Excellently done - thank you! Colin Baker plays this with great poignancy - if only he had been allowed to play the Doctor as he wanted to play him on television, I am sure he would have been looked on as one of the greats, and topped all the DWM polls too!
Steven Moffat: I'm goingto bring Paul McGann back onscreen after 17 years of waiting and finally show his regeneration! Big Finish: We're going to do Colin Baker's proper regeneration after 28 years of waiting! Now all we need is a Season 6B audio story, showing the full, 50 year overdue Patrick Troughton regeneration.....
Eh, I'm not sure if the TV Comic series counts as part of the timeline. Not to get into a canon debate, but the comics had the first and second Doctor travelling around with Grandchildren other than Susan which are never mentioned again, and the Second Doctor shooting alien Spiders in cold blood while shouting "Die hideous creature, die!" Kind of conflicts with the character we see onscreen.
tl;dr version: Season 6B didn't happen, Big Finish fixed that thank christ. Big Finish did a companion chronicle story that set up the Second Doctor adventures for an indeterminate time both with and without Jamie, and without a female companion in between 2 stories that retconned Season 6B and put all future appearances by the Second Doctor (Five Doctors, Two Doctors, etc.) in that indeterminate time period, which I'm glad cus frankly Season 6B is one of the dumbest ideas ever, even if we don't see the Third Doctor at the end of the War Games it breaks all build up in that story to know that the Second Doctor is fine after all.
So it's sort of an audio prequel to The Time and The Rani. I like it really tied the loose end on what caused the Sixth Doctor to regenerate into the Seventh Doctor.
I love that 'and introducing Sylvester McCoy as Doctor Who' almost tongue in cheek. though I hate that they used Doctor Who instead of just the Doctor.
well for the first 20 years the DID use doctor who instead of the doctor! "the doctor" was a later addition, but if you watched any of the first 4 doctors you'd know that
I rather liked the idea of the Sixth Doctor's last words being "Who's there?" - rather wish they'd left it there since the rest of it felt a bit indulgent but still, nicely done.
+MeBeMat Yes, the rest of the lines are from the Sixth Doctor in the Matrix, feeling his timeline being rewritten and being reunited with the Seventh Doctor. The actual, in the flesh, Sixth Doctor's final words are, "who's there?".
+SoLinkSmash The line is, "Who said that?" and was in the Doctor's head. You'll notice the last breath rattling from the Doctor's throat before he hears the voice of his next incarnation.
They should animate this scene and add it on to the beginning of time of the rani ,kind of what they did with power of the daleks there showed the regeneration then it went to the intro, I know I would love it
+Matt, King of the North POSSIBLE SPOILERS. Actually, that's the Seventh Doctor from an alternate future speaking to the Sixth Doctor from inside the Matrix as he feels the timeline is changing.
(Well thank you! That would be very nice but I'm afraid I already made the video hahaha. You can check it out on my channel if you so desire - if you think I should redo it with your new version I'd be totally up for that!)
I must say... the 7th doctor is in the 6th doctor's mind, the last words of the 6th doctor is: "Who said that? Who is that? Who is there?", the 6th and 7th doctor minds are going to tell about regeneration and the 6th doctor REGENERARES INTO 7TH DOCTOR! Is that where the episode of Doctor Who: The Brink of Death is missing?
I had an epiphany: What if the BBC did a miniseries on the classic Doctors vs modern enemies, such as the Silence, Weeping Angels, a Cyberman story for the Third Doctor, etc. I mean, we've already got a set of lookalike actors for the First Doctor's run from An Adventure in Space and Time.
first through fifith ( except for 3rd) have ALL had cybermen stories! So did seventh! A story for 3rd or 6th could be interesting, and SEAN Pertwee, Jon's son, is the living image of his father for third! 4th through 8th still live, but have aged out of their roles (though 7th and 8th could probably still pull it off - what have those two been drinking!) You could try an animated series for them and have them voice it! - they are all still doing the audio books
Very nicely done! The only correction that's needed is that it should read "Introducing Sylvester McCoy as 'The Doctor'", as starting with the Davison era, the credits list the character as being The Doctor, not "Doctor Who" Otherwise, spot on, mate!
I like the idea of having the two Doctors sort of meet before one becomes the other and the footprint line was great, but besides that, it was a really "meh" regeneration... especially since they've had 30 years to remake it!
Maybe someday, they will improve and/or lengthen episodes like The Tenth Planet, Shada, The Five Doctors, Time And The Rani, The Doctor Who Movie, and The Night Of The Doctor. Some animations might be able to allow gaps to be filled in. Side shows might help in that regard too.
the tenth planet does not need "improving" blue peter needs to return the 4th episode, so they can take the animated episode out! Shada needs to finish filming to take out the animated part. There is a 4 part five doctors somewhere. And the night of the doctor DOES need to be a complete story, or they redo day of the doctor as a five part story and have night as a prequel, extend the war room scene to include more of the classic doctors then have John hurt regenerate. Have the final episode with Matt meeting the great one and the finally of them all standing together
You can buy them as CDs or as Downloads from Big Finish.com or if you don't have enough money could download them online, and buy them when you have enough. I have a google drive link if you want? Make sure to buy them as well, they may be expensive but the money goes towards them making more adventures.
The one reason I don't consider this to be canon is that it doesn't quite match up with dialogue in Time And The Rani (Mel, in particular, seems to forget which planet they're on).
