This is great information.I work in care in the uk ( Southampton )and the system is awful . More foreigners than english caring and alot i come across do not give the quality of care that should be given even down to basic washing of residents. Terrible! Im looking at retiring in Thailand in just over 10 years early 60's so these are the things i am looking at in advance. The NHS has gone right down hill and i believe in time it will all be privatised. Thankyou for the great interview.

A very interesting interview on the complexities involved. On a side note, my understanding in Aug 2024 is that Jersey CI care home fees are all now very similar to each other as Jersey caps the maximum payment at £75,000 after which Jersey States picks up the Bill.

This is great. I’m curious about a single person who retires in Thailand then has a situation where you may be incapacitated. How do you go from living independently to a care home if you are alone with no assistance?

There are assisted communities for able bodied people, which also have tiered accommodation for those who become less able over time. So I expect you would need to contact one of these facilities and plan ahead. Probably having to move into one of these villages in advance. There will be no assistance from the Thai government, nor from your home country I expect. Sorry to be no more help.

@@ThailandChitChat this is good information. With all the expats I can’t imagine this hasn’t been an issue for people. Would love to see more info on this type of situation.
