In terms of you saying this is the first time he's referred to himself as a Dad. He's actually done it before a couple of times. In The Doctor's Daughter, he has a conversation with Donna and mentions he's been a father before and in Listen. When he puts child Danny to sleep with his mind he says, "Dad skills", which I thought the line at the beginning of this episode was actually a reference to that but is more likely a coincidence .
Another spot on review Chimp. Loved this episode. Moffat does what he does best, sets an intense scene so quickly and in a short space of time has you enthralled. This actually gave me goose bumps how intense it was. Loved seeing the more serious side to the 15th. Not felt this enthralled or passionate about an episode in a while.
@@tillyt4054 Don't know how you conclude that. I was on the edge of my seat the whole episode. Has it been that way every episode? No. Ncuti hasn't been the problem when that has been the case. Is he a fresh take on the Doctor? Hell yeah. In my opinion, a welcome one. YMMV
Loved it. Been loving it since the 60th. The worst an episode has been so far to me is “perfectly serviceable” Doctor Who, which I don’t mind at all, when the majority of the episodes are stellar and so varied so far. I have faith in RTD’s finale, his finales are always emotional and big and may not be the clever complex machinations some people might want, but at worst they’re brilliant and at best they’re the best thing you’ve ever seen. I love series 1 and series 2’s, series 3 has the weakest resolution but incredible build up and series 4 is literally Avengers long before Avengers. I don’t know what to expect from Empire of Death but I know it will make me feel things and we’ll get answers to much of these captivating story threads. Also, 73 Yards looks to be this series’ Midnight. This series’ standout standalone. RTD at his strongest. He certainly thinks it is. (I hope I don’t eat these words but I have faith.)
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I laughed, I cried, I yelled at the screen, I cared about the characters... it was like coming home (for a whovian anyway). I enjoyed the previous episodes, don't get me wrong, but there was a little something missing. Boom de-li-vered! 💥 I really hope we get to see a glimpse of the damage John Vater does to Villengard, as well as what happens on the planet now the war is over.
See, I thought it was that, with her being 3000 odd years in the future and everyone she's ever known technically being long dead, who do you choose then?
That’s… how most landmines work, as I understand it. Stepping on them activates it, stepping off it detonates it. It’s not a setup unique to Steven Moffat.
I think this story is helping realise I may actually be a bigger fan of Moffat than I think I am because I adored this episode. The others in Gatwa’s era were all a little middling in my view but this was exactly what I was after, easily knocked it out of the park
The premise was strong for about 25 mins and the it just became a convoluted mess. Moffat like Davies is way past his prime and the ratings were 2.04 million the worst ever. Its more of a general reflection in the deline og the BBC overall.
Those views don’t take into account the full 19 hours each episode is released prior to the episode being released on TV through BBC One. Essentially we’re trying to discern overnight figures when 19 hours have already passed. We need to wait for the 7 day figures to show which will include the entire viewing figure data including the 19 hours the overnight doesn’t take into account.
You only count if you watched it during the live broadcast on Saturday evening. I hardly know anyone who watches TV like that anymore certainly not Doctor Who fans. I watched it on iPlayer shortly after it started airing on live TV, I've no idea whether that counts or not.
Consolidated ratings won't be in for a while. The only people invested in the ratings at broadcast are those pushing the demise of the show because it's "too woke". i.e. Shit heads.
He listens to the Fandom Menace types “review” these episodes. My guess is that he hasn’t watched a single minute of the new series. He like a sheep listens to the fandom menace, and like a mindless puppet follows their lead on how an episode is.
