Same. Branded player here and it got me 2nd guessing when he only mentioned the type change. I remember trying to summon grapha in md with lubells effect but was not able to due to grapaha being a 10*.
"The stat that no one has ever once used in this card..." hahaha yeah absolutely no one ever used it, why would you ever set your Ash face down and pass the turn hoping none of your opponent's plays can fly past your 4 other hand traps
Funny you mention that. Had a game with my now roommate where he was locked under rivalry of warlords after normal summoning an Aluber. I set rivalry ash as I was bricked, which is why I distinctly remember ash's defense since aluber can't attack over it.
@@mikehawk8984 The fact that Ash is a level 3 tuner is what allowed Kashtira to be able to make any of their monster into Baronne before that was banned.
@@e-tan3911 Ahhh yeah I totally forgot about that. I didn't like Kashtira format so I didn't really play much to see that happen, but they are all LV 7's so it makes sense 😅
What gave away the text for Blue-eyes for me was the lack of "Dragon/normal" it was just "Dragon". The rest of text it seemed wrong but I couldn't put my finger what and where lol. I thought Nibiru was wrong because the text size seemed wronged to me, so I thought it was something added in the text. Because I was so sure the text doesn't finish at the begining of the line and more at the end of it. Maybe font size had me second guessing myself here. Toon Dark Magician Girl got me with the "summon sickness" and "pay 500". Didn't know she was the only toon to not have due to text size! 4/6 I'll take it
@@faereman I have cards from the very first starter Decks Yugi, Kaiba and Joe and none of their Monsters list Normal just Dragon for Blue Eyes and Red Eyes and Spellcaster for Dark Magician. Some cards had it some not
@@zerosight1178 Yeah, I just took a look at my collection, and it seems that most of them do not say "normal" of them, including some cards I bought this year! But a couple of them do, so it's kind of inconsistent lol.
Spoilers for those playing along at home: I got the Blue-Eyes question right, but somehow I missed the fact that this first line was totally lifted from Dark Magician. Instead, I noticed that the fake text didn't have the words "Virtually invincible." I also missed Grapha being a Dragon instead of a Fiend, but I caught the (unmentioned) fact that he should've been a Lv 10 monster instead of Lv 11 because I play EARTH Machine and I know a Level 10 when I see one.
@@videogamesarecool9280 not all prints of old cards specify that they are Normal in the identifier text. There are also Tuner monsters from pre-PSCT in 2012 that don't say they are effect monsters.
@@videogamesarecool9280 some Blue Eyes only have Dragon I have 8 Blue Eyes in my collection and only 3 say [Dragon/Normal] the other 5 only say [Dragon] and yes they are all real cards
Got 4/6, that Zeus effect got me and I've only seen Grapha once or twice so I had no clue what it does. The Toon DMG was a nice surprise for me since I like exclusively played toons for a couple years
I really enjoyed this video, I have seen this same concept been done for hearthstone, but actually creating proxies for these physical cards is great. Hoping for more content like this!
Shockingly got the Toon DMG one right because I knew that they couldn't fit all the text on there so they left one out. I just wasn't sure which one. I vaguely remember everybody called her the best one because she didn't have something, so I took a shot in the dark and chose the worst effect on there, the summoning sickness lmao
i was both right and wrong on grapha, i noticed the level being 11 on accident and called it out as fake because of that instead of dragon/fiend swap lol. as soon as i saw a toon i knew it would be fake because of the effect before even reading it. there's just so many different toons with different restrictions, it was too tempting not to swap them around.
Bit dissapointed in Leoni knowlege as a Master Duel player. Ash is played a lot in MD, not knowing it has 3 effects worries me. Also thinking Blue Eyes is a lvl 7 monster with 3000 DEF is a bit mehhh..
10:19 Taylor looks about ready to explode there, I must commend his self-control on keeping a semblance of a poker face. :D And yeah, no one's ever just set Ash Blossom on a topdeck war or super bricked hand. Certainly not me. Stratos can't even beat a little ghost girl in a fistfight. >.>
I got all of them, although for toon dark magician girl I knew they didn't have space for all the toon effects/restrictions, though I couldnt remember which were left off.
It doesn't come up much, but I have absolutely seen Ash summoned in defense, lmao. I have also seen Ash used for a Synchro Summon. Both were incredibly desperate "this hand is TRASH" nonsense, but like, you do what you have to. :P
I noticed all of them apart from Blue Eyes and Grapha, honestly I was too distracted trying to think if the defense had been changed to notice the typing 😅
I’m not gonna be that guy that time stamps “misplays” but 12 is not the maximum number of stars, and I’m not even talking about level modulation, raidraptor has a rank 13. Also blue eyes does in fact play rank 8s like titanic galaxy.
Ya know Leoni's joke about fortune telling made me think, Yu-Gi-Oh has Prediction Princesses, Fortune Faries, Arcana Force, Spellbooks, and Fortune Ladies, all archetypes based on fortune reading and predicting the future. Every Yu-Gi-Oh anime (minus Vrains) also had a fortune teller character in each one. Maybe there's an episode in that. P.S. Of course we've never seen the Blue-Eyes Synchro, you think Blue-Eyes players know how to synchro summon?
My guesses: Blue-Eyes: the first line of flavour text is a spoof of Dark Magician's ZEUS: I got stumped by the last effect as well, but also it was on the thumbnail so it was obvious Ash Blossom: it lost 100 DEF Grapha: All Dark World are Fiends (I only noticed because she mentioned it being a Dragon) Nibiru: looks fine to me Toon DMG: She doesn't have the same restrictions as the first wave of Toons I'm going to say 4/6 because ZEUS stumped me and I needed the video to realize what was wrong with Grapha
So, playing along at home, first thing I would have caught is that you removed the Normal from beside the Dragon Type denotation. I would have been fooled by the rest of the flavortext though due specifically to it being similar, and the fact you stole half of it from Dark Magician, so I was internally thinking "was that a parallel?"
oh Leoni, Ash Blossom never happened to Foolish Burial? oh sweet summer child, there's a reason Ash Blossom is the bane of our existence for us Branded players
What even was the rank 8 XYZ she brought up when she was talking about Blue-Eyes? did she say "famous level 8 xyz" ? 'cause that's what i heard as, but I literally run a Cypher dragon package, Draglubion-Numeron Dragon pckage in my Blue-Eyes deck. XYZ is probably the best they can do alongside links. For fusion, I guess Tyrant and Twin are good, maybe Alternative Ultimate but that'd come up way less. For synchros, they can't really put multiple of their level 1 tuners on the board most of the time, so thinking oflevel 10-s like Baronne won't help, and they have their own pair of level 9-s in the form of Azure-Eyes, and Spirit Dragon. Blue-Eyes was way too easy. Zeus comes up way too often not to know. Ash even more so. Everyone runs her at 3. Grapha was the first hard one, but I think every dark world monster are fiends, so by this reasoning, I'd have assumed he is as well. Nibiru was actually the first I messed up. I tought it didn't specify "face up" As for Toon DMG, I kinda tought she had the OG nerfs like the first Toon monters all did, so I tought it was real. Guess I'm 4/6
1:51 how funny I made a blue eyes deck for a noob to learn the game with (hey you gotta work with what you got, would rather use Crusadia or World Chalice)
because we usually go for Fusion or Snychro summoning XYZ is not optimal cause we want to have at least one Blue Eyes on field or GY and not locked in a XYZ Monster. We need one so our Monsters can actually use their effects. Jet Dragon can only Special himself from hand or GY if there is a Blue Eyes on the field or GY. Same Goes for Abyss.
Well do keep in mind this is a German production, so aside from the existing challenge this is trying to solve little text changes in a language that is not your first language and not the primary language of the area you're working in. Most Germans speak English, but everything still defaults to German in most communication. Even RU-vid still has all German ads.
