Thanks for the video. I was never able to hula hoop as a kid. I bought a smart hoop this week (because of the TikTok fad) but could not keep it going. Watched your other video with the helpful hints and I'm excited to see if they help!
Thank you for making the FB Hula Hoop group! I've been taking part in the JuneBugBoogie challenge. I didn't realize I was going to become this infatuated with hula / smart / infinity hooping. :) 💛
My reason going for hula hoops is because I want to work on my stiffness, not burning calories perse. Normal hoops require more movement and hence is much better for activating all those muscles you haven't used for years maybe, burning calories is like a cherry on top. I do go to the gym for heavylifting. I use normal hula hoops between recovery days to improve my overall movement dexterity.
I have used both hula hoops. Definitely, the smart hula hoop is much easier to use, takes up less space and doesn't cause bruising on my waist. Also, for those purchasing a smart hula hoop and having difficulty keeping it spinning I recommend spraying the wheels with WD-40. Works like a charm.
@Victoria_Diamond I agree, I don't have the other one but with the weighted one I find it challenging sometimes to keep it on my hips, whereas the other one would definitely never slide past my hips 😅
Bro i love how your warm up is more exercise than i get in a day lol. Working to change that by traditional hooping (: i did buy one of those weight lost ones. But it doesnt seem as fun
I have a smart hoops I really like it I lose 2 inches in 5 days and I also cut sugar drink plenty of hot water 🤞finger cross need to lose weight before my wedding 😂
It's shocking isn't it? The results that a smart hula hoop can give... I'm already a relatively athletic person so from a workout perspective I should have to do more to get my heartrate up to burn more calories, but with the smart hoop I'm still able to do that regardless of my fitness level.
I just did 2 hours smart hoop while dancing , lunging , bouncing , hip swinging . Did I really burn 1000 calories ? Not got a smart watch . I use Swiss activa which is so easy . Thank youuuuuu
Thanks for this video. I have the weighted one. 😁 Still need to watch your how to hula hoop videos and practice... (There are alternative workouts for use of the weighted hula hoop, too.) 😁❤️
I have both. Can’t do the smart hoop as long as the weighted (but I’ll get there). Preference is the smart hoop. Keep it out of site in a storage foot stool, where it is handy to grab. Also the smart hoop is easy transport for trips. Found it for a great price on that site that starts with a T. Happy hooping!😊
Maybe try to do mote exercises that require more balance and core. I'm not convinced with the smart hoop because it doesn't take as much balance and strength but I could definitely be wrong
when I got my weighted hula hoop, the box said you can remove one link if so desired. Which I'm thinking would be a faster movement as it's now a smaller circle. Maybe do a test and see if the calories burned and BPM goes up? I was reading another article about smart ones vs weighted. And the person posed a easy question... What makes it a' "smart" hula hoop? It's a track that wraps around your waist with a weighted ball on a string that you toss and you need momentum to keep it going. So they tag it with the word "smart".
I love hooping. This was very informative I think I will always have a few smarthoops . Though I want to learn the big hoop. I have been the big hoop for warm ups thanks again Hoopsmiles 💜
For me, the weighted hoop is really effective but I think, re bpm/calories, it's important to say so much depends how you use it, whether you're working it up and down your body, the degree of hip sway, the speed you can hoop at, whether you're walking lengths while doing it, etc, etc. I can't see myself consistently keeping it on one part of my body so that's not a real world test for me, at least. Re calories, I really go for it, full throttle, though I get sore if I do it for more than 90 mins or so (45mins to an hour each way) and that's something to be a little careful with (it's addictive, unfortunately, and if I do it while watching television, I sometimes forget I'm doing it! I find if I do a manual count in my head as sort of a meditation, it takes my mind off things.
I go for the weighted hoop. Although i have the smart hoop but for me i cant see myself burn my calories in smart hoop i like the weighted hoop because i can move the hoop in my legs and move up to my waist and move to my neck vise versa i can do also hoop in my shoulder and in my right and left below the knee and i felt my body that super sweating. And for me this is good for me to more calories take away .
I love hula hooping after work I personally prefer the regular weighted hula hoop, I find it more esthetic and make me exercise my legs as well as my waist at the same time
I don't buy these results. The weighted hoop takes a lot more effort to keep up, it's also heavier and puts the weight into hulahooping. Smart hoops doesn't have weight nor the movement needed to keep up a weight. To me a smart hulahoop is no different than just moving slightly in place. I don't know if this comparison is just biased or what but those results just don't make any sense to me.
A-ha! Fitbit!! … I wondered how you would know how many calories burned. Super cool, man!! Thank you! Personally, I felt the weighted hoop couldn’t go very fast, therefore not moving my body as much. Will you please measure standard/regular/led hoops? Also, do you think that doing either hoop would have produced more calories burned on the first hoop, I mean, is it possible that you burned more calories on the first hoop because you did it first? Is it possible that more calories are burned in the first 10 minutes of a hoop-workout, than subsequent 10-minute intervals?
That's a good question. I didn't mention this in the video but I waited until the next day to track the weighted hula hoop workout, partly to give myself a break, but also not to tamper the results to do one workout right after the other. Thank you for your comment. You're right the regular weighted hoop is limited to how fast it can go based on its size. The smaller weighted hoop used, the faster it would go. In regards to standard hoops, LED hoops, that would be an interesting test.
@@hoopsmiles Awesome! Nice control of your experiment! And thank you for your time and reply. ✨ Do you have any Home Depot hoops… the kind made from pvc tubing and electrical tape? I had great abs when I used those regularly 😊 I need to make more, they’re too easy to give away 😆
Since you’re a veteran hooper I know hooping is easier for you and will burn less calories. I would also be interested in a side-by-side comparison with a smaller diameter hoop. Something where you have the same rotational speed. It’s obvious in your speed up that they are going at a different rate around your body. I suppose it would be the length of the string plus the diameter of the links to be similar sizes?
I'm not sure which I would choose. I want to hula hoop for fun... still can't do 10 minutes straight though but I keep trying. *laughs* I am thinking you really like cats. :) So do I. I have 9 cats at the moment. 10 if you count that the neighbors cat spends most of day in my fenced in yard and eats the food I put out. ;) Loved all those shirts. I design shirts as a hobby so I was keenly interested in looking at all of them. - Heidi
You are so cool with it I can't even keep a regular Hula-Hoop up if I could keep a regular Hula-Hoop up I wouldn't buy the smart hope but you make it look so easy and fun and you look so cool doing it swag with the hulu your name should be swag hula
Sooo question I love my smart hula hoop but I used my fit bit also to track cals burned I did 36 min burned 361 cals, they all advertise it burns 800 cals in 30min definitely don't think that is correct but 361 cals isn't bad for 36min
Wow, quality content! Thank you for putting this together for us. I wish smart hoops weren't so expensive.. $101 cad for the one you linked. Think I can get away with a cheaper one? Anything to look out for or avoid when it comes to buying a smart hoola? E: Actually the white one you linked is much more affordable at $50! I'm seriously considering it. Thank you :)
I’ve seen those! A very funny thing happens with them. So I was at my moms friends house and it was a party. The host, (friend) brought the weighted hula hoop. Everyone was trying it, her husband didn’t go so he had a chance. He hula hopped very well but he went SUPER SUPER SUPER fast and the weight fell off and like a latch was broken. I almost got hit in the head ;)
They can be dangerous, which is partly why I don't recommend doing them close to people. I don't recommend doing them around preschool aged children or younger.
I've been working out with a modern hula hoop, a Swiss activa , I have a fit bit, I listen to rock music and get the ball moving fast, side to side, front to back, yet there is no way I can get my heart rate up above 118 ! Suggestions please.
You can do it both ways I've a small waist and big hips so it just fits naturally on my waist altho when I started I had bad brusing when it hit my hips when it fell
I like the smart hula hoop! It's a good workout. Was sedentary and this gives me what I need and can increase the workout. Glad a friend recommended it
My daughter wants ths for Christmas We tried a regular hula hoop and she couldn't get the Rhythm she looked like Tina from bobs burgers trying to twerk 🤣. I'm on RU-vid lookn to see if ths needs "skills" or "rhythm" to use.
Unfortunately it sounds like you are using a hoop I don't recommend. I don't offer any kind of support for that hoop, as hoops that are substandard can limit one's ability to fully learn and get the most out of this. The hoops I recommend don't require you to open up and fill with sand, which you can find in the description of this video. If it's not too late, I recommend sending that hoop back and requesting a refund.
Unfortunately I haven't found a smart hoop seller in India selling a hoop I feel comfortable referring people to. I've checked multiple times. There are hula hoop scams out there. I try my best to share links from sellers who appear to sell authentic hoops. If a seller pops up I feel is authentic, then I will share a link.
