Sam Raimi, Director of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy directed this movie. Its a big milestone for MCU by adding horror elements, and Sam Raimi was good at it. Fun fact, back in Spider-Man 2, Doctor Strange's name was mentioned in Daily Bugle, and J. Jonah Jameson said the name was "taken". And now, Sam Raimi is directing the Doctor Strange movie, life is funny.
They still held him back too much. This movie feels like half-Raimi cheese and horror, and half-MCU formula, and not in a good way. That and the CGI and effects sucked.
@@Edwin.X look at the shot comp in the opening scene when America lands in the platform holding the book on the other side of the monster chasing her and ponytail Dr. Strange. Look at Wanda coming out of the gong at Kamar Taj or whatever it’s called. Look at the stretchy animations of Mr. Fantastic. The third eye. The shot comp of the tentacle monster and the lighting not fully blended and baked. When Dr. Strange and America are falling through multiple universes, the cartoonish animations looked more real than the “live-action” ones. I can give you examples all day long, you snarky, petty fuck. I just don’t have a lot of time to waste explaining every single example top to bottom when you could simply rewatch and pay attention this time.
Elisabeth Olsen (and Benedict Cumberbatch) did an amazing job, playing multiple versions of their roles. It was a rough first time watch, because I so wanted Wanda to play a different role, but after getting over that I've realized how great this movie actually is.
Same, it would have been a total copout if she stayed a "hero" after wandavison. I also love watching heroes go ahead to head, one of the reasons civil war was so awesome
@@jawwadkhan2208 lol that must be the very reason why Elizabeth really owned that movie and made benedict a side characters and then got the title "mommy of mcu"
I think the scariest part for me was when Wanda was chasing after them while limping with the oil on her face with the red glowing eyes and then the jump scare, I forgot I was watching a MCU movie it felt like a real horror movie instead.
No it not surprise me. But hey, producer has no fantasy. The FILm was middle good. Top actors... No. Sientologie or asmr hypnosis Kult actor in. But this was all. A nice film. But I don't like the idea abaut a bad evil Wanda. But hey...
The film crew used a scan of Elizabeth Olsen’s eyes to create the giant tentacled creature’s eyeball, which foreshadows her role as the film’s primary antagonist.
TRUE FACTS: in the comics one of the creator/writer of the Book of Vishati is Agamotto The Book of Vishati has INFINITE pages and not only it gives them powerful spells but also knowledge about everything in *existence* basically like google but much much better Darkhold teach Chaos magic spells while the Book of Vishati use White and Order Magic
Like any rule, no body, no death. Plus recent interviews of Elizabeth mentioning on where she thinks her character will go next so she’ll definitely come back
My fav scene of Wanda is when she was coming out of the gong exorcist/the ring style also Wanda didn’t just snap his neck lol when you slow it down she actually ripped his head off in the mindscape
After I watched it opening day, I told my buddy who got me into Evil Dead that there's a fight that is perfectly Sam Raimi, creative and goofy but totally badass. And once he saw it, he fucking loved it. It works so well with Raimi's style.
When Mr. Fantastic mentions that he has children, he refers to Franklin and Valeria Richards (his children). Of the 2, the most important is Franklin because he is a Mutant, and he is also one of the most powerful beings in Marvel .
"I love you in every universe"❤️ This movie entails so much about Dr.Strange's character development. Though it felt like 80% Scarlet witch because she's the antagonist, I like how she was presented in this. The realization when she was told that the children she always wanted will still be loved (only, by an alternate self🥹) Gosh, it was so heart-breaking the children didn't want her and when she said she would never hurt them😭 but I was so glad she destroyed the darkhold. Wanda, the scarlet witch, she would always stay in my heart😊 Also, I was waiting for Tom Cruise here!!! Rumors said he'll be cast as Alternate Ironman! Where is it??
When i heard that Wanda was the villain, i had a difficult time accepting that, but remembering what happened in Wandavision helped me understand why she would be a villain
The is the MOST Sam Raimi film Sam Raimi has ever made. He made the Scarlet Witch as scary as Freddy Kruger and the Terminator! I was worried that they were going to restrict what Sam Raimi could do both in terms of horror and his signature style because it is part of the MCU, thank god I was wrong. And I cried at how Wanda had fallen so hard to the dark side like Anakin, yes it was because the Darkhold had corrupted her, but I was still heartbroken that she had taken to many innocent lives to be truly and fully redeemed. At least she did destroy the Darkhold in all other dimensions. And sadly we now know Vision lied to her when he said they would meet each other again in life.😭😭😭😭 Also the woman that Charlize Theron played in the post credits scene is named Clea. In the comics she is Stephen Strange’s true love and as powerful a sorcerer as Dr. Strange. She is also the niece of Dormammu, the ruler of the Dark Dimension from the first movie.
@@andrewft31 maybe for Earth 838 Wanda🤞but definitely not 616 Wanda. Also 10 picture deal doesn’t even mean she could get her own movie. It can also mean she will show up in flashbacks or in movies that take place in the past, like Captain Marvel did. Honestly as much as I loved 616 Wanda there was no true redemption for her. She murdered innocent people not just in our earth but another earth as well. Though she did earn a small amount of redemption by destroying the Darkhold in all other universes.
It's nuts to root for the villain, but yeah... Wanda is EVERYTHING! I love her to bits. IDK how, but they made people love her despite the fact she was just frying everybody. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In a twisted way, the third eye on his brow is what the Eye of Agamotto was supposed to be - by comic lore, anyway. Instead of the Time Stone, the amulet at his throat is supposed to contain the Eye that rises and rests on his brow to allow him to probe things or see the unseen. The amulet itself is a powerful source for good whose Light can banish Darkness. Btw, the guy that was punching himself silly is Bruce Cambell - of Hercules & Xena fame and also the star of the Evil Dead movies. 🙂
Professor X's appearance is inspired by Professor X's appearance from the 90's X-Men animated series. Even the music that plays when Charles appears is a remake of that series' intro
Magy, the actor who played the Pizza Poppa guy is Bruce Campbell. He and the director, Sam Raimi, are good friends and have collaborated on many movies. Campbell played the main character in Raimi's Evil Dead movies, and he had a cameo in each of the three Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies, all directed by Raimi. So it was great fun and very appropriate to have him in this movie! 😁 Wonderful reaction as always! You are so fun, you always look beautiful, and you are really good at noticing and predicting things that happen in these movies. Keep it up! 🥰
While I don’t believe that Wanda is truly dead, her sacrifice she made reminds me a LOT of Doctor Octopus’s self-sacrifice from the end of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2
I remember going to see this on the opening day in theatres last month, it was almost full house at the time, and there was a lot of fan reactions at the mention of the Illuminati as well as the cameos of Reed Richards, the leader of the Fantastic Four and Professor X of the X-Men. There was one guy in my audience who went like, Bring on the Fantastic Four!
y;know it never occurred to me that Krasinski’s Mr Fantastic was a one time deal. The idea floating around is that they'd bring in different actors to play the multiverse versions of say Natasha's Black widow or RDJs Iron Man to keep them going in the MCU. i had just assumed Krasinski was all but confirmed as Mr Fantastic going forward.
Having watched and loved the original Evil Dead trilogy, this movie felt like a love letter to it. You should definitely check it out if you want to see more of Sam Raimi's cinematographic genius, and understand a lot of the gags in this movie.
Magy, you may recognize the vendor punching himself. That’s Bruce Campbell - he was also in the Raimi Spidey trilogy as the guy who introduced Peter as “The Amazing Spider-Man” when he was wrestling, and as the usher who wouldn’t let Peter into MJ’s play when he was late. He’s the lead in Raimi’s Evil Dead films. And the actress at the end credits is Charlize Theron, who you saw in Mad Max: Fury Road.
In the comics, one of the canon arcs had Wanda as the most powerful person in existance, wiping out almost all mutants, both good and bad, by whispering "no more mutants"
Stephen Strange: Wanda your children aren't real you create them using magic Wanda: That's what every mother does 😂😂 the look on Wanda's face after she said that like I'm not wrong.
4:17 reminds me of Sherlock when Molly says "Are you ok? and don't just say that you are because I know what that means: looking sad when you think no one else can see you."
IMAX effect of this movie is crazzzzy 🍿 The end just caught me felt bad for Wanda thoo🥺🥺 and my lord Sam raimi just did justice with every character and every scene of this movie 🍿🍿
I actually feel sorry for the alternate-Wanda, she is going to have to deal with the fallout of what the Scarlet Witch did. The murder of so many of that world's heroes. I doubt that Mordo would explain what happened, he doesn't seem like the type to distinguish between villain and innocent. all those hero's friends will now come for alternate Wanda and her children, so sad.
I hated how the creators kept saying the scarlet witch was not going to be the main villain it was going to be an interdimensional monster promising to give wanda what she wanted but this was the product of their ideas
My lovely Magy, I am uber glad to see you watching this movie. Despite the divisiveness surrounding it, I absolutely adored this film so much. Scarlet Witch is one of my all-time favorite MCU movie villains. She was so damn savage throughout the movie. Also, despite what many think, I liked the arc America Chavez went through in this movie. The actress who plays her (I can't pronounce her first name) was charming. I can't wait to see her back as a Young Avenger. Also, the cameos of the Illuminati was delightful. This movie, directed by Sam Raimi, was everything I ever hoped it would be. Yes, I have some problems with it. But, they don't overall affect my enjoyment of the movie. I can't wait for what the 3rd movie has to offer, especially given the mid-credit tease at the end. I also hope that Sam Raimi returns for more madness. Also, the character Charlize Theron is playing is Clea, the wife of Doctor Strange in the comics. #GoSupportTheMadness
Completely agree with you! I think this movie is severely overhated by many. It’s not a masterpiece or anything like that, but I still think it’s a pretty good MCU movie and one that I really really love. I like it more and more each time I watch it
Shower Thoughts: Wanda's powers feel like a mixture of the Reality stone, Mind stone and Soul stone. We've seen her change reality, and influence/invade minds. For the Soul stone, shes like the personification of "But the stone extracts a terrible price. You must lose that which you love."
Love that you love the movie. Non stop thrilling action, great characters & acting, visually spectacular, so much heart...: I think it may be my favorite MCU film! Having grown up with 90s Marvel cartoons & comic books, I felt like a kid again watching this.... And it leaves you so pumped for the next one! Yet some people have been saying it sucks. I don't get it. Not you, though. You have great taste.
Exactly, even if the writing is perfect at times the cinematography, action, horror, & characters are all top notch. It has so much visual style that the rest of the MCU looks bland in comparison lol
@@rabidrobbie yeah, years of character development clearly leading to her being a villain/anti hero is totally out of character for a hero that literally started as a villain. Bad take my friend
@@py16667 She's also been a villian in oneof the biggest comic storylines in Marvel ever lol. Don't see how it's character assassination, especially since the darkhold is supposed to corrupt it's user as well.
FUN FACT: the guy selling Pizza Balls is Bruce Campbell, you can see him in the first Spiderman Trilogy, the ring announcer, the security in the theatre don't won't let peter in, and the receptionist in the restaurant speaking like a french, the punching scene in this movie is a nod to Sam Raimi's movie Evil Dead, you should also watch those movies.
A few of my friends did not care for this movie. I loved it. It had everything I wanted in an MCU flick. And IT WAS true to the character of the Scarlet Witch in the comics.
"Ok so some of my variants of very interesting lives. Unlike me." You do realize that people spend their time watching you watch stuff. Kinda gotta be interesting to pull that off. ;)
Fun fact the music being used in a fight, when 616 our strange fights supreme strange was Danny elfmans idea, he pitched it jokingly as he did the music and thought it would be great to do and would be unique for him to work with, they ended up using it
I saw the movie with my friends and uncle because I love the movie because seeing Doctor Strange using more sorcery and America Chavez trying to stop and help Wanda aka the Scarlet Witch was awesome while there was sad moments for her in theaters, Great reaction Magy.
What a great movie. Enjoyed your reaction! The guy with the voice is Black Bolt. He is the King of the Inhumans. There was a TV show about them a while back that was...pretty bad, at least by Marvel standards. It was so badly received that the MCU basically ignored it afterwards. They used the same actor, Anson Mount, for Black Bolt in the show and here though!
Man, I loved the Evil Dead, Drag to Hell, Aliens, Spider-Man 2, Army of Darkness, Carrie, Twilight Zone, The Shining, The Ring, Day of The Dead, Oz The Great, and Powerful, and the 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 references in this movie. The Magical Duel was badass. We also saw The Living Tribunal. I also loved the music in this movie.....
Ohh Magy, my favorite. I loved your reactions. It really showed how strong Wanda really is. The scene where Wanda scared her kids and the actual mom Wanda telling her "Know they will be loved" I thought was beautiful. Strange believing in America to get her to handle and control her powers was great. Lastly, Mag, I love you. I love you in every universe. Glad you finally watched it and you're the best cute girl! ❤️😘
33:25 the first time magy ever cussed but left in the video on yt but ofc she censored it... It's cool to see magy being so expressive now compared to some of her earliest videos like😂😁
As a STAR TREK fan, I remember the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Parallels" from 1993 and don't forget the Star Trek Mirror Universe episodes! 🖖
I really, really hope this isn't the end of Wonda. My only real critique of the movie is how fast she gets defeated in the end. It felt too fast for me, I really hope we get to see more of her story in the future!
They never said Professor Xavier was a Mutant, it that he was the leader of the X Men. So, they’re not quite here yet. The other guy with the powerful voice is Black Bolt from the Inhumans tv show.
I know Wanda went a little off track in WandaVision, but I can't say I'm glad to see her go further into "The Dark Side". I hope at some point in the future she gets a redemption arc ( assuming she survived, that is).
The Illuminati were Mr Fantastic/Reed Richards (from the Fantastic 4), Captain Marvel/Maria Rambeau, Captain Carter/Peggy Carter, Black Bolt/Blackagar Boltagon (from Inhumans) played by Anson Mount, Professor X/Charles Xavier (from he X-Men).
Yes! finally someone else that freaked out about the musical duel! We saw a flash of red in the collapsing of the tower, I choose to believe that Wanda got out before it got destroyed.
Pappa pizza was Ash from the evil dead, who in that movie had his hand possessed & turn against him. He even cut it off. Ash vs the evil dead is a great show to review.
"One little bee 🐝 can literally screw everything." Man vs Bee is a nine 15 minute episode mini-series starring Rowan Atkinson aka Mr. Bean. Every episode he tries to catch a bee in the home he's hired to house-sit. Wacky hijinks like old Tom & Jerry cartoons.
I was so happy when this popped up on Disney+ finished it yesterday and enjoyed it as usual. Glad you liked it Magy. The first is Defender Strange, then normal Strange from our Universe, then Evil Doctor Strange, then Zombie Strange aka Defender and from What If series. Seeing two Wandas, and the Illuminati were great. America did a good job.
33:08 i think they took inspiration from 'Avengers: Dissembled' where Wanda destroys the Avengers and basically rewrites reality so that mutants never existed.
Nice reactions to this film, Magy!!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I was a bit disappointed Wanda went to the dark side. I was hoping she would get Vision and her children back somehow. You were freaking out for a good portion of the movie, Magy. That was funny. Bruce Campbell (guy beating himself up) had a cameo in Sam Raimi's three Spiderman films.
I liked when you said they should have put Wanda's name in the title because the fan theory is that she always was in the title. Dr Strange MoM- Multiverse Of Madness
I understand why some people said that they don't like the movie because the style is not "marvel style" but to anyone who said that the writing ruining Wanda's arc from wandavision where she's already redeem herself then they're wrong. Did you forget at the very end of the series she's reading the darkhold still trying to find her son? It's not ruining her redemption arc, it's just wanda didn't learn anything from westview incident. Or maybe the darkhold is so power that it can tempted wanda to once again did something like this.
I saw this in the theaters last month on my birthday (May 6th) and was very impressed by its stunning visuals.🥰🥰 and now watching it again with you Magy it almost feels like a second birthday to me.🙂🙂 Excellent reaction as as always Magy 😊 You look very lovely ❤❤
I think we can all agree that Doctor Strange 2 is straight up a horror film 😄. But what surprised me the most was that Danny Elfman(Edward Scissorhands,Beetlejuice,The Nightmare Before Christmas) was the composer!!!!! Which made it even x10 better.
