My PSA AR-10 shoots .75" groups at 100 yds. off of a sandbag with a cheap bushnell scope. It's my favorite rifle.

Carried an M16 in the USAF, 78-82', but opted for an Aero Precision .308. Screw the ammo weight, I already lift weights. I'll just incorporate it into my workout.

A while back, I built an AR-10 out of an 80 lower. They are similar, but not exactly the same as an AR-15 where assembly is concerned. That said, it is built as a longer distance precision platform. The only drawback is the cost of .308 ammo limits the amount of fun I have with it.

FYI , you can get AR's in 30-06 as well.

The bigger the caliber the better as long as you can afford to feed it and handle the recoil. I really like the modular capabilities of the AR. It's 5 less AR's so it's less lethal than the scary ar15 that is as heavy as 10 boxes you might move.

The more I see people fire .308 the less I want to shoot 5.56. I get the "3-0-Hate" reference now. Its like every round is a haymaker

Seeing the close up on the fire mode selector made me reminisce about the first time I saw my M-16 in basic training in 1969. On the M-16 it was off, semi and auto and I remember how eager I was to see what it would be like to fire it on auto, although that was forbidden on the range.

Probably more likely to have feeding problems with 5.56 in that one. Just get dedicated platforms and do away with changing uppers back and forth.

Hey Hickok, great to see another video it has been awhile. I have learned so much about firearms from you that I just want to say thank you for everything you have done. Tonight I must take exception to a small part of your video. Your light hearted comments on your bayonet sent chills up my spine. Using one to make a joke and using one to take a life are two different things. I wish I could have made jokes instead of the other option.

I have 3 AR15s. One is a colt. I definitely like the look of this the ability to interchange the Upper with a AR15. The 308 mag a plus I learn so much watching your content.

One day I'd like to be rocking some ear pro that isn't a bulky earmuff, forcing my head up and requiring risers on all of my optics, and a set that's _not_ $200. Indoor ranges all around me have either the crummy muffs people wear for chainsaw/lawnmowing or those useless foam bits. I would've been using my (noise cancelling Skullcandy) wireless buds this whole time but even as loud as I listen to rock music it's not certain to work. Maybe for outside shooting.

I have had those quick detach sling swivels pop out enough were I will not use them anymore. I just run my sling through the rail slots.

I hate it when people ask if we "need" a gun or not. It's a slippery slope of gun confiscation.

Got my sons each a starter AR15 for a killer deal: just ATI OMNI HYBRID rifles. And they tricked them out pretty much in their own way. I had sourced a bunch of AR parts and an 80% lower that had been completed. My youngest son built his own 24" barreled .224 Valkyrie rifle and shortly after that he built a .308 AR10. He put a heavy 18" barrel but he used the Magpul Gen 3 PRS adjustable stock so he felt ot was too heavy. I ended up buying his heavy barrel and am building my own AR10 .308 now, the upper is complete but I haven't finish machined the 80% lower yet. I got a bunch of MAGPUL PMAGS for it, and I have all the parts to build it. Just going to run a SOPMOD stock. I also decided to source parts to build one chambered in 6.5 Creedmore. Pretty fun to build your own AR's I've done a 6.5 Grendel and 3 lightweight uppers in 5.56, eventually I will have them each their own completed lowers, and a couple of 9mm 16" rifles, using MEAN ARMS endomags and a standard AR15 lower and also a mag well modifier to run Colt stick mags. It's a fun hobby but somewhat expensive 😅.

The sound reminds me of the street shootout in 'Heat'.

Knew it was a Colt 901 soon as I seen the thumbnail, instantly clicked, this rifle should have seen service in the armed forces in a standardized role. Maybe SF or SOCOM played with them a little but I remember seeing the specs on this rifle and thinking it would be a good evolution over the M16A4s. I believe it may have came along towards the beginning of the end for Colt's monopoly on US service weapons, though I could be mistaken, too late in the game to secure the throne. Still it was not a bad design, the mag block feature was innovative for the era.

If they made one in 300 win mag I would even buy that. Anything with a 30 rnd mag gets me intrigued.

I see it has the very early M16 style, 3-prong flash suppressor. They were replaced, early on, with the "birdcage" style, because GIs used the 3-prong one to bend & break the wire used on 'C' ration cases. Problem was, that abuse quickly loosened the flash suppressor. The birdcage solved that, but I guess it's a non-issue nowadays. LOL

I got a POF revolution DI 18.5" 308 for 1499 best rifle ever 6.8 pounds made by a Christian and is a ar15 chambered in 308 with the full auto testing they did and the long term testing its my favorite firearm if I could only own one gun this is it.

I have built a series of AR-15s in various calibers, .300 BlkOut, .223 Wylde, 5.56 NATO, 7.62 x 39mm, etc. I also have built AR10s in 6.5 Creedmoor & 7.62 x 51 (Win 308). THAT TOTALLY ASIDE...that's a TRULY SLICK GUN YOU HAVE RIGHT THERE! WAY too much fun. IF, you snuck back to the firing line after changing uppers from 5.56x45 to 7.62x51, folks will be looking around for where all the noise is coming from. 🤪 Extra CRACK, extra reach, extra THUD ... and very few extra parts to carry to the range. Fail to see the practicality for hunting but great for the range. What kind of price for this fine example of human engineering with 5.56 and 7.62 uppers? Still need two sets of optics...

I’ve got an RRA Operator.308 basically AR10 platform but have a Colt M4 in normal.223 .556 ….great stuff! I want to see you shoot something with a Hico magazine like the PP 19 Bizon! Keep being awesome my fellow patriot!!

Regarding polymer magazines I guess the 10/22 mags have been poly forever. Proven tough.

Having competed in a 3-gun league for years, the difference between 5.56 and 7.62 is burned into my brain. Taking down full steel item targets on a rail at 200 meters, the 5.56 returns a "ping" and then you see the target tipping, and falling on it's back. Hitting with a 7.62, the sound is like a "THWAP", and you see the steel flipping backward away from the rail, before you hear said "THWAP". It depended on the course which rifle was a better choice, usually the quicker handling and shot recovery of the 5.56 made sense, but I took good advantage of the larger rifle on a few courses. It was a game, and score divided by time determined winners. We also knew, at least a few minutes before the first shooter, what the targets and ranges etc. were.
