Doc's Long Lost Love  

While watching this clip of the show, I was reminded again HOW HANDSOME JAMES ARNESS IS!

What I really liked was watching the actor's characters evolve over time. The show also covered some topics which weren't dealt with on t.v. at that time, like rape. And there was one episode which stays with me about a gunslinger who killed a man in cold blood but wasn't covicted for some reason. The whole town turns against him and shuns him. At the end he leaves town during a terrible wind storm and though a couple of men encounter him, they leave him to die alone. Another episode starred a great character actor John Dehner, who played this sad, lonely man who leaves his farm with his dog and ventures into Dodge to try to make something of himself. He wants to be like Matt Dillon. His wife, by the way, mocks and belittles him. He meets a saloon girl who sees the good in him but when he tries to stand up for her to a bully, he's shot to death. His dog is with him. It was a very sad, moving episode.

Number one for me! I will challenge anybody to a six-gun duel if anyone tells me this was not the best western ever!

My most memorable episode had a gunman gutshoot Matt Dillon. He did it at almost belt buckle to belt buckle range because he was very fast but couldn't shoot for shit. Dillon foced him into a rematch from across the room.
