We do it because we are commanded to do it. I don't find that to be fully satisfying. If someone said to me "You are a Jew, and as a Jew there are specific rules for you to obey", I could understand that and even appreciate and respect that. I don't HAVE to know why some practices are important to God. But I am curious: why is keeping kosher something that is important to God? I can still follow the practice without knowing the explanation, but I would like to know the explanation for it anyway.
