I appreciate you guys so much. You are a true blessing. I grew up as an Old Order Mennonite in Ontario, Canada and can identify so well with much of what you said. My husband and I still live in the Mennonite community, although we no longer attend their church and are what they would call "English". There are many things about the culture we want to keep and pass down to our children, but we praise the Lord that He drew us to Him and helped us realize the fullness of the Gospel, which we were not being taught there. I feel we have the best of both worlds now, and my prayer is that our families and friends who think we have left the faith would also be able to experience the freedom and joy that comes from really knowing Jesus. May God bless you and your lovely family!

I became enthralled with the Amish many, many years ago. I love the way they live, but the fact that they still shun, is not something the Lord would ever do. Do they not practice forgiveness? I pray that their eyes be open to the entire gospel, and accept the Lord as their personal savior. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

There’s a lot in our area also. Not so nice to their animals, I dislike that profoundly! Not so good to the women either. Hygiene isn’t a priority either.

When you read the Book of Acts, you can see that most of the churches have veered from the original church. I long for the community that seemed to exist in the early biblical times. I totally agree with your perspective of keeping your heritage, but altering it to conform to the scriptures. I love you guys! You are simply wonderful people! ❤️❤️❤️

My prayer is that the Lord open the eyes and hearts of the traditional Amish community. I am a born again Christian from Hindu background but I do live out my culture and values if it doesn't contradict the word of God. I still wear my Indian clothing and food that's where my creator God chose me to be born. I thank God for my culture. Thank you so much for sharing openly! The Lord richly bless you and your family.

I enjoy your channel! I am Mennonite. So I live in an area where there are Amish as well. I feel it was probably easier for you to leave the Amish than most people cause your parents and siblings did as well and you have family support. I know some people that leave and it’s really traumatic because their families disown them. So sad for them.

I’m “English” who went to Mennonite schools from 5th grade through high school (because it was the closest Christian school to where I grew up in Oregon), so I learned to appreciate the Anabaptist culture from that experience. And, when my husband was drafted into the army (50 years ago) we lived in Maryland-close enough to Lancaster, PA that we often drove up there to shop for Amish made goods. So I find the Amish cultural aspects of your channel very heartwarming as well. However what blesses me most is that we are brothers and sisters in Christ. I am encouraged by your posts that emphasize salvation through Jesus Christ alone and loving/following him with our whole hearts. Love your channel ministry! God bless you! ❤️🙏

I love this video. I didn't realize you were trying to bring revival in the Amish community. I'm in Northern Indiana. We have Amish communities near Nappanee. We attend a church that has become a place of help for people leaving local Amish communities. My experience with the Amish has always been great, but my heart hurts for the negative things that seem to go on in some of the communities. I'm so excited that you are bringing a revival of Amish community where you are. I will pray for that here too. We're friends with a family who left their community because they found God's grace. Praying God's blessings for you and your family too! Also as a homeschool parent I'm so grateful for those who sacrifice in the 80s to give me the greatest freedom to teach my children at home.

Amen!!! I was raised in a strict Dutch Reformed community! When I accepted Jesus as my Lord and had the Holy Spirit fill me to overflowing I was excommunicated from the community as a heretic! After a while more of them started to seek the Lord, they realized that they were wrong and even the pastor came back and apologized for leading them astray !!!! The church hasn't completely recovered from it though but they're still seeking to spread the gospel!!

My third day watching your videos and I am so thankful that you guys are taking the time out of your busy schedules to tell us about the Amish culture. I am thankful for you letting us know about the witchcraft because I had no idea. I want to form an Amish type tiny home community and so that is why I am researching the Amish culture. I am building the Kingdom of God (on earth as it is in Heaven) and this is the closest structure of: building maintaining and being a part of a family, hard working: growing planting your own garden, the respect for others and having church in the community having your own school in the comm where everybody plays a part in teaching protecting and raising the kids. I love this Amish comm living.

My husband and I were just having this same discussion about the world missing community and how that is what is missing in the church today. I pray for those in the conservative churches to find the true meaning of being a christian. We grew up Mennonite and my parents were Amish. I miss community so much. We moved away from family 25 years ago because of my husbands work and that has been really hard. I see places that sell Amish made stuff and it always made me upset because you wouldn't say Catholic made or Baptist made things but you explained it as a culture and I guess that is where it is different. Thank you so much for sharing your story.

I really appreciate this because I am so longing for Christian community. I’ve been a Christian for 34 years and in the last couple years, I became convicted to obey 1 Cor 11 and started headcovering for church worship, prayer gatherings, etc. As a result, I started being interested in cultures that practice headcovering. I have watched numerous RU-vidrs- some are Mennonite, some Amish, some Hutterite. That’s how I happened upon your channel. I feel very alone in my church (Baptist) as the only woman who headcovers. Yet I still feel convicted to do so. What you said about community being such an important part of the Christian walk is very true and I long for it more and more and don’t know how to find it. Our modern churches are severely lacking in such things. We have this naive thinking that we can live completely in the world aside from a couple of hours at church each week and grow as Believers and come out unscathed by the world. I enjoy watching your channel! Blessings.

Even though you dress different and drive cars. You will always be Amish because of your heritage and culture. There is nothing wrong with that. It is nice to see you embrace your heritage. Many ex-Amish don't for many reasons. I have read a book about Amish persecution several centuries ago and it's sad how they were treated. I have Amish friends in Michigan(who are actually distant cousins to me) and have attended their church a couple times. I may not have understood it because of the High German but I was treated nice and enjoyed myself. My friends and I have had discussions on many different things . When ever I visit I respect their way of life when in their home. I get The Budget and enjoy reading your sister's letter from your community. Have a great week and God Bless.

Wonderful video! You explained that great! What is your opinion about musical instruments in the church building? I was raised in the Church Of Christ, and we could have instruments in our homes, but not in the church building. Yes,the Bible says raise your voice to the Lord, but there's many instruments in the Bible. The first time I went to a church with drums, guitars, piano,I was like wow!I listen to Christian music almost entirely in my car and home.To me it gets you on fire for the Lord. But I love hearing songs with no instruments as well.Hugs from Missouri 🤗

Right around the 13:00 mark; just before you were saying this, I was thinking that those coming out of the Amish or Mennonite communities have valuable things to share with those of us who have grown up in a very individualistic society… there were things like living in community; gardening; food preservation; and so much more- that were not passed down to most of the “English” of today, and we struggle because of it. It would be wonderful for some of the English and those of an Anabaptist background to come together and teach each other.

There is also a movement of people who have been in the Mormon Church seeking relationship with Christ by coming directly to Him and by being re-baptized as adults. Children don't really understand what they are doing, let alone infants. Baptism is a covenant to the Lord that you desire to follow Him and keep His commandments. It takes courage to step out of the "church" you are raised in and still follow the Lord.

I was never Amish, as both sets of my grandparents left when my parents were small. But I was raised with the culture, as a Beachy Amish. Today, I identify as a Mennonite, who is also born again. The work ethic, the community of working together, being part of a church group, are all things we are passing on to our children. God created us to have a relationship with Him and those around us. I appreciate seeing that you value the culture that you were born in, as too many do throw out the baby with the bath water.

So thank you so much. Speaking for myself, as I’ve said, I wish I had your upbringing and your community. I pray your channel continues to grow, but I pray you never lose your family values, your community, and your love for the Lord above all. I hope this didn’t come across poorly. I mean it with all the love in my heart. Yes! Jesus won! And I’m so thankful I am a follower

There is so much that the English could benefit from the Amish culture. I am born and raised “English” but working very hard to living a simple life. The Amish believe in being self-sufficient they don’t rely on the system to provide for the basic needs. The Amish that lives in my area have been such nice people.

I learned much today watching your video. We purchased a piece of property in the Libby area and are developing it to put a simple Meadowlark log cabin on it. We aren't religious people but we are moving to Montana for the small town family community that Libby provides. I am not sure if you will be a part of the crew that will be building our cabin but I hope to get to meet you then. In America you get to worship however you please. Keep being true to yourself and your community and understand that many people on the outside support how you live, raise your children, and worship your god.

Hi Jeffery Thanks so much for commenting and watching our videos! We look forward to building your cabin! I’m sure you will see me at some point as I am involved in many aspects of Meadowlark Log Homes. We are excited to meet you and have you be a part of the local community! And thanks for your encouragement about living the life we are free to here in America. Blessings on you and your family!

@@MontanaHaven Kim and I visited Meadowlark late last summer when we put a deposit down on the cabin. Elvie called us after we got back to Redding and he thanked us for using Meadowlark to build our cabin and we chatted about his daughter going to school here in Redding. His hospitality and kindness reaffirmed our choice in moving to Libby and using your company.

God didn’t make a mistake by defining in James 1:27 re: the only ‘religion’ He recognizes. It is described as: “Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” But this fallen world tries to redefine it to suit themselves causing disunity! Thank you Joas for being such a clear spoken witness for the true word of God, it has no ‘brand of religion’, but is in communion with Jesus & in fellowship with his fellow man/woman! Blessings on you & your house! 🙏

I live in Missouri among the Amish and Mennonite population! I worked at Walmart here and I would have conversation and some would not speak as much! A family would come in and the little boy always watched me work and always had a smile on his face! They all had freckles! I grew up visiting the Shakers as my Mom had a friend that was raised with the Shakers! They were wonderful people? The only reason they didn’t grow was non belief in marriage! Like in the Amish a lot or the young people left because they didn’t want live that way! They had a saying; Hearts to God Hands to Work! Everything was made was made right or taken apart and redone as they believed perfection on earth as in Heaven!
