Now they have no apartheid in South Africa for already 30 years? And what do we have now? Crime-ridden, criminality-infested, corrupt, pro-Hamas, failed state that discriminates and oppresses the remaining poor (I mean economically) white people. Any white person with any means already left South Africa. Apartheid was unethical, true, however if you look at the United Kingdom (the name is kind of misleading because its a disunited woke regime, really) we have a kind of apartheid state as well. Only the persecuted and oppressed are the majority. But there is hope that this type of apartheid will be also overthrown. Eventually, maybe sooner than later, the real Brits will take their country back. The same goes for the US, Canada, Australia, France and Germany. If we don't do it, we will be living in multicultural prisons. The woke Left is building a new type of apartheid.

Sadly a great deal of myth around all these hero's of the struggle. Biko's death was tragic. The liberated have proven to be utterly corrupt and incompetent.

Dear Gad Saad, two thoughts from a German who absolutely loved South Africa from 1994 onwards, and went >10 times: Wouldn´t Biko have become just as beastly and corrupt as 95% of ANC people after The Crocodile opened op? South Africa was a blessed land under Apartheid, and blacks seemed generally happy, super-kind, and content. I know, this is super-controversial, but the leftist "freedom" movement destroyed the land almost as much as it destroyed Rhodesia. God bless you. (There even was a song about him, Biiiko, Biiiiiiko ...)

I went by myself to see Cry Freedom. There was a black woman a couple seats down. We were crying so hard, we moved to sit next to each other & held on for dear life. It was raining & I saw her waiting in the rain for the bus. I pulled up to her & insisted she get in my car & I drove her home. I wish we would have exchanged phone numbers as she was so sweet & kind I wished we could keep in touch.

Steve Biko, founder of the Black Consciousness Movement during the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa, said, “The greatest weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed.” Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” picks up that same theme as he proclaims, “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.”

Uhm... did you read anything about his ideology? He was against multiracial organisations. He also wanted a socialist economy. Being prosecuted and killed by a dictatorship doesn't make you good person. He didn't want equality but merely a change of leadership.

Hey Gad, what’s the value in having a handful of ‘intellectuals’ who can string a few thoughts together, when all around is a sea of mediocrity (or worse)? South Africa is currently reaping the harvest sown by a government intoxicated on black consciousness thinking, courtesy of Biko et al, and the people are starving.

Today was the first time I heard about Biko. Read about him on Wikipedia. From what I read I thought he was an interesting man with interesting ideas, while far from perfect. Do you think his thinking was wrong or it’s the people who bastardized his ideas to fit their narrative?

Steve 'Bantu' Biko's thoughts and ideas have been cynically abused by some of the worst people in post-Apartheid South Africa. There is also some court intrigue about who in the ANC gave him up to the Apartheid Regime.

Yes! What a great comment. Will never forget the midnight knock at my friend's door where their neighbour across the street went for help - standing bruised up, with a bloody nose. Her wealthy, accomplished husband, in their beautiful house had beaten her. Don't know how long it had gone on for, but it's not the house in the neighbourhood you would have ever picked. (She did leave him, back when women didn't have many financial options. He made sure she wouldn't have much. But she found a much happier emotional ending years later. She turned out to be a honey badger).

It’s my view that one of the reasons South Africa is in the poor state it’s in is because it lost Steve Biko. He had the answers to truly liberate the poor and suffering in SA and the apartheid government recognised and knew it which meant he had to be eliminated - my father worked for the ‘Suid Afrikaanse Gevangenis Diens’ (Prison service) at a relatively high rank and brought home spine chilling stories about the behaviour of the leaders of that time. SA needs Steve Biko’s wisdom more than ever today - the crying has turned to wailing.

I too watched Cry Freedom back in the late 80s and it really got hold of me. It shaped my world view of the atrocities of apartheid. At about the same time as I watched the film I was also reading a book about the injustice and brutality of the South African police and judiciary system. The book was called No Neutral Ground by Joel Carlson. A brilliant and insightful book that still reasonates deep within me today.

The Eyes of the World are watching now …. I feel so sad that often a revolution to replace a horrible regime in the end only gives way to an other horrible corrupt regime with the new main people of that new regime turning out as corrupt and incompetent and evil as those they put aside. With Mandela I had high hopes that this time it would all be good . But somehow his legacy is becoming corrupt. Helas

He was an amazing person, and the ideas behind Black Consciousness - that black people need to look to themselves and to their own mindset for liberation and empowerment is powerful and I think shares much with the early women’s liberation ideas and those of people like Germaine Greer, another honey badger. The story about Biko’s death at the hands of the apartheid security establishment was broken by then journalist Helen Zille, another honey badger. What ever noble ideas may have motivated the anti apartied theories the fact remains that S.A. went from a functioning country to chaotic, violent and failed state when apartied ended. We see similar patterns all overAfrica and the Arab world. This is very typical of the arrogance of liberals who live in the West and assume that all peoples and cultures act the same when controls are loosened. There in no doubt of Biko's courage but he was one of the few exceptions in a group of people neither of the right temperment or culture for self rule. War never ends in Africa. I know its not allowed to be even intimated but 100 years of world wide IQ testing may hold some answers. The West would be better using something like Star Treks prime directive when dealing with the backward cultures. All bringing the modern world to them did was make them more efficient killers. Better we leave them to their fate for another 100 years because our interventions are why there are a billion and a half Africans instead what nature would sustain at around 50 million. Its basically the same in the Arab world. Im sure most people are trained to immediatly call such ideas racism but perhaps realism is a better word. I enjoy your books, videos and ideas very much. Best Wishes from South Tel Aviv
