I'm a plugin guy and this is definitely the next level of Amp Sims. The sound quality is beyond the expected very massive tones for modern metal and the interface is very fresh inspiring and intuitive.
I really appreciate this UX approach. Couldn't agree more with you in that a clean and specious "app" style UX makes wayyyyy more sense on computer screens. Really love Helix for that. Love the tones you got by the way. Great video Taylor!
I've really liked the sound of the Rhino in every video I've seen on it. This is the most in depth overview of the plugin I've seen and you make it sound killer. Great work man!
I wish more DSP companies would do their own thing. So much is possible with digital fx it's a shame most people are trying to model what already exists.
For the studio purposes, plugins are more ellegant choice. Sound of them is great, an you don't need a expensive otboard studio, just monitors, sound card, DAW and plugins. For live purposes, Tonex is here, and it's a revolution. When somebody make a hardware component for a NAM, it will be it.
Actually, you can use the output of your interface to run through a power amp and into a cab. Some amp sims have a stand alone mode, and even if they don't, you can use a plugin host to load plugins in chains like in your DAW, anyway.
@@insertanynameyouwant5311 and? you can still do it. You just need a device that operates at line level, and depending on your interface, you might need an adapter. Any rack mount power amp runs line level, and if it has a 1/4" input it usually will take either balanced or unbalanced, and that's assuming it doesn't REQUIRE balanced. You know what happens when you plug an unbalanced cable into a balanced output that doesn't have jack detection? Answer: it just works as unbalanced. DERP. OH, and guess what? A good 80% of FX loops on amps run at line level, and the remaining 20% is split down the middle between instrument level and having a literal dipswitch or spring button to pick between instrument and line, and some further let you designate pro line (+4 dB) vs consumer line (-10 dB). The auxiliary and main outs on the backs of most interfaces that aren't powered mixers are 9 times out of 10 at line level. I literally set up an old Microsoft Surface 3 tablet to run ToneLib GFX or NaLex AmpLex or anything else I want through a USB interface. I even have a separate, parallel monitor chain, one with cab IR's running to headphones and one direct out, set to run in a live VST host. I have an ART SLA-1 rack power unit, and I have a hybrid half-stack. I tried using a 1/4" patch cable to both the power supply and the FX return of the amp head. Worked just fucking dandy. I even used two patch cables to run some post FX pedals in the loop (this tablet has a VERY SHITTY processor lmao) and it works great. I used a Behringer UMC404HD. I used to do the same thing using my old Zoom R8, and even that shitty old thing has IMPEDENCE MATCHING OUTPUTS. My buddy has a Thunderbolt UA Apollo interface. It works as a go between for the amp sims that come with the packs for Reason, and he can use the DI input on the front, route outputs 3/4 into the FX return on his Bugera V22 tube combo amp or the [External Power Amp] input on the back of his Peavey Bandit 112, then use mics to record those sounds in a separate track in real time with the onboard DSP enabled back into the 2nd onboard input, or into his ADAT preamp. He literally just needs cables.
I think they sound really good, but as broke as I am... I think I'll just have to do the split bass trick and save 80 bucks. If they were a little cheaper it would make sense for me. Not saying that these aren't worth the money... Just unaffordable to me lol

Thanks! When I track my guitars, I only record the DI signal from my interface. If you load the standalone version of the plug-in, and mute your input monitoring on your interface, you can use the plug-in to monitor yourself. Hope that’s not too confusing, I’m probably butchering the explanation. This should be a video in and of itself.
It's a hard sell for companies to keep making typical amplifiers. Seems like Digital is going to take over in the future. Although I think they're never going to replace the feeling of owning a proper amp head and a cab. So, I hope they never stop making amps.

I`m impressed with the tone you dialed in! wonder which Ir`s they use. DId you have any post processing like mastering? Is it stable btw? Their free stuff crashes on my PC
The Rhino sounds pretty damn good but the Mammoth was depressing. Very digital and splatty (though, this could be the settings used). I did not find the sound to be very inspiring for bass (I am biased being a bass player myself) and like most bass plugins, it was pretty limited in features/options. The UI is certainly interesting but I did not really enjoy the layout that much.
It will work for certain types of sound, mainly the digitally death metal kind of stuff but for necro black metal and doom metal I doubt it will work... you can usually hear digital amps and pluggins from a mile off and being honest when I hear one, it puts me off, it's abit like listening to albums with fake drums for me personally.
