Fantastic, I was looking at vitamin c serums and retinols today and deciding which ones to purchase. I was anti vitamin c for a bit because I always got serums with l-ascorbic acid…I got breakouts each time and it made my dark spots worse like you mentioned. When I stopped using it my skin calmed down and started to heal. I believe in the benefits of vitamin c so I will try one of the derivatives

Beginning of 2021 I Started using “the ordinary” hyperpigmentation routine you suggested. Within 6 months, my skin tone was even, dark spots from previous break outs were gone, and my skin looks AMAZING!! I’m 39, and people have trouble guessing my age. @@raheelashakil8802 I’m so sorry I took so long to reply. All are the ordinary products except the clinique toner, micellar water and the moisturiser I sometimes use. Here goes: Day time routine: double cleanse: 1st with micellar water, then 2nd with cleanser/ face wash, then I use a clinique toner, then moisturiser (hydrating factors or clinique dramatically different moisturisers. I’ve been using clinique for 15 years and so I incorporated some of their stuff into my routine because it works well for my skin. I will probably totally shift to using only the ordinary because the ordinary is much cheaper but also really good, maybe even better 🤷🏾‍♀️). I wear hats all the time so I skip the sunscreen as my skin doesn’t like any mineral sunscreen I tried. My face gets maybe 10 minutes of accidental sun a month 🙈. Night time routine: cleanse, toner, then Alpha Arbutin, then niacinamide, then ascorbyl glucoside solution as the magnesium ascorbyl is no longer available on the market, then granactivve retinoid in squaline 3 time a week, then azelaic acid, then wait 10 minutes, then moisturising factors, then rosehip oil. Been doing this for 1,5 years now, fantastic! My skin purged for 1st month, I had some blackheads and pimples that I couldn’t resist squeezing and picking (I know it’s bad) so I had dark spots from that self inflicted trauma, but I continued the routine, and my face completely cleared of all dark spots and blackheads and pimples I think in 3 months or so.

I notice it has the Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate and Ethyl Ascorbic Acid which seems good- do you think 15% is too high? I want to try the product for mainly my skin texture and skin discolouration

I tested my VitC serum on 2 peices of apple. 1 with my vitC on, it one without and the one with the serum stayed white, and remained moist. The one without started browning and drying up within 10mins

Dear Dr V, I love your blog and all your video tutorials. I don't have a colored skin, but a very sensitive, fine skin that bruises and pigments very easily. I also battle with breakouts from time to time. For this reason, I follow your channel as I can relate to people with colored skin. I've watched your microneedling video, do you perform microneedling with the Dermapen or Dr Pen as well? I own a Dr Pen and do at-home treatment, however there's so many opinions and methods people suggest and teach, that I feel lost as to which is the best. Do you have any suggestions/advice on this?

Doctor v I’m looking to take finasteride 1mg daily for my hair loss , I’m a male and also suffer from acne (I lost in the genetic lottery ) but I worry that it might make my acne worse. What’s your understanding of finasteride role in acne. It’s a DHT blocker so I’m theory it should help with acne but it also increases androgen which is bad for acne so I’m so confused. Please help. I just saw another video by a dermatologist who shared that Vitamin C Serums oxidizes. I didn't realize this but it now in hindsight, I do recall some of my C serums turning orange brown. I didn't know it wasn't ok to still use it. Yikes! Any tips on how to store or keep maintain a long shelf life without or minimal oxidation?

Hiya from other videos and my own research I've gathered that buying vitamin c in a closed bottle that is not see through with a pump (not a dropper of a jar) and storing them in a cool dark place are the best ways to prolong the serum! Right now I use Beauty Counter's vitamin c (which has the stable form of vitamin C tetra whatever lol) but it's so expensive I'm looking for a more affordable alternative

Thanks for the tips. Personally, I have sensitive, acne-prone, and oily skin. I apply litelextrra rice berry vitamin c face serum in the evening. It's really good because it doesn't clog my pores. I finished my first bottle of the serum a few weeks back. It brightened my skin tone. The results I'm getting are excellent.

I use the CeraVe vit C serum. I am Indian but my skin isn't that brown, it's a bit lighter not the lightest Indian shade though. Should I use it after cleanser and before sunscreen for daytime or at night after cleanser followed by moisturizer. My goal is to fight hyperpigmentation and brighten my skin. Also, is there a body vitamin c serum. The area is big for body so if I use the one for the face, it'll get over so soon and it costs a lot. So perhaps another option dedicated for body for smoother skin, even skin tone and increased elasticity on skin on body. I hope you read this. Thank you
