In this video I take you through the £8270 worth of options that have been fitted to this 2019 Audi Q3 S line 45 TFSI which is a press demonstration vehicle very kindly supplied by Audi UK.

Love the spec of this car but wow soon adds up - does allow buyer to tailor car to own needs however - great content Andrew as really enjoying your videos

My wife wanted to a Suv as Audi A3 was too small now as got little one and my mum who has alzheimer's. We looked at the Q5 & Q3 but were way to expensive. So decided to go for the Honda CRV instead. Plus wanted to stay away from the German dealerships by me. My cousin sister has the new Q5 does the look the part and feels good. There is a lot of competition in the Suv market now. The new Seat Cupra Ateca has some fab reviews too and do like the look and performance of it. All comes down to your budget tho!!! 👍

Audi sure know how to charge for options. When I was choosing between a fully loaded Golf GTI or a poverty pack TT for the same money, it was a no brainer. Even climate control was on the Audi's option list, which is bonkers.

I think that's why you see so few Mk3 TTs. Until the Mk3 TT, climate was standard but Audi must have copied Porsche because on Boxster/Cayman climate has always been an option. Unfortunately the draw of a Porsche is hard for an Audi to compete with and buyers looked elsewhere

I’m looking to get the new upcoming Audi A3 that should be announced sometime this year - I did a quick build and the options come to around £9000. Got no choice as the options is a must have

It's important to get the car how you want it and if you keep it for long enough and enjoy the options during that time and get some money back for them when you sell it then that's all you can expect. It's just a case of choosing options that increase the desirability and avoiding those that devalue the car like those orange bits on the Q3.

As much as the Jaffa Cake trim is too much, I think it looked great with the ambient lighting. Does the sunroof not have a one-touch operation?

Hi Cris, yes the sunroof was one touch. I got used to the Jaffa but was always wondering what one of the less in-yer-face colours would have looked like

Weird. I've just ordered an audi q3 and most of the options your saying are not on an options list whatsoever as per the car configuration tool online you can check so God knows where there them options come from. The rear view camera is in the comfort and sound pack as is the b and o sound system. Whys the camera therefore shown as £395.very odd. Also the 12.3 cockpit isn't an option its only on the top end edition 1 and vorsprung models... Update that's because your driving the 45tfsi quattro. You should really have mentioned some options aren't on certain models really like the 35tfsi S line like mine.either that or the configuration tools crap as it says the flat bottom steering wheel is only available on manual transmission! Now Im confused as anyone

Those wheels looks a tiny bit better than the standard sline, we almost got that option but cleaning the wheel barrels is a big deal to me so it wasn’t practical

Do the car manufacturers make more money with the expensive extras ? They must do otherwise they would not have them . Maybe they should have most options as standard & change the price of the car .

They love extras as they make a lot of money from them. To a degree it's OK because it's customisation/personalisation - if every car had every option every car would be the same which wouldn't be as appealing to owner in this premium segment. I think Seat are making models with a high basic spec under the 'Lux' designation.

I haven't 'left' VW fully, there will be many videos to come on their cars. My Clubsport S ownership came to a dead end, too capable for the road, too precious to track it so I sold it to get some money together to move house and fulfil the R8 dream before I complete. I can't afford to lose much money on cars and the Up! GTI was looking a bit shaky pricewise so this coupled with me having to do more miles commuting meant it had to go and A2 TDI which is better for motorways and less sensitive to miles affecting value took its place & has proven excellent. However I've had a few run-ins with VW recently, the last of which cost me £5000 to replace a DSG box on a Mk7R that was under their warranty and which they caused the failure of, before that was the rusty wing on my Mk5 GTI which they decided had a 10 year body warranty not the 12 it was sold with. Since dieselgate, VW's accountants have been doing everything to cut costs such as rejecting warranty claims, cutting quality and content on cars where you may not notice, putting the cost of parts up, reducing the trade discount on parts (I get a miserable 2% off which is an insult) - basically the customer (many of whom are loyal VW buyers and owners) are bearing the brunt of their criminality and frankly I think that's a wrong. It's made me question why the hell am I making videos promoting the products of a brand that behaves in this questionable way, especially when they are my own cars not press cars (I've asked and they've said no) and are therefore costing me to do so. And this was before the £5k DSG bill came along which was the final nail in the coffin (a video made on this will be made in due course rest assured). I was going to buy a GTI TCR for a bit of fun and to make some videos but even if I could afford to after the £5k bill (I can't), how could I invest £30k + into a brand that has treated me so unfairly mainly to make videos promoting them?

@@volkswizard Okay mate i understand you. Im really sorry you had to deal with all this. When a company is as big as VW, it seems a customer dosent have a lot to say. In general sometimes i prefer smaller companies, because they know they cant afford to mess up their services! And therefore often small companies keeps a good/better service! 👍 But when it comes to car brands, all of them surviving is so big so we may have less options. Anyways, hope your happy with your R8 & that Audi wont let you down. You mentioned ride comfort. Are the dampers on R8 good? Did you ever thought of getting a set of coil overs to improve comfort?

@@tredfxman R8 is mega comfortable on its magnetic ride dampers as long as you don't put it into sport mode. It was a pleasant surprise. In the video when I collected it from Scotland it said was plush "like a limo" which was a bit excessive but it's no worse than say a Golf R on 19" wheels and passive dampers. Mag ride can be problematic and expensive to replace but touch would mine's fine which is probably due to it being a later car. I'd be reluctant to fit coilovers as the aluminium space frame may not be strong enough to deal with the harder shocks they can exert upon it from our awful UK roads.

Think paddle shifters come standard on s-line .. even with normal round steering

I've checked the configurator and with S line selected it makes a point of saying that the flat bottom £250 wheel includes paddles when it doesn't for the standard wheel. I doubt this link will work but here you go www.uk.audi.com/uk/web/en/models/q3/q3/equipment.html#

It was a while ago but don't think so on the S line.On newer Audis if you spec lane assist, this means you have to have a round steering wheel

Simple answer, YES. If you don't spend money on options, it will be a poverty spec stripper. You better off be taking the bus than driving a stripper.
