And as for what you were talking about, which what struck an emotional chord with the show, or what sparked interest, one moment springs to mind for me. Back in 2014 when series 8 'Listen' was on, it was the first time an episode had made me feel like I was properly absorbed into the world of the show. I was a big fan long before then, of course, and I wouldn't stop thinking about it anyways, but that episode made me think as if I were one of the characters, rather than an outsider looking in, as I usually feel. I seem to be one of the very few people who loved series 8, but that was one of those magical spooky moments that really made an impression on me. That moment with the bed spread, in the shape of a small human was truly freaky!
I find these days that I'm hopeful about new episodes rather than excited. There's something about the TV and film industry in recent years that where almost everything feels so contrived and compromised, and never really delivers on the entertainment.
the chimp returns. Recently I’ve been rewatching s1 with my parents (who are not fans but enjoy the show) and it’s great to remind them how good the start of the new series was, and I just hope Davies can do it again
I'd love to see similar comic anthology books for the other doctors. The Dalek and Cybermen collections I read over the weekend. Great variety of different comic stories in those.
Glad you feel hyped like me, Chimp! I realise I haven't commented recently as much as I used to here, so I should say, I am still enjoying every second of your videos. I click the instant I see a new one. So entertaining and relatable to hear you reflect so much of my curiosity in these videos. You manage to encapsulate so much of the wonder of this show, so perfectly. I cannot thank you enough
I was introduced to Primus through Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey and I've loved them ever since, but that's by the by. I've always loved Doctor Who but it was Blink that cemented that love, not because it was my favourite episode but because it was my wife's favourite. Before that Doctor Who was just for me.
Thanks Chimp. Great as always. I haven’t commented on one of your vids in ages but still think they are all amazing. Could listen to you waffle on about anything Who for ages. Your passion really comes through. This is first time I’ve been so excited about Who again in years. Glad you made the point about when the show came back in 2005 as this is exactly how I’ve always felt….Will we be getting a modern take on Unit doing stuff?
I'm a Who nerd too sir. I own over 200 action figures. Best show on the planet. The hype is real! I think the next year will be great to be a Doctor Who fan.
Part of Doctor who that emotionally effected me ..Jubilee. any jubilee fans around? Now when i heard it i had already seen Dalek. Which is an amazing episode. But...the end of Jubilee makes me bawl without fail. Because the Dalek despite being a killer...is somehow like a lonely naive child who forms a genuine bond with Evelyn Smythe and comes to a haunting conclusion about its own race. And even the Doctor tells his mortal enemy, a Dalek....that he's sorry he misjudged it. And I'm crying again...😊
Very excited for the 60th think its a cool way to celebrate, not with a multi doctor arc (apparently) but with a slice of an old era looking forward to it and think there will be mystery. Why has the Doctor donned this face again?!
I can't feel any hype for new doctor who sadly I feel it's to little to late to push for a huge scale audience , Moff pushed for it and seemed to do well like I remember Tumblr being all over the Smith era and Capaldi then I feel there was a huge gear change to the point where the show feels the most insular ever ... I adore the classic era, and I adore 2005-2022 and accept that was my time I'll always have that show I loved. Ten years ago I was the most hyped ever dressed up and went to the cinema with a huge group of friends, flash forward I became the only one watching it now I'm st the point in life where life's to short watchvwhst you enjoy. Fir me RTDisney is not the way forward I wish you all well if you want to enjoy it but for me I'm gutted in in its diamond year I can't back it 💙💙
Does anyone else feel like the David Tennet specials are kinda fuckin over the new dude, like I heard about him and how he’s from South Africa or summin, then nothing, completely overshadowed by David’s return. I don’t know anyone who really cares.
