Anyone else realize how all goodbyes were pretty much the Doctor leaving or him and his Companions parting ways until the Fifth Doctor and then suddenly people started dying and leaving him, like... Shit
Not shown here due to the episodes being missing but the First Doctor lost two travelling companions in the 12 part epic ‘The Daleks Masterplan’. Katarina sacrificed herself for The Doctor and Steven when she had been taken captive in an airlock by a prisoner who demanded the ship turn around and go back to the planet Kembel where the Daleks were. Later on in the story, Sara Kingdom succumb to the effects of the Time Destructor, rapidly aging her to the point where her bones turned to dust.
I'm still waiting for the Doctor to say "Eh. The Time Lords are locked away in their other dimension. Who cares about rules? I'm going back and getting Adric." We really don't know what happened on that ship the last few seconds before the explosion. I still hope that one day we'll see the Doctor save the kid.
@@BeeTeeGee And Katarina's demise still exists in a clip. Also existing is the clip of the Doctor sharing his concerns about Vicki's fate to an unseen Katarina in episode 4 of Myth Makers.
Well she is a timelady. So they could bring her back with a new actress right? That would be amazing. And in my opinion Susan is to the whovians what Adam is to the SPN Family 😂
The tenth was close to the time was and didn't want to hurt anyone else. Rose stuck in a parallel universe, for better or for worse. Donna having to have her mind wiped. Martha Jones came out better for the time spent with the Doctor.
@@gorillaauAnd yet, he feels a lot of remorse knowing that somehow, Martha changed her vocation for one more "militar" with UNIT. Just like Davros said.
1:50 that's so beautiful. The fact that they did meet again and had more adventures together is amazing. It makes it even sadder that the actress has passed away now. The music at that point was spot on as well. NICELY DONE.
@madomJ...My friend got me into Dr. Who in 7th grade. It was in reruns, but Tom Baker was the 1st Doctor I saw. So he & Sarah Jane are so special to me. So glad Elisabeth Sladen got 1 last run as Sarah Jane just before she past away. And when Tom Baker showed up in "The Day Of The Doctor", I LOST IT! Tears were streaming down my face. I had to go back & watch the scene again because I was so hysterical I missed what they said.
@@yungling5222 yea they never finished the last season of Sarah Jane adventures. I mean there was even gonna be more. Just imagine we have probably got another special with Peter capaldi
Tom Baker and Elizabeth Sladen were my first Doctor Who experience. I loved them both so much. Sarah Jane Smith, you'll always be THE companion for me.
Some are happy farewells, some are sad farewells, some are deaths, like Adric and Peri, and one at least is the Doctor getting rid of unwanted baggage like Adam.
Peri DIED. I don't like that tacked on cheesy ending, it robs her death scene of its gravitas. And I don't think anyone would want to go to bed with Brian Blessed.
I don't care what you say, Martha Jones is a bloody queen!! Her exit was bittersweet but at least she had the worth to know she could still be successful without the Doctor
I think the saddest is Jamie and Zoey. The way that they forget the Doctor except his first adventure. When Zoey says in the trial sequence after words that she forgot something, but she doesn't think it's important. Heartbreaking.
Louis Lazuli yeah Jamie and Zoe having their memories whipped so they didn’t remember their adventures with the Doctor is sad. Jamie has been in more Doctor Who episode than any other companion and he won’t remember any of it. Still sad when they rehashed it for Donna but not quite as sad.
I know it was part of the SJA but i would have loved if they showed the 11th doctor saying goodbye to sarah aswell after the episode of his death. Also it would have been nice seeing all the goodbyes from the episode journey's end.
There were some standouts, like the score for City of Death, Logopolis / Castrovalva, Trial of a Time Lord: The Mysterious Planet, and Survival, but yes, the music from the New Series is better overall.
Sarah Jane and Jo Grant would see the Doctor again, in his Eleventh incarnation...he revealed to them that before his last regeneration, he looked in on every one one of his former companions. This occurred in the Sarah Jane Adventures episode "The Death of the Doctor"
@@catgoddness makes it worse when you find out that they were about to start filming her actual final episodes. Which would have stared tom baker as a cameo and then an actual one final good bye with the 12th doctor
@@hungrydragonvsfrightendhob7799 He did 'see' them again in "The Five Doctors', but they were only projections, so - I suppose - that doesn't count.....!
They left it to the new showrunner - he may still reuse Nardole at least for one episode. But well they may also leave him die like they did with Missy (but she is Master so she will find a way).
Far as I know he was still on that colony ship banging that ol girl and takin Care of the kids. I think that's a good ending for Nardole. Kinda retired in place.
Chills got me when it was Donna... The best companion in my opinion ! Always funny, a fantastic duo with David Tennant, so sad she stayed only for a single season... He's right : They had the best of times. Donna Noble, the DoctorDonna, we will not forget you.
Wouldn't you rather die than to have all those fabulous experiences and then be told the memories will all go away but you won't. You just won't remember the best and most wonderful bits of your life.
Big Finish has a lot of her timeline accounted for. However it's still not comprehensively presented if she is dead or just missing...despite what the Doctor has said onscreen as Clara has said "missing"
Well it was River already saved in the library so she was chronologically the last one. But still I would like to see all three of her goodbyes (we have three Sarah's) - the death episode, Trenzalore episode and the singing Towers episode.
The saddest part of all the companion goodbyes is the music. It has a ticking sound, to show that their time together is slowly slipping away. The haunting melody represents how lost the Doctor is after losing his best friends. And the intensifying beat is a beautiful representation of how powerful an effect the companions have on the Doctor.
I WISH Clara had stayed dead after Face The Raven ... That was SUCH a powerful 10 minutes at the end of that episode ... The threats the Doctor made, and his anger. Just brilliant, and would have been a legendary character farewell ...
Yeah, gotta agree there. Especially given that she died trying to do exactly the sort of thing the Doctor would do. But her actual last episode was pretty fun.
When I watched face the raven I didn't much care that Clara was leaving, but watching her die made me way more sad than I had felt watching the show in a long time and I was ready to rewatch her episodes with a new appreciation for her. But when she came back that was ruined for me.
the goodbyes get harder to watch everytime and some are so strong you cry and get pissed . but all the actors are top notch. and they are all brilliant.
I got so invested in Doctor Who by that point that I sobbed off and on for a week when she got pulled into that alternate dimension. Not even lying. It affected me that much. I think that says a lot about Billie Piper's acting, really.
Susan, Zoe, Jamie, Jo Grant, Nyssa, Donna, Amy and Rory, had the saddest/best exits in my opinion. Peri would have as well if they had stuck with the original plan.
Most touching goodbyes to me: Donna Noble - she can never remember :'( Peri Brown - the sheer horror of being taken over by an alien brain Jo Grant - the sad look, despite she has found her husband, and she loves him, but she loves the Doctor more Sarah Jane Smith - like two children saying goodbye at sunset, hoping they will meet again the next day Susan Foreman - the music and the speech of William Hartnell
I know everybody working on the show was irritated with K-9, but...they never explained why the Doctor didn't rebuild a close and useful friend like he did before?
Adric's death was a complete surprise the series kept changing his character in his intro he was suppose to be like young Doctor intellect, inquisitive and had ability to regenerate from injuries quickly. Adric's had too many other companions added on during his run with the Doctor Baker and Davidson. Donna Noble he Doctor Donna also died in a way but was sadly brought back in body only she was not even half the companion she had become during her turn as Tennant's companion
Rory got me more than amy. When Rory disappeared I burst into tears and i was like holy shit he died alone in a unfamiliar timezone and when amy disappeared it felt better because they were happy together. However, when the doctor was reading the last page and she wrote about how she wanted him to go the girl who waited and tell all the stories omfg. I was crying hard.
As amazing and legendary Sara Jane, Rose, and Amy were and still are. I feel really sad that to my knowledge the doctor never sees Susan again. The doctors granddaughter, The first companion, The first to say goodbye.
I hated amy's and rory's death because they were great companions and the just got killed by a stray that they happend to just 'miss out', they could have died in so many different cooler ways lol
Amy/Rory ,Donna, Susan, Adric,Tegan,Perri were the saddest Also the mood changes between them were extremely weird like the sad susan exit and the capt Jack kissing The doctor contrast
Wilfred's goodbye, out of all of them, was to me the most heartfelt. ...believe me, i cried buckets for every goodbye in NewWho and I've started the old series to break my heart a few more times, but WILFRED... 7:06 - 7:16... just.. just.. gahhhh!!!
It started out simply them parting ways and saying goodbye but then it got more and more depressing. The worst for me was 1. Amy and Rory 2. Donna 3.Rose 4.Clara
I’ve been watching dr who since I was a kid, and it’s really changed who I am today, the constant reminder of lost friends and old accomplices over the ages has influenced me to change my opinion on the whole friendship stuff, to anyone with a close friend who may leave at any point, just remember that they will remain in your heart and you shan’t forget them, as Patrick troughton once said in the tomb of the cybermen, “when I want to remember my family, I do and when I think of other things, they lay dormant in my heart and mind”
I was very sad when Barbara and Ian left. They had a happy goodbye though but those 2 were great companions. Very underrated. Kinda sad they weren’t shown their exit in this video.
There’s some companions and allies you’ve forgotten to include. There was the Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart scenes. The one in Battlefield episode with the 7th Doctor. And even as the Cybernan in that Season 8 episode. With Peter Capaldi when The Doctor salutes him after saving Kate. The Brigadier did partly travel with The Doctor. Even the Osgoods had a part when they said goodbye to The Doctor.
Tom Kenning There have been talks about bringing Rose and meta-crisis 10 back for an episode, and they could easily bring back the married couple of Martha and Mickey
Both Rose Tyler and Amelia Pond's goodbyes from the show broke my heart bigtime. But the biggist thing that broke my heart was when David Tennant left the show saying" Idon't want to go".
