I'm late to see this video but PLEASE do a SERIES on foundation (and blush and brownser... Since they are put on the cheeks). I have worn the following foundations: High Definition at Sephora, IL Makiage (love), and Mented (black owned)
1:40 MAC studio fix fluid spf15 2:19 MAC studio fix powder 3:10 MAC face and body foundation 3:48 Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation 5:45 Estes Lauder Double Wear foundation 6:00 Fenty Beauty Pro- Filt’r soft matte foundation 6:39 Maybelline Fit Me Foundation 6:49 Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless Foundation 7:17 NYX Born to Glow foundation
Can you please do a series on makeup: concealers, blush, highlighters, bronzer, setting powder, setting spray, the WHOLE THING. Every makeup we apply on our skin.
You have helped me to improve my skin n daily skincare routine. I wanted your opinion on NARS foundation or any foundation which help malesma. Thank you
Yes to a part 2. Some foundations I would be interested in knowing about are : Tom Ford, NARS, Pat McGrath, Lancôme, Bobbi Brown, Iman, Mented, and Clinique.
Dr.V! I agree, let's create an entire foundation series! You can honestly break things down by the series- Sunscreens, foundations, cleansers, etc. But to start, clinique, IL Makiage, Uoma Beauty, Black Radiance, Mented Cosmetics, Juvias Place, e.l.f. There are tons! Let's make a series!!!!
Another range I'm curious about is deodorants / antiperspirants. Not an area that's getting much light of day but it's my most pigmented area and people think it's armpit hair but it's just the skin is so dark there. I'm worried about these products toxicity too.. possible ties to breast cancer risk?
She's always talking about fragrance being harmful and this is just fragrance and only fragrance in a whole bottle. I've heard deodorants discolouring your skin. I've stopped using them altogether and believe me after stopping I could get my body odor for like 7 days and then it was gone. You don't need deo if you're bathing twice daily if you perspire. Also you can rub some lemon in your armpits and there won't be any odor.
Foundations Series Part 2 please: It cosmetics, maybelline, L’Oréal, hourglass, Nars, Bobbi Brown! Give us some good ones too that we can actually use and benefit from! Want to protect our beautiful SOC!!! ♥️
I am using arbutin, nicinamide, Azelic acid, and ascorbyl glucoside for melasma as per your advice. Please make a video to show how to apply, how much to apply actually those products on face. Appreciated!!!! Highly thankful for your effort.
Please review Spot concealers as these we use to cover Pimples 😩😩😩😩 And wet n wild photo focus foundation, Rimmel Stay matte, LA girl HD Pro foundations as well.
Yes, need to know what foundations ARE safe for soc. Please review Becca, I believe they are a cruelty-free & vegan, so would like to know if it's foundations are good. Thsnk you.
Nars natural radiant foundation, Fenty hydrating foundation, born this way foundation, Dior face and body foundation, bare minerals both the powder and main liquid foundation, it cosmetics cc cream!
Hey! Why don’t you do a drugstore series and then a high end one. And also keeping all the boxes ticked like hydrating, matte, acne prone and stuff. Would be great. I’m thinking about changing foundations once lockdown is over. I’m not using any makeup these days and by the time the lockdown is over my foundation would reach its expiration date. Thanks ❤️
"Too Faced - Born this way" is the foundation I'd like you to review. Thank you Dr V for sharing this 'much needed' review of foundations for skin of colour.
Sujatha, Concealers are so bad for your skin. When we take a client off of foundation and concealer for example the under eyes brighten. Try to use a something natural if you can. Commenting with kindness. I know you didn’t ask me 😉🍑Lisa
@@poohthetabby664 I really don’t like either. Both are pretty much the same. However there are NATURAL foundations but even than I prefer my clients get their skin looking great so they don’t have to wear them or wear very little or powder. Does this answer your question? 🙌🏻🍑Lisa
Please do a video for Dry Skin too Dr. V! Also one specifically with the foundations you recommend for skin of Colour! You are doing an amazing job and we are eternally grateful! ❤️
Yes please, a foundation series sounds amazing!!! Nars sheer glow is the I am interested in. Superb idea. PS: could you do a video on your own product please too? Home kits please?
Foundations list for part 2 of oily/acne prone and sensitive skin: IL MAKIAGE, NARS SHEER GLOW and possibly a whole separate video on the more trendy makeup/facial primers. I never thought about the ingredients in our makeup products either. Was more concerned with actual skincare ingredients so thank you for this video.
Yessss I needed this video! I've been avoiding foundations since I discovered your channel a couple months back and my skin has improved just with using Paula's Choice clear cleanser, Naturium Niacinamide + Zinc and only CeraVe Cream. But for the makeup looks I've been tempted to use foundation but needed some guidance.
Ohhh noo! Fenty Beauty was my go-to foundation for years. 😧 I'd like to hear more of the recommended foundations. I can imagine the majority foundations will be in the avoid list.
@@vanitarattan Paula of Paula’s Choice has been writing about cosmetic ingredients including those in foundations before social media was even a thing. She used to publish big books full of these reviews. Now it’s all on the internet. I love your channel and your energy, but please don’t say you’re the only one doing something without thorough research. Paula has a database of thousands upon thousands of products that’s all been carefully reviewed with evidence-based standards and very similar philosophy as you. That’s why you love her products. Check out Beautypedia.com :)
@@vanitarattan you’re absolutely right! AND as scientists, we stand on the shoulders of giants. It’s important to recognize others who contribute to this work and not speak in hyperboles. For example, I’m surprised that you don’t mention @dralexisstephens more often as another trustworthy resource for skins of color. Your colab video with her was really fun to watch. Would actually love to see you two discuss things you don’t agree on (eg, actives in the morning! How many actives to use). Thanks again for all your amazing work.
Hello Dr. V, I was wondering if you can do a video on men's skincare routine. And/or review some men's moisturizers and brands like- Dove men+care hydrate, Harry's face lotion and Every Man Jack. Keep up the great work! Thank you so much from California :)
I highly recommend Korean Makeup, especially skin make-up because the ideology is to combine skincare and makeup which is why most of the concerns discussed here are less likely to be present in them. I recommend Missha, Tony moly, Hera, The Saem and Mizon Foundations and BB creams. Not only are Irritants and comedogenic ingredients less likely, they contain some amazing ingredients beneficial to skin since you would wear make-up frequently or at least whenever you do, you would for at least a few hours.
thank you for the great content! would love to see more foundation/ tinted moisturisers for acne skin (especially the ones from NARS) and I would love to see more body care (acne/ pigmentation related) and hair care videos too!
Idk how people wear foundation everyday with oily skin. I feel so heavy even with only sunscreen. In tropical climates, its impossible with the sweating n all 🥵🥵🥵
Part 2 would be great! I use Charlotte Tilbury (not the Hollywood one), Juvia’s Place I am Magic Foundation (liquid) and then the Juvia’s place stick foundation. Concealers: LA Girl pro concealer and Elf’s 16 HR camo concealer
Would definitely like to know if NARS Radiant and Sheer Glow are under the best or worst column, as well as Too Faced Born This Way, NYX’s other foundations. It’s amazing that companies bank on us not reading and researching before purchasing $40 products that aren’t good for our skin🙄🤦🏾♀️. Thank you for educating us all! Keep them coming!
Hi Dr. V what are some primers that you would recommend for blurring/smoothing/mattifying for all skin types? Also what is your preferred method(brush/sponge/fingers) of applying your foundation?
Tiecher, I hope you don’t mind my answering? I’m a holistic master esthetician of over thirty years. Let your skin heal before using any sunscreen. If you must , use only zinc oxide but if you can, just wear a wide brimmed hat outside. Healing your acne requires you to allow your skin to breath and purge out impurity’s and sebum ( dirt , oil and dead dry skin) when you use sunscreen many times it can make things a worse. Be very mindful if you do. Here if you need any help. With respect for Dr V. Just extra skin knowledge 🙌🏻🍑Lisa
Please please please can you do one one on concealers, especially on the ones we should be using. Any more foundations we should be using. Powders that are the best to use. I think a series on makeup overall would be very beneficial. You’re amazing ! Honestly thank God you’re on RU-vid.
Thank you for your videos! I am learning so much! I would love to see a video on cleansing balms, other foundations (NARS and Bobbie Brown), blushes, concealers, and lipsticks!
❤️Yes Dr. V 🙌🏽PLEASE continue this series on make up friendly to skin of color. There are a few brands that specifically market themselves to cater to skin of color: NARS, Tarte, Clinic, Uma, Juvias place. All of these brands could have a video dedicated to themselves, they have individual lines that cater for oily sensitive and combination skin.
Hi Dr. V! This video was very helpful so thank you for posting it. I agree that we need a foundation series and just ask that you include primers for each brand in the same video if possible. So for example, I know you've already done fenty pro filt'r here but for the fenty video if you could do the fenty hydrating foundation, powder and primers, that would be great! And then separately, if we could just go over the best/worst primers overall that would also be much appreciated. I'm excited to try your sunscreen btw!
Sadly as a Professional celebrity make up artist whos tried almost every foundation on the market ( who has oily and sensitive acne prone skin) ( which is now clear), *I disagree with the Mac Studio Fix Powder & liquid foundations, and the Giorgio Armani Foundations. I used to work for Mac Cosmetics for over 5 years and studio fix was one of our best selling foundations and one of my favorites to wear at times despite how much worse it made my skin and how it made me break out and have all sorts of bumps under my chin. The finish is so beautiful and unique but I will say many Dermatologists in the Los Angeles area along with actresses, models, and clients have all complained that they broke out really Badly from Mac studio fix powder and liquid. I’ve always had oily skin and thought I was acne prone but my skin was just really sensitive to foundations. I started using studio fix powder at the age of 15 in high school and had the worse skin due to it at the time. Once I stopped the breakouts stopped. When I worked for Mac all I would hear were people complaining about breaking out from studio fix so despite what the ingredients say there is something in there that is causing worse skin on an overall scale. I used to joke and say there are a few blessed ones that can wear studio fix or even sleep in it and never break out, but sadly that’s not the case for the majority. I still use other Mac products and they work fine. My top foundation recommendations for oily acne prone skin are Tom Ford Stick Foundation, L’Oréal True Match Foundation is amazing for sensitive skin And made my skin healthier and more clear, La Mer Liquid, Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid, Giorgio Armani never made me break out and looks beautiful and natural on the skin as I would get compliments all the time, Born this way liquid, Nars Creamy Concealer (Ginger for under eyes) used as a foundation or concealer), Tarte Shape tape concealer, Laura Mercier Transluscent Setting Powder, and Rcma foundation.
Make up forever is okay.. Charlotte Tilbury is beautiful on the skin especially their magic and the new matte one but both made me break out pretty bad, Dior skincare is one of the best especially the rose collection but the foundation made me break out badly as it contains fragrances and other crap. This is coming from a professional make up artist of 10 years with sensitive acne prone oily skin. My skin in clear now btw. Try L’Oréal Tru Match got drugstore or La Mer Foundation, Tom Ford Stick for high end!
Yes please for Part 2. If you could do one for dry skin and cover "MAKE UP FOR EVER ULTRA HD FOUNDATION". Thank you for doing so much for skin of color.
Also, what do you recommend we do with the foundations we have and you don't recommend for our skin types? I feel so heartbroken to be throwing so many of these away 😭
Thank you SO much for uploading such useful content! 💕 I rarely wear foundation, but I wear concealer often. Can you PLEASE do a video on the best drug store and high end concealers for acne prone skin? I have been on the search for one, for over 10 years and have yet to be happy with my choice. 🙏🏼
Dr V In part 2 can you include Burberry fresh glow foundation here are the ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Isohexadecane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide, Polysorbate 80, Panthenol, Carbomer, Sorbitan Oleate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Tocopherol. [+/- (May Contain): Ci 77019 (Mica), Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Ci 77491 (Iron Oxides)]. Thank you :)
Yes please would love another video for foundations including pat mcgrath, nars radient longwear and the new soft matte, dior face and body and cc creams including it cosmetics. Thanks Dr v😊
Dr V. I was watching a video where it was mentioned that saturated fatty acid (ceramides, cholesterol) moisturizers increase tyrosinase function which worsens hyperpigmentation. Should I stop using the CeraVe moisturizing cream and squalane oil if I’m trying to get rid of hyperpigmentation? If so what moisturizers and occlusives would you recommend? Btw thank you so much for being a beacon of hope for POC in skincare. I’m learning so much from you through your videos. I truly appreciate you 😊
Amazing video, Can you please include the following foundations: bare mineral barepro foundation L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24HR Freshwear Foundation Revlon Foundation Lancôme Teint
Please please please do a video on other foundations. Such as charlotte tilbury, nars longwear, makeup forever etc. Also if you could discuss primers that would be great. Its a struggle to find foundations that don’t break u out and cause an oily mess on the face! Thanks
Dr. V I would like to thank you for all of this advice I have ordered your products and I am anxiously waiting for them to arrive. 😊I have been having a really hard time finding the right makeup that does not irritate my broken acne prone skin. I looked at the ingredients on my foundation -NARS light reflecting and it has polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate-- but I know you mentioned that polyglyceryl 3 Diisostearate was 4-5 on the comedogenic scale. Is 2 the same thing as 3? I have been having breakouts and itching after washing my face at night and it’s only after wearing this foundation. Please advise
YESSS to more foundation videos! 1. Do skincare foundations work? 2. Do ingredients matter when it comes to foundation? 3. Can dry skin wear foundations for oily skin? In fact, if I have dry sensitive skin while being acne-prone, will foundations for oily skin (say, powder) be better for me? Brands I’m particularly interested about: MAC, Bobbi Brown, Tom Ford, Nars, Clinique, ipsa, Shiseido and Addiction Tokyo (in that order). Again, great video and love how HILARIOUS you get when it comes to make-up!
I would love to see a video on the best foundations for skin of color. My skin is so sensitive to foundation and I get a ton of breakouts which then causes dark spots that linger. Thank you so much for your videos! They’ve been so helpful for my skincare.
Hi! Thanks your channel helped me to have a better skin, it is very helpful in this jungle of products available! please it will be very nice if you can do a part 2 on the best fondation for acne prone skin. Thanks a lot
