Bwahaha ... Expert System diagnosis has been around since the 70s. Doctors want to outsource their malpractice liability to Google. I brought up this point at an AI conference in Denver in 1984. We tried to implement a Dental practice add-on to the DoD Health Record system (AHALTA) circa 2014. Before it could be fully deployed, the dentists revolted and forced the termination of that add-on. The DoD has moved on to their third-generation system (GENESIS) and have completed deployment as of last year. I am sure it is a giant mess, maybe worse than AHLTA ;-( The VA is in a similar mess trying to implement a DoD compatible system, running a few years behind the DoD effort.

Community based curation is arguably already being introduced into the structure of LLMs, with the whole Mixture of Experts structure. Granted, it's usually only 8 experts, as opposed to, say, 150+ experts, but it is at least leaning in that direction.

As a fellow physician I agree with Doc Jim. I would add that non-profit doesn't mean good. It just means that you spend what you earn. Non-profits tend to have very low accountability (market forces don't force change) and bloated cost structures (especially in admin/personnel). They have few incentives to lower costs as long as they earn enough. They operate much like a school system. Some of the biggest medical bills I have ever seen come from non-profits.

Is it as simple as this: AI does not have a right lobe of its “brain”? It will always have to outsource “what don’t I see?” to human beings (meaning makers). Edit: ie AI will never know what it doesn’t know. Humans can (and should), if they are knowing as they are known-iconically.
