Hammers and Frogspawns are no longer in the genus euphyllia. That’s also probably the reason they don’t get along with torches. Hammers and frogspawns are now fimbriaphyllia
@Boogerdick69
@Boogerdick69 2 года назад
Yeah, over a year ago my hammers destroyed some torches. They recovered though 100%, took a while. I still like frogspawn the most, even though torches have the best colors

This is so classic :D Corals beeing missclassified and the hobby beeing really slow to catch on once properly classified.
@Entety303
@Entety303 2 года назад
@@TheIncredibleHieb reclassified not misclassified. Hobbyists are technically misclassifying them.
@TheIncredibleHieb
@TheIncredibleHieb 2 года назад
@@Entety303 well if they are reclassified they weren't classified right before. Maybe to best knowledge, but not right.
@Entety303
@Entety303 2 года назад
@@TheIncredibleHieb it’s hard with this topic since if you would place a hammer in the fungia genus that would be a misclassification. But if it’s believed to be something else and then reclassified I would say that’s different.

I have two little torches and I adore them both and I was able to get both of them for steals - $50 for the teensy one and $60 for the other. None of them are fancy morphs and I don't care because to me all that matters is that I personally really adore them.❤

One of the corals that brought me into this hobby. After I bleached my first one (temp), I can’t own another. May try in a few months or year, but I would never spend $200+ on a coral again. If I were to get a torch, I’d have to get it for less than $50. Stunning corals, bad memories.

In my experience, I have found that although generally more expensive, Indo torch varieties are far more forgiving, fast-growing, and generally easier than Aussie torches.

I agree with you on the clown tang! At a local retail shop they had one in their 400 gallon tank and it ravaged every fish in there and they could not get it out. It would avoid traps like the plague!

I almost bought a clown tang a few weeks ago but didn't know that much about them as a specific fish went away did some research decided against it ,the next day you released the first video about the experience you have had with this sod and I am so glad I didn't buy it even though they are really pretty

I bought a hammer coral and a torch coral at the same time and the hammer is slowly deteriorating and the torch is taking off. Not sure what the issue is.
@thatstonerr7738
@thatstonerr7738 2 месяца назад
Nah I can tell you with certainty the number one way to prevent bacterial infections with torch’s is a proper amount of UV filtration in your system in my torch system I usually run about 26watts worth of uv in that system to kill off any bacteria or rather get it to low enough concentrations to never be able to infect the torch’s I’ve never had a issue except for one torch that for some reason just didn’t like life and ejected its polyp

Yes, my Torches are thriving , were as every toadstool ,cabbage leather I've added wilts and dies, nah start with soft corals everybody says, my torch is growing faster than my GSP and that's been in the tank longer.

Just lost my one and only torch head last week to I'm guessing brown jelly. It started melting overnight and a dip didn't save it. It was doing great before hand. ☹️

Had a really nice green with pink tips torch that was 3 heads with one splitting, had it for a few weeks and got brown jelly... It was heart breaking seeing it just decompose within days and couldn't stop it, which then eventually killed all my hammers, won't be spending bit money or a torch again 😔

I think I killed my most recent torch with too much flow and then too little. I had my powerhead on random like everyone always says but I think the peaks and valleys were too much for it. I was using a nero 3 in my IM 25 Lagoon and at 75-80% that can be near 1500gph which might be too much for a shallow 2 foot tank.... I don't know I only have the one power head. I am hoping to sell it and get a gyre-style powerhead soon. I wish I had seen this video sooner! Between this and the one on feeding I am subbing haha thanks!
