If don’t want to read the Bible you can always look up a subject on the internet, it’ll explain it all for you. Mind you you don’t have to believe anything you don’t agree with. You have free will. America's origins were deeply religious and infused with faith traditions informed by the Bible. Many of the early English settlers came to America fleeing religious persecution. The original thirteen colonies, chartered by the Crown, were in fact under the rule of a Christian state with an established church. Our laws come from the Bible. For instance the Ten Commandments. If you look at the monuments in Washington DC: The Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial are just two examples of how the Bible is memorialized in the city's stone. I recommend you research this topic. Like I stated I’m not here to suggest anything to you.

This means “Praise be to God” When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848, deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. The Coinage Act of 1873 allowed for the motto to be printed on all newly minted coins, and on July 11, 1955, Congress passed H.R. 619 which mandated "In God We Trust" be included on all U.S. currency Only a few decades ago, a Christian identity was so common among Americans that it could almost be taken for granted. As recently as the early 1990s, about 90% of U.S. adults identified as Christians. But today, about two-thirds of adults are Christians. The change in America’s religious composition is largely the result of large numbers of adults switching out of the religion in which they were raised to become religiously unaffiliated. To me that is a darn shame. This country has been pushing God out of our lives for decades. Madalyn Murray O'Hair. was an American activist and Holocaust denier supporting atheism and separation of church and state. In 1963, she founded American Atheistsand served as its president until 1986, after which her son Jon Garth Murray succeeded her. She created the first issues of American Atheist Magazine and identified as a "militant feminist". O'Hair is best known for the Murray v. Curlettlawsuit, which challenged the policy of mandatory prayers and Bible reading in Baltimore public schools, in which she named her first son William J. Murray as plaintiff. Consolidated with Abington School District v. Schempp(1963), it was heard by the United States Supreme Court, which ruled that officially sanctioned mandatory Bible-reading in American public schools was unconstitutional. The Supreme Court had prohibited officially sponsored prayer in schools in Engel v. Vitale(1962) on similar grounds. After she founded the American Atheists and won Murray v. Curlett, she achieved attention to the extent that in 1964, Life magazine referred to her as "the most hated woman in America". In 1995, O'Hair, her son Garth, and her granddaughter Robin disappeared from Austin, Texas. Initial speculation suggested the trio had absconded with hundreds of thousands of dollars from American Atheists coffers; in fact, the trio had been murdered by their former associates, and the bodies were not found until 2001.
