Get a Life was one of my favorite shows of the 90s (along with Parker Lewis Can't Lose and Eerie, Indiana)

I don't know why this popped up but I'm so grateful it did. That intro of the guy delivering papers, along with a bizarre handful of odd and bizarre shadows of memories, has been stuck in my head for ages and I could not recall what the show was called. Thank you!

This channel is always such a surprise... I did nothing but watch TV 8 hours a day from roughly 1985 to 1999, and I don't remember any of these!

I saw Get A Life and clicked. That show was twisted genius, and it's a shame Adult Swim wasn't around then. They would have gotten it. "Spewie and Me" is one of the greatest things to ever be shown on TV. (By the way, your dad sounds awesome.)

I think "Heil Honey, I'm Home" is absolutely brilliant. It's not a parody of Hitler, it's a parody of sitcoms! The creators asked and answered an amazing question: what would happen if we took the classic sitcom formula, and built it around the most ridiculous possible choice for a main character? I think the idea is hilarious and they actually executed it really well, they perfectly captured the 1950's sitcom feel. I really hope the un-aired episodes get released!

I did watch "Dream On". I remember back then that it was talked about how the show was one of the first cable shows to achieve mainstream success. I do think its largely been forgotten nowadays. I only other show I remember "Get A Life", but never watched a show.

The Get a Life producers were ahead of the curve. I don’t know how “big” REM were by 1990 but hearing Stand in the intro absolutely caught me off guard.

I watched a LOT of Dream on as a kid. I also loved Nick at Nite which was like a primer to the humor on Dream On.

I vaguely "remember" some of them, but didn't really watch them aside from a few episodes of "Maniac Mansion" out of order. I turned 10 in 91, I was often pretty busy with homework at the time and the only exception I could really get my dad to make was to allow me to watch Star Trek TNG/DS9?VOY episodes (new/reruns) during homework breaks in the 90s.

Maniac Mansion and Doghouse were both favourites of mine! I actually got to meet George Buza (Turner) a few months ago at Comic Expo! ❤

You didn't even mention that "Dream On" was created by Marta Kauffman and David Crane, who would go on to create a little-known sitcom for NBC four years later called "Friends."

I saw Dream On as a kid. I also remember Get a Life. Then I remember watching Maniac Mansion after I played the game.

4:51 Turner is a toddler but mutates into an adult after going into a chamber (trying to retrieve a ball). The uncle (played by John Hemphill) goes in after his nephew but is mutated into a fly.

Maniac mansion all of its episodes can be watched on RU-vid not sure about get a life but probably alot of shows from the past can be found here and maniac mansion is definitely one of them used to air on Saturday mornings along with the cartoons

The only ones I clearly remember are Dream On and Get a Life, though Maniac Mansion is ringing some bells very faintly (especially the fly with a human head). Now it's time to see if there's a video on '92!

The 1990s , that's when the gentle slope of everything in general began to speed up.Every 20 years there's another shift to a new chapter in our history. It's mind-bogglin.

The three that I remember are Dream On, Get a Life and What a Dummy. I remember Dream On started out airing at 830pm on Friday nights right after Tales from the Crypt. What a Dummy I remember airing on Saturday mornings usually right after cartoons.

Wow I had completely forgotten Maniac Mansion, only after seeing the fly man did my memories return.😂❤

I just bought the complete series of Get A Life on DVD….. I remember watching when I was 10ish….. I thought it was funny back then, but I’m sure most of the real jokes went over my head. Looking forward to revisiting it now that I’m 40+ years old……

I loved HBO's "Dream On" as a 90's kid for obvious reasons ( o )( o ). But "Get a Life" was hilarious. I could have sworn that show came out in like 1993, but I guess not. That talking dog show looked funny.

I really wanted to watch Manic Mansion when I was a kid since it was one of my favorite games, but we didn't have cable. I looked it up on youtube a few years ago and was disappointed at how different it was, but it was interesting enough that I ended up watching a season or two.

Get a life was such a surreal show. Even at like 6 or 7 years old, and also thanks to many explanations from my older brothers, we understood why a completely utter failure of a man like Chris was hilarious. He was just so incompetent and nobody respected him lmao. I remember this one episode where he was going to leave his parent's house, but the ENTIRE episode was about him not being able to leave the house because the doorknobs were broken and a few other technical reasons he didnt know how to fix. He LITERALLY was too incompetent to run away from home lmao. Man I miss that show. Maniac Mansion- man, I was so mad that it didnt really have anything to do with the Nintendo game. Or at least it didnt have the same story.

You were definitely right about the USA morning syndications on Get a Life. I have a vhs recording of some. I hated not hearing the REM classic. They would air right after either John Laroquette show reruns or Wings. Dont remember which one.

Dream On- weird no, far fetched, Yes! Loved this show! Brian Benben played a book editor about 5ft 6in and got more action than an arcade machine. Get A life was weird! But I enjoyed the heck out of it! always enjoy Chris Elliot

I loved Dream On, started watching it for the obvious a 12 year old kid would, because I knew I wasn't allowed 😂, but it turned out to be a well written show, I stuck with it till the very last episode! I really wish Max would make the series available for streaming, I tried collecting the dvds years ago but only found season 1 and 2.

Dream On was an adult version of Seinfeld. While Seinfeld was pretty close to a show about nothing, dream on was a very imaginative Gen X show that centered on how TV shows became our cultural reference in the modern era. It tackled many of the same subjects that Seinfeld did in terms of character arcs, but had the added bonus of conveying emotions and ideas through a cleverly spliced scene from an old show or movie. It was brilliant in my opinion.

They used to show 'Dream On' Friday nights on Channel 4 here in the UK. It was great! The b&w daydreams of old tv shows were a really clever idea.

Heil Honey didn't even finish airing. The broadcast was cut in the middle of the show after the station was innundated with phone calls complaining about it.
