anyway. But today that trend has changed. Back then games gave you extra goodies for buying the full game early. Now, they want you to pay $20-$80 extra to get that useless crap. It's totally not worth it. I mean my BlazBlue limited edition art book is laying in the corner damaged and dusty.
I hate that publishers keep doing this. I don't think devs are 100% innocent all the time. Pre-order bonuses are bad for the industry. Developers and need to remember that buying the game IS part of the experience of the game as a whole. This goes double for f2p, or pay as you go games. But back to my main point. What if the game bombs? Then you have a bunch of comsumers dumping a shit load of money, multitudes of the games actual value, for extra content in a game that no one will be playing in a month (cough infinite warfare). Basically either they need to stop doing ridiculous pre order bonuses, or put more concern into the return on investment for consumers.
I per-ordered a number of AAA games in 2016 just to get disappointed when they came out. I learned my lesson through wasting money, from now on i won't per-order any game. Doesn't matter which developer it is.
