Just saw a pain management doc this morning who explained this procedure to me exactly as you did. I have problems with balance and standing as well as LSS and after he sees my new MRI we are considering this procedure.

I found out today I can get the MILD procedure done and that I have two spinal stenosis. I was told typically insurance won't approve two at a time, so the plan is for my Dr to ask for approval for the one that's creating the most pain in my lumbar, let it be for about 12 weeks which I was told you'll have full benefit by then. I'd then have the 2nd one done. It usually takes a week or two to get an approval back from my insurance. I'm excited and can't wait to have this done!

Congenital Spinal Stenosis, here. Diagnosed in thirties. First herniation in late teens. Have had countless epidurals at two levels. Only one worked, and it provided relief for a week. About all they did was delay much needed surgery. Two Microdiscectomies with Laminectomies at two different levels. 1 1/2" incisions, but these were done years ago. Two different doctors. Separated by five years. Both provided instant relief of life altering sciatica. Both have never reherniated, and statistically, never should. Was walking immediately. Zero pain. Back to work in less than a week.

I just found out I have congenital spinal stenosis and I am miserable. I finally went to a spine doctor a couple of weeks ago and they did X-rays on me and said I have an overgrowth on one of the facet joints. I’m going to get an mri done on November 13th and then I will find out everything but I don’t want to waste time on injections. I want surgery if needed because I have been so miserable and it has been the most debilitating thing ever!!!

Had my mild procedure 3 days ago and I can already feel the difference. What a great new medical development! How long is the mild procedure been available to the public?

@@jmariew9966 Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm looking at having this done after many years of sometimes excruciating pain. I'm a little nervous - as I have been with all of the other procedures, 3 rounds of the steroid injections & radiofrequency ablation. I'm learning all I can about this procedure & it seems to make sense that this procedure would give some relief. So...maybe?....

I am 12 days post MILD. Unfortunately, my pain is worse than before the procedure. I know that it has a high success rate, and maybe it will ultimately work for me, but thus far it has not been positive.

Thank you for explaining the MILD procedure. If a patient has herniated discs and stenosis, is MILD a good procedure? Epidurals used to work but seem to not be helping now

Can this be done in combination with the Ultrasonic tool. I would be okay doing just your procedure and maybe I won't need anything more. I will try to schedule with you.

The NP at the pain center I go to gave me information about this procedure today. I've been dealing with back pain for years and cervial problems for 3 years. Epidurals only help a little and dont last long. My first lumbar RFA was 6 months ago, followed by a nerve block. Still in pain. Hurt to stand. I enjoy gardening, but it's getting harder to do. Tired of taking opioids, muscle relaxers, and gabapentin.
@John-i7i3q
@John-i7i3q 5 месяцев назад
Please consider tapering off your opioids, I did it, and my pain level dropped dramatically. After a while, the opioids actually cause worse pain research it online, you will see.

Does this have any impact/benefit on lumbar foraminal stenosis? Also what is your opinion on a pain management doctor performing this surgery vs a spine surgeon performing the surgery?

I am preparing to have the MILD procedure in less than one-week for my LSS, which has not been resolved by any of the normal modes of treatment. My question is: Can the MILD procedure be done more than once ? Thank you.

Hey Patrick - I hope your procedure went well. Great question. I'm looking into this procedure as well after my Doctor recommended it. I've had little success from the steroid injections & the radiofrequency ablation procedure. This m.i.l.d. procedure seems to make sense that it would really help. If it's ok for me to ask - how did yours go? How much relief did you get?

Can someone who has already had a laminectomy in one area have this procedure done at another level (which they have been advised to undergo another laminectomy?)
@pennsylvaniapainspineinsti4872
Hi Vikki! Each patient diagnosis and treatment is unique, but generally procedures can be performed at different levels. Our providers would be able to tell you if this would be the right choice for you after they complete their evaluation.

Hello. If you have to snip ligament instead of chipping away at bone does that create a potential problem? Like snipping creates a tear right? What if the ligament were to tear completely? Thank you!

I'm not getting the procedure done yet, but I hear what you're saying. My laminectomy years ago resulted in post laminectomy syndrome and severe stenosis in the area above the surgery, which is part of the post laminectomy syndrome. Like a stack of dominoes... The MILD procedure beats a laminectomy in my opinion. There are some risks involved in it though.
