This video is all about whether or not you actually need a drone for your youtube channel's cinematography, videography, or vlogs. I have a four step process for you to go through, which will hopefully guide you to make the best decision when looking to buy a drone from DJI or any other brand.
Step One: Can you afford it?
Drones are very expensive. You need to be sure that you're in a financial situation that it wont be harmful to you in other more important ways, to buy the drone.
Step Two: Will you use it?
Obviously you'll fly the drone, but how often will you fly it? You want to be sure that you'' be getting your money's worth if you invest in a drone, especially if you go for a more expensive model like the DJI Mavic series.
Step Three: Will it benefit you?
This is pretty individual. Do you think that drone shots will actually improve your videos in a storytelling or pacing sense, or is a drone simply a fun toy that doesn't apply to your channel topic (i.e. Gaming).
Step Four: Legal stuff
There are a TON of drone laws on the books now, and should be sure to follow your local laws. This can actually be a big problem for many drone pilots, because restricted fly zones can limit your drone usage, and drone registration becomes expensive and time consuming if you are registering your drone for commercial purposes. The best way to avoid drone restrictions is to buy a drone that weighs under 250 grams.
