I'm glad you did this review. I'm currently using the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and I'm prone to cystic acne. Totally amazed just how this face cleanser loves my skin. From the first use I felt moisturized and cleansed without the feeling that my skin has been stripped of it's natural oils. But what really took me by surprise is the difference in my skin tone. It has restored my natural, even toned complexion. Love from South Africa.
Cetaphil's oily skin cleaner has one of the strongest fragrances!! I hated that cleanser, it stung my skin. I couldn't believe this product came from Cetaphil which is known to be gentle and for sensitive skin.
Let me just start off by saying as a darkskin black woman, I appreciate you and your channel so much. Can you please do a breakdown on Good Molecules...specifically the dark spot correcting serum, the niacinamide toner, and pineapple exfoliating powder? Love you!!
I have NEVER clicked on a video so fast! Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser is my holy grail cleanser and ever since i realized it has SLS i have been DYING to know what Dr V thinks about it!
Same! I have acne prone skin but it hasn't irritated my skin even when I started to use tretinoin regularly. However, the Simple moisturiser and Neutrogena extra gentle stung my skin. I think it's not just the ingredient but the percentage and formulation.
Dr. V! I recently purchased the gentle skin cleanser and I think cetaphil has updated their formula. It now has niacinamide and no sodium Laureth sulfate!! This is a huge win! Thanks Dr. V, as I only trust the brands you recommend!
I've been watching you since 11k subs and it's been lovely seeing this channel grow, I can't wait for your channel to blow up (i know it will). Please don't think we don't notice the subtle changes e.g. your new thumbnails vs the old yellow background thumbnails, showing your personality more etc. We appreciate the effort you put into educating POC globally, don't forget us when you hit 1m subs, lots of love ❤️
video suggestion: you should like series like best moisturizer, cleanser and so on. one video dedicated to each type. where the product are broken down according to skin type and cost like best economical and expensive for dry skin, combination and oily. it would be really helpful
I'm a pediatrician, and I love how scientific and informative your videos are. Could you make a review on neostrata skincare products? Thank you in advance..
I feel like i'm seeing more and more skincare RU-vidrs following your lead and copying your theme of skincare for people with skin of colour. It's quite eye raising, especially when the channel host is not a person of color. You're an expert and a person of colour which is why I listen to you. I wish continued success for you!! Lots of love
@@kd8186 Maybe. But ever since Dr Rattan's channel has been blowing up, you will notice other RU-vidr's suddenly are focusing on hyper-pigmentation for people with skin of color. The new attention might even be a good thing, but probably opportunistic. For me, Dr Rattan is the one who is dedicated to skin for POC.
@@RVC0902 Maybe you're right, but I thought RU-vidrs sudden interest in hyperpigmentation or skin of colour had to do with "Black Lives Matter" movement :):)
I love cetaphil personally. Cerave breaks me out for some reason. I just get a lot of tiny bumps all over. I used to have black dots on my forehead and cetaphil has helped rid of them.
@@shradhatagare Using cetaphil , I only use the Daily Facial Cleanser for normal to oily skin. But of course depending on your skin type, you chose which one works best. I did use toner and moisturizer with the cleanser but it wasn’t making the dark spots go away any faster than it would with the cleanser it’s self. So my routine is just cetaphil daily facial cleanser.
Ok I'll stop asking. I'll just wait right here for it. Haha. I have reactive and sensitive skin and recovered from adult mild acne from cosmetic use. I have used moisturizing face wash, eye makeup remover and hydrating light moisturiser for yearssss. Probably because everything else looks scary or I tried and reacted to it. Thanks in advance 😊
I love Cetaphil and I am so glad you reviewed their products. I found your channel last week and I am soooooo pleased with the amount of information you share. I am a black woman with extreme dark circles, tinea versicolor and dry skin (hopefully you can make a video on those conditions one day)
I've been binge watching your channel since this quarantine and I absolutely love it! Because of you, I've learned so much about skin care for our skin. Keep up the great work!!
Frfr (foreal foreal)@@vanitarattan! Are synthetics better than nature derived ingredients for some formulations to last, should we use BHA am & pm as directed by Paula Ch and I've cut citric acid out of my skincare bt they have it at the end of some of their prods; how safe is that for my skin & which 1s can I use If any?!! Whew lol this is what I hope is answered in ur PC vid or series🥇 Thanks as always Fairy Glam Mother💝
I have started using cetaphil moisturizing lotion recently and I layer it over 3 different products and it doesn't broke me out. I just love this affordable moisturizer. I got frequent breakouts when I was using an expensive moisturizer. Its better to spend on good serum and use a simple non comedogenic moisturizer, so that you don't breakout.
Hi Dr V & Everyone, I’ve had my consultation & now booked in for my treatment with The Hyperpigmentation Clinic - whoop whoop!!! Will let you know how I get on 🙌🏽👏🏽💪🏽🤞🏽
Whoop whoop! I'm keen to know how you get on as I'm planning on getting some treatments too! Best of luck! If you don't mind me asking what sort of treatment are you getting?
F Aggrey I have hyperpigmentation on my face which I’ve wanted to address for years but wasn’t convinced by all the lasers etc. I discovered Dr V a few years ago & have been following her work & decided to take the plunge this year 👍🏽
@@facemeproject7114 awesome! Same here! Seems my face belongs to another body! 🤭🤣 it's like 3 shades darker than my body and this is due to years of using wrong facial products and never wearing sunscreen so when I eventually got on to wearing sunscreen I was wearing physical ones! 👎🏽 Didn't even know the difference! 🤦🏽♀️ Following Dr V has been a great blessing to my face, gradually it's brightening, no more breakouts, my face is super smooth and hydrated! All it needs is the magic touch of Dr. V's expertise! 😄
The Cetaphil oily skin cleanser was an enemy to my face it made it so irritated I had to just end up using Nivea sensitive skin cleanser that helped calm it down. I'm now trying the CeraVe foaming cleanser and been good so far but I've only used a week but the ingredients make me confident about it and had no irritation.
Hello Dr. V, thank you again for sharing your knowledge with us. I literally overhauled my skin care routine after I discovered your videos months ago. Best lesson learned: Fragrance is the #1 cause of contact dermatitis, melonocytes and “cell talk”. Thank you for educating us and empowering us to choose intelligently when it comes to skin care. Looking forward to your Cerave review, I use their moisturizing cream all over...:)
Thank you so much for making such wonderful videos. I have one really important video request: How to get rid of deep pitted acne scars using products? (especially Boxcar scars and rolling scars) It will be really really helpful for all of us. 💛
Love this video! Can you also do one on CeraVe and also on what products you should be using/avoiding to help heal your skin after it has gotten sensitive to denatured alcohol?
@@vanitarattanhii mam this is pooja ...am 20yrs old ...am having black spots on my cheeks as well as on my forehead....my skin tone looks dull and am having dry skin ....I want to clear my black spots on my face ....right now am using ahaglow face wash and emolene moisturiser cream.....for past 2dys only .....can u please suggest me for clearing blackspots and also I want to change my black skin turn into white tone so kindly please reply me mam 🙏
My baby has very sensitive skin and very bad eczema and the body lotion works wonders for her. Since I’ve been using this lotion on her, I haven’t seen any dry skin or eczema in months!
Hi, Dr. Vanita! Thanks for all perfect explanations. My grandma was wondering what would be the best treatment for body skin for people over 60 years, where the skin is flaccid, wrinkled, sensitive, thin and with hyperpigmentation. Thank you for your attention! Have a wonderful day! : )
All my life searching for someone like you...now I thank God that I finally find you🙏 I have really dark knees from kneeling as a child cleaning floors...I am from the beautiful island of Jamaica now living in London any suggestions. Much love you
Thank you Dr!! I’m so grateful for these videos. I’m more informed and have made so many necessary changes to my skincare ❤️ you are our voice in the skincare world! Absolutely love you
Can you review more Korean skin care brands, like iunik and purito? By the way thank you for this channel, you have made me more aware about skincare for my brown skin. Lots of love xx
I heard great things about that calendula cleansing oil but I been weary on actually trying it out... The ingridients on Amazon just says Calendula lol
Hey Dr. V do you think it would be alright for me to use Cervae cleanser, moisturizer, and eye cream together with the ordinary products. PS: I have post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and oil skin
this depends on what ordinary products you are using! I use the cerave foaming cleanser and daily moisturizer along with the glycolic acid toner, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide and have experienced no issues
Oh my, Cetaphil is locally available in my country and I'm planning to get the gentle cleanser. Some dermatologists even recommend it to people on Isotretinoin, which makes the skin even more sensitive and very dry. Seeing that you didn't like it as much makes me worried.
I just bought nuetrogena hydro boost (for normal to combination) I could see among ingredients the last was perfume in it. I just grabbed a taxi changed it with frangrace free. The girl at the store got shocked by my explanation when she tried to send me a chemical Suncreen in the name physical Suncreen. Credits to DR V xoxo
Please review Liz Earle skincare. Their cleanser has won a number of awards for best cleanser over the years. I’ve been using Liz Earle for years and years and wanting to know if I’m doing the right thing using their skincare on my brown skin. Thank you 😊
I have been using the original Cetaphil face wash since I was 22 (nearly 30 years) and it has worked for me and I put my 2 boys onto it and their skin is beautiful. The only "newer" Cetaphil I use is the shower soap and the moisturiser.
hello, could you do a video on how much of an impact dieting has on your skin? i.e. is eating a lot of vitamin a more effective than topical treatments?
When I first used cevare it was great and perfect but after using it for a few months my skin started to become dry again. I'm using cetaphil rn and I love it.
I have combination skin with an oily T zone and I recently started using cetaphil gentle cleanser. I have to say is very gentle and it leaves the skin clean without leaving it dry or tight which happens to me with so many other soaps and cleansers.
I have a fragrance allergy and sensitivity to botanical extracts, and have found Cetaphil Redness Relieving Night Moisturizer to be good for my skin. I appreciate the reviews, even though I’m not your target audience.
So this was safe for u? Even with the allergies u have? I broke out in bad dry skin eczema never in my life did I have it it was so painful the pharmacist recommended it I just bought it but so scared to now use anything
@@griselgarcia3677 I don’t have eczema, but it doesn’t make me break out or sting and burn. Cetaphil also has an eczema lotion. You could try a patch test. Just put a tiny amount on a small area of your skin and see how it reacts.
omg im so glad i discovered your channel! For coloured skin people! Yes pleaseeeee!!!! You explanation is so easy to understand and to follow. Please dont stop making these review videos with similar style. Just subscribed ^^
Dr V in India we dont usually get fragrance free products. So in yiur previous video you said that we can probably use 1% concentration fragrance products.. could yo review those? I'm sorey to put you in such a gray area
Okay, a very light skinned European here and my skin def does not tolerate agressive treatments :) atopic exzema since childhood and this year it has been more bothersome. Cetaphil is one of the brands I have tried but they dont really have that many conditioning ingredients.. cerave at least has proper ceramides.
I think you read my mind. I live in South Africa and unfortunately, we do not get brands like The Ordinary, Cetraben, or CeraVe. But we do get Bioderma, Uriage, Eucerin and a limited range of Cetaphil.
TO ALL THE INDIANS WHO ARE READING I was to about to blame dr V i.e i bought the moisturizing lotion from nykaa as she recommended buttttt it gave me a lot of break outs don't know y so i rewatched this vedio to knw abt the iritants in the lotion i was shocked to know that the FORMULA IS TOTTALY DIFFERENT IN INDIA COMPARED TO THE FORMULA SHE IS TELLING i don't know y these companies does this if someone is reading this please tell me wr to find the original product please reply
Excellent. thank you for sharing this review Dr. V. I have been using Cetaphil for my sensitive skin for many years and have been happy with it. Great to have a doctor validate that choice :) it’s like my cetraben 😃 the only constant while everything else I keeep experimenting with :)
Like the reviews on drugstore brands. I've been following your recommendations on actives only at night Im just in the 2nd week hoping to help my hyperpigmentation once I get a new routine
Dr. Rattan, first of all thank you for taking time from your family and your daily activities to teach us how to better take care of our skin. I am a 41 yrs. old Peruvian living in Vancouver, BC in Canada. I have melasma since I turned 34 and it has spread to more parts of my face as time passed. Could you please tell me the best actives for anti aging purposes and that they don’t worsen my melasma, I have enter this “mature” stage where is hard to find products that work for multiple issues. Thank you again! ❤️😍
Yes, I too am in my mid40s and looking for routines and products that can tackle multiple issues. Mainly hyperpigmentation and anti aging ( I call it pro-aging). Any advice would be helpful.
Hey, please post an acne skincare routine with product recommendations, and how we can include both salicylic acid and benzoylperoxide in our routine along with nicinamide and vitamin c
Hi sorry to hear about your son, please which one did he use, I just bought the body lotion is that the one messed his skin. Please share thanks in advance
@@Trust-the-vibe333 it wasn't the body lotion, it was the facewash. There's a website I use where you can search if the product you're using has irritants in it. Its incidecoder.com
Hey dr. V, thanx for the ever waited video on cetaphil... would like you to make a video on cetaphil vs cerave which is better... jus for better understanding... luv❤️
Nobody says about ahas for brown skin. People in youtube say they r so good so I went ahead and bought one face wash with glycolic acid. Initially it was alright but then I introduced a toner with glycolic acid as well. And then they gave me. A burn and the hyperpigmentation was horrible. Thanku for telling us about glycolic acid. Now my skin is doing much better.
Probably a big fat no no. You’re basically causing teeny tiny tears on the skin. She always stresses how much one scratch, bite, etc can cause hyperpigmentation.
I definitely say don’t go out and buy this product! Try it if you must but it’s definitely not for me. Used it for a week and my skin is on fire! All down to my neck. Dry patches all over my face, irritated, and stinging. I just watched a video of an esthetician vs doctor (dermatologist) and she said doctors would recommend this because of some of the ingredients in it. Looks like she was right. I want to learn more about brown tones since I’m Hispanic so I will follow but I am following you doubtfully because your skin looks amazing but idk if I can trust what you preach. Anyhow, I’ll give you a chance since I’m learning.
Hi, Dr V, I have prescription glasses and I get a few breakouts because of wearing glasses all the time. Could you please suggest some type of a solution for this?
Hey Dr V, I have been following you for a while now and I would like to thank you for creating so much content. Also, could you please make a video about what kind of a routine with the your recommended product should I follow if I have acne prone skin.
Hey all. I just purchased the Cetaphil Moisturing cream and it's consistency is very thick and it feels very heavy on the skin. If anyone if you has used it before, I'll be glad to know a review. Should I continue using it ?
Interesting...I'm guessing the ingredients are different in the UK? For example, in Canada, the oily skin cleanser doesn't have 7 fragrances. Aqua (Purified Water/Eau Purifiée), Peg-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate (And) Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Acrylates/Steareth-20 Methacrylate Copolmer, Glycerin, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum (Masking Fragrance/Fragrance Masquante), Panthenol, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Disodium Edta, Methylparaben So yes, it does have fragrance for 'masking' purposes, but none of the other stuff. Would you say with these ingredients it's ok to use?
Great review, I know ur videos are centred around skincare for skin of colour, could you do one for best foudations for SOC as on the best part they do have parfum - does the same apply when it comes to foundations?
I wanted to buy one of the products you recommended in one of your anti-aging videos but when I went to your website I couldn't find any information about the ingredients contained in your creams. I also wanted to ask: how can I combine the anti-aging routine with the acne routine and the hyperpigmentation routine? If someone has all three problems what would you recommend?
