*CORRECTION: The Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed was revised in 381 AD, not 361 AD. That’s what happens when I shoot from the hip and include dates I haven’t double checked. Thanks for understanding. 😊

Do you think if there were more explanation and understanding of the questions being asked - the percentages change significantly? Or do you think the assumptions made by the responses of this survey are “accurate “ concerning the church at large?

And it’s not that I don’t recognize value in surveys - I just tend to be a bit leery when reading summaries of surveys to represent a huge number of people

Ed!!! So good to hear from you! I’m with you on being suspicious of the accuracy of surveys like this, however, these results have been consistent over the last several years of the survey. Part of it could be poor wording on the questions, but I also believe much of it is a de-emphasizing of theology. While it isn’t necessary for us to have perfect theology to honor God (because none of us do), I have been concerned by the overall distrust between academic theology and the average pastor. Much of the distrust is warranted, but it still grieves me.

@frenkvortice3858, I hope that video made clear why I don’t believe the KJV is a good modern translation. If you have been reading the KJV your whole life, keep on reading. However, if you want to do serious Bible study, I recommend going back to the original languages or grabbing a better modern translation. While it is an old English translation, it isn't based on the oldest or best copies of the original language Bible books we have available today.

@frenkvortice3858 Hey Frenk, I watched some of the video you referenced. With a new baby at home, I don't have time to watch 2 hour-videos to respond to comments. I hope you understand. The concerns raised in what I watched of the video only made sense if you start with English and work backward to the original languages. If we start with the original language versions of each book of the Bible in their earliest written forms and base all translations off of those, we can trust that a reliable modern translation can be produced. The idea that any changes to the textus receptus result in removing the divinity of Christ is a logical fallacy. The person in the video did not correctly pronounce several key words along the way and had the comments turned off. Those are some red flags for me that the source may not be entirely trustworthy. If you have watched my videos on the topic, I hope you can see why I don’t exclusively encourage the KJV. If you have a specific question about translation, I’d be happy to reply.
