I think this can also be used for film editing in which case its display of 97% of DCI-P3 is a real advantage at this price point. Good review,

Anyone using this monitor for photo editing doesn't need 4k. As long as it covers near 100% Adobe RGB and sRGB and it accurate then that is most important in a monitor like this.

Im looking at making this purchase in two weeks, but for the 4k monitor or possibly two. I will need this for photography and videography, shooting video with a blackmagic 4k. For video rec709 and for photography, I will be using adobe rgb for prints. Is this a great choice for both and I will be getting the calibrator with both.

what's more important, in my opinion, about that family of monitors is the fact that it display 10 bit per channel of color.

Is there and advantage for 2k over 4K?
@theschoolofphotography
@theschoolofphotography 4 года назад
Hi, yes 4k monitors have more resolution, which basically means you will see more detail.

Yes... an image or video will need less resources to process

if you use AutoCad, Vectorworks, PS, ID, Lr, Rhino, Revit, SketchUp, Cinema 4D, Lumion, Office stuff etc... i would go for 2k. the 4k scales all tiny down which is a pain in the ass for a good workflow. 2k is enough and delivers very good results. 4k needs more resources as well. if this is for PS, Lr only 4k is for sure a good option but doesnt make your personal work better...

I use a ASUS 27” for all my editing. Never calibrated, export to sRGB and never had issues. Honestly since everything is viewed online largely with mobile, having more than a 2k monitor for photography is pointless. You’ll be editing more detail for nothing, which is essentially a waste of time. And time is money, or sanity.

I've been using an I Mac the last 6 years for my photography work but have recently bought the new 16inch MacBook Pro m1 so my question is will I see a big difference coming from a 5k monitor to the benq 2k monitor or would I be better to go with the 4k version or another monitor that has 4k or will this 2k monitor be sufficient
@itzajdmting
@itzajdmting Год назад
Just curious what you went for, it's such a big jump in price for the 4k.

is the color calibration tool absolutely needed? I'm finding it difficult to spend $800 to then have to spend another $200. I'm doing zero print work, all social

For people reading this in the future. I think if you're doing no print then adobe rgb in general is overkill. When it's most important that people see your work optimized in srgb it would provide no benefit if you spend a couple of hundred bucks for accurate adobe rgb colors

It should indeed. You just have to sacrifice the hood which is not included and also it does not have a USB c port.

Why not go the extra mile and go for the 4k monitor? I assume you can do normal stuff with it to like watch netflix etc?

Hi, the 4k is more expensive. Yes you can watch Netflix on it. Thanks

The difference in price between a good 2K and a good 4K display is pretty significant. Especially if you're wanting a color accurate 10 bit panel that's been factory calibrated.
@NeilSnapePhotography
@NeilSnapePhotography 4 года назад
If the monitor is used for essentially stills photography, applications require significantly more video card power to display at $k. The SW270C will do this well without taxing your system. I have both the 4K and this one and I find I prefer this monitor for my photography. I use the 4K for video editing when shot at native 4K.

It is also very interesting to move your images around to different devices and see how they look on your phone, pc, tablet and tv because there are wide variations in how colors and contrast are displayed etc. My HP laptop is not very hot and when I edit I tend to up the white balance etc and it kind of blows out the colors a bit on other displays.

If your used to use macbook pro or any 4k display, don't buy the 2k version. Looks like I downgrade my monitor and regret buying the 2k ( but the colors and quality look great)

Seen a few negative comments, not necessary, it’s a easy explanation of a monitor vs a HD screen on a laptop or PC, it’s also dependant on what colour space you prefer to use, and what editing tools you use, I’m personally Mac, have been since day 1 of Mac, but that’s my fault! I used adobe colour space and always will do, interesting to see reply’s on a very good and intuitive video

I got a BenQ SW271 4K RGB Color Management Photographer Monitor and now to my 5 cent question: Will I benefit getting an EIZO ColorEdge CG2730 27 inch IPS Monitor, also an inside HW monitor calibrated 10 bit output thing, though with it's own calibration head and not a Spyder or X-Rite head...?? I have a stand by 27" Eizo Color Edge HD as a fall back monitor should the 4K BenQ fail of some reason. That actually happened to two panels inside my for BenQ 27 HD. 13 months I had to wait to get a repaired monitor back!!! Anyone here would back be up investing a bit more to get the Eizo monitor? Personally I find the Eizo Monitors being quite superior to the BenQ and what you get with the BenQ is just a lot of quality for your buck. Any feedback on my question would be most appreciated :)

You don't have more colors in AdobeRGB than in sRGB. You have same 256x256x256 colors.
