All that is a crock of chit. Enabling addicts isn't the way to go even if it means relieving some pain for a short period of time. Or even because of a mental illness like depression. The fact that there are alternatives enabling a addict only helps shorten their life.
@bri5155
@bri5155 Год назад
@@robertlavigne9828 you really should educate yourself. This isn’t enabling. When addicts feel safe and not judged they are FAR more likely to ask for help. Which means they are far more likely to get sober. It’s far more difficult to get these people help when there is so much shame, stigma, and judgmental attitudes like yours. Countries that have decriminalized drugs have lower rates of addiction and lower rates of overdose. Substance use disorder is a disease that needs treatment, not jail time and judgement. These sites keep people safe. Not only are less people dying when these sites are legal and easy to access, but less disease gets spread around within communities and more people find sobriety. I encourage you to educate yourself on these matters so you can find some empathy within your heart for these human beings who are struggling. Good luck to you and God Bless.

This is legal in Vancouver Canada. There is a huge drug problem over there. They’re spots all over the city like this, safe injection sites… run by doctors, social workers and nurses. People who do suffer with addiction don’t get arrested, your drugs get tested, they give you a safe place to inject, provide you with equipment needed (needles, alcohol pads, etc), doctors/nurses are onsite to save peoples lives if they OD, free counselling. There aren’t cops lurking to arrest you when you come out of these sites.

They’re just there to keep you safe. I mean if these people are going to use no matter what, and they will, then why not give them a safe space not ONLY for them but for the surrounding area and people. I realize it's a show but it's important to show how to use Narcan the right way. You would need a second bottle to put in the other nostril and wait 2-3 minutes before administering the second dose.

Aren't cops required by law to tell the person under arrest why they are being arrested? I mean I'm know she knows she broke the law regarding drug usage and knowingly aiding someone take illegal drugs. But the cops can't just haul her away like that in front of her co-workers without explaining what's going on. What if, let's say it was another doctor who looked like her doing the drug thing? The cops could be potentially arresting an innocent person over a case of mistaken identity. And besides, can they legally take a doctor or a nurse out of a hospital without clearing it up with the hospital board and her superiors? Because I remember one incident in Utah where a nurse was aggressively arrested by a cop because she refused to give him a blood sample of a potential suspect. The thing is the nurse was in the right, they can't give blood samples to the cops without either consent or a warrant. Even the hospital board warned the cop he was about to break the law being as pushy as he was. The cop ended up dragging the nurse out of the hospital kicking and screaming and was physically harmed while being handcuffed. The nurse got a settlement from the city, the cop was fired and the hospital decided to ban the cops from ever contacting any of their staff again: they have to speak directly with the board to even get permission to come unto the hospital premises while in uniform.

People are gonna do drugs one way or another. A bad environment doesn’t deter people because that logic doesn’t work on addicts. Addicts don’t burn the same oil as everyone else. If you vive them the ultimatum of drugs or safety, the drugs usually come first because they do what nothing else can.
@ShirleyAPina
@ShirleyAPina Год назад
However, being in constant chronic Intractable pain comes with its own set of troubles. There's a tolerance built up, meaning a higher dose is needed. This doesn't make them an Addict! If someone is turning to the streets, this would be their safest bet. Otherwise, doctors Should be Able to treat their patients in pain with the proper doses while in pain management, NOT THE GOVERNMENT BY ANY MEANS, THEY'RE NOT EDUCATED ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND UNLESS, OF COURSE, IT HAPPENS TO THEM! DR-PATIENT RELATIONSHIPS HAVE BEEN ABOLISHED, THEREFORE CAUSING SOME TO THE STREETS JUST TO EASE THE EXCRUCIATING PAIN WHICH WAS ONCE CONTROLLED GIVING A QUALITY OF LIFE! Now all anyone wants to do is give Narcan which reverses the effects of the drug and then the whole cycle begins again until control over their pain is achieved.

There's a group that's trying to fund sites like these in my city, but opponents are all over claiming it will promote drug use and violent crime (never mind that loads of statistics show that it actually reduces those things by making it easier for people to consider rehab and making it harder for violent criminals to thrive in drug dens).
