When I was younger I worked in an office where I always wore flat shoes with a narrow toe box. I developed thick nails on both of my toes. The podiatrist I was seeing gave me a series of medication for fungus, even Lamisil, nothing worked. Now years later You have diagnosed my problem. Thank you so very much for your videos. I have this, and I'm glad you have made a video about it! It's your shoe AND your walking style. When I was in college, I worked at a grocery store wearing roomy New Balances, but I would grip my toes to the floor when pushing or pulling heavy carts of products for almost 8 hours a day. After a year of doing that, my toes were affected, and I would sometimes walk that way even while not at work when I was stressed or lifting something heavy. The only thing that resolved it (kind of) was that during C0vid, being at home an less active caused my feet to heal and my toes to even straighten out. My toenail nail beds on my smaller toes have become larger and more paintable too. I still have a bit of thickened skin, but it's very thin now after that time and my nail is no longer hard or yellow/brown at the trama spots, or lifting off my toe at a weird angle and curving upwards or downwards in a unusual way. Be mindful of the way you walk or plant yourself on the floor during high stress activities, it will show up in your feet. I will try Kerasal and see if my remaining thickened skin will go away, good tip.

OMG! I've thought I had toenail fungus for years. But all the fungal treatments didn't help. I starting using Kerasal ointment recently for thick skin on my toes and thought, huh, this seems to be helping my fungus, weird. But I've been an athlete/runner/walker all my life and your video just illuminated the real issue. I'm so happy to start a different treatment and use the Kerasal more often and see how much of a difference it makes. I've also recently started wearing shoes with a bigger toe box. Thank you so much!

YES as a dog walker I developed this on one foot which has a third metatarsal keratotic lesion. Wearing Power Step inserts and Kerasol (thanks to you) has mostly resolved it. (and starting out with a good podiatrist)

My 2nd toe is the longest on my foot, so it hits the end of my shoes when walking! I’m so glad you made a video about this! I wondered why that 2nd toe on both feet had a very thick part under the nail. I purchased shoes slightly big for me with a wide toe box.

wow, those could be my feet and I've never understood what was going on with those middle toes, thank you for the explanation! I recently started using Kerasal Multi-Purpose Nail Repair, Nail Solution for Discolored and Damaged Nails to try to remove the thickness. I have this toenail condition for years. After years of being a runner, and working all day on my feet, I think I’m just stuck with it. I used the kerasal on them for months but it doesn’t go away.

I just realized I have an unidentified issue causing onycholysis. However, it strangely affects only the ring fingers on my hands. For years and years I kept noticing that I the free edge on my ring fingers becomes very evidently longer than the free edge on all other nails, despite me filing them to the same length. Ever since I started following your channel, I started closely looking at my nails on a daily basis and this time I caught when it happened. I still do not know the reason but I saw the very clear signs of separation happen overnight, after which the area beneath my ring finger nails became itchy. My guess is that after the free edge reaches a certain length, perhaps some pressure occurs which slightly separates the hyponychium by a few millimeters. This might cause a barely visible crack that leaves the area open to infection - I think that is why I feel the itching for a few days after. I've been thinking of trying to apply some nail glue beneath my nails, to see if that would keep the nail attached for longer so I can finally extend the hyponychium and the nail bed of my ring fingers can lengthen as much as the rest.

I would see a dermatologist. The itching might be some kind of allergic reaction. I have had repeated occurrences of onycholysis and never any itching at all. It might be an irritation, too. I wore acrylics for 15 years and then my skin rebelled. ( I had a nail tech that liked to remove the nails via soaking and then reapply enhancements. I have crappy nails that don’t react well to enhancements. My theory is my nail bed was thinned out and product got to my skin.) Anyway, I developed an irritation on three fingers but the others were fine. So it’s possible that while something is bothering that one finger, the others are fine. It might also be that my skin is just weird. After all, the left side of my lower lip hates bees wax while the rest of my lips are fine with it. 😂 Good luck!

Hi Anna, when I do my manicures on natural nails can I just soak in gentle soap and warm water and just used an electric nail drill (without the sandy attachment, just the metal head) to push the skin back on my nails as well as the cuticle and just not use a cuticle nipper? Would that work? Blessings~

U should probs call ahead and see if they offer diabetic pedicures. And ask them to walk u through their process/what products and tools they will use. Also only go if your diabetes (if its you your comment is referring to). Idk abt doing them at home tho not that ur asking me im just being a busybody 😅.

Yes I do but it depends on the feet. If the client has some issues like thick nails or deep cracks I refer them to podiatrist or a medical professional

I would need your help regarding fungus on my finger nails. I was taking care of my husband feet (who has fungus and my big mistake I didn’t have gloves on and now it’s on my 4 fingers . The doctor prescribed a liquid for my nails but no results after months of applications . Can you help? Thank you

Fungus on hands is pretty rare but it is not a cosmetic issue but a medical issue so it would be out of my scope to advise a treatment esp over the internet. Please follow up with your doctor or find another one. Did you go to a dermatologist?

Hi Anna I was browsing Sephora and saw Dior nail glow which I have not used but know of it from your channel. My toes are wack from decades of wearing heels for 10+ hours a day. This is definitely what's going on with my tootsies. Ill have to figure out how to live with it because there's no way I would ever subject a fellow human to having to deal with them, I would die of humiliation if i ever went for a pedi lol
