Lads we have been having a title synching issues since 2014 when capaldi became the doctor. It bugged me then, and what I learned since then is that they don’t really care about structure. And after 10 years there’s really nothing else to do but let go and take it in your stride.
Well this just seems wrong. The Boom intro was actually in sync. The music was timed properly with the appearance of the logo which seems most important.
@@FawzanSiddiquiWell, personally, i prefer the "Boom!" way of syncing it. Plus, why are the specials suddenly the staple of intros? I thought a lot of people had a problem with them?
@@scaleofperspective6211 A lot of people do, but if you listen closely, you can see that the visuals and audio are synced intentionally; for example, the point at which the TARDIS surfs the time vortex anti-clockwise coincides with the theme, as does the spinning of the TARDIS across the screen to reveal the actors’ names. RTD has stated that he was encouraged to remove a shot of the Doctor and the companion from the title sequence, hence the unconventional sync, but that does not mean it is inherently wrong, nor that the syncs these days are not erroneous.
@@FawzanSiddiqui I wasn't talking about the surfing of the TARDIS, those moments HAVE to be synced, but the title appearance works much better as it is in Boom
@@scaleofperspective6211 I disagree. The appearance of the logo in Boom occurs too late, resulting in the theme being extended in a manner that feels quite unnatural.
There are two points we want to be in sync, but they can't be together. In the episode, the TARDIS "spins" were out of sync with those string runs, but the title appeared in sync with the crescendo. This video corrects the spins but now the title appears too early.
If you are referring to the logo and not the episode title, in my version, the logo emerges at approximately the same point as in the 2023 specials; in previous title sequences, it appears in sync with the crescendo, but the way the RTD2 era title sequence is meant to be synced is different.
@@ashleysherlock5705 The logo is not meant to be synced with the crescendo anymore, since a shot of the Doctor and the companion in the TARDIS was cut; I do not have a problem with the logo appearing earlier than usual, since the manner in which the audio and visuals have been synced in New Who title sequences has never been consistent, to begin with.
@@ashleysherlock5705 I know that the logo was originally meant to be synced, but my point is that it need not be synced now, given that it was not intended to be after the shot of the characters was cut.
The title sequence has been in and out of sync so much since Series 8, that I'm pretty sure there ISN'T a right way to sync it. Most of the time, I'm too busy in awe of the visuals and bopping to the music to care.
I am sorry, but this is just false. If you are musically inclined, it is easy to discern when the theme and visuals are synced intentionally, and when they are not. For instance, in the Capaldi era openings, the Doctor Who logo is meant to play later than in previous title sequences, as indicated by the sound and visuals coinciding at the beginning of the clockwork segment, the spiralling clock part, and the moment at which the TARDIS zooms away with a flash, whereupon the actors’ names appear. The fact that you have acknowledged that this particular title sequence was out of sync suggests that you know there was a right way to sync it. Similarly, the 2023 specials are synced with specific points of visual and aural synthesis; though this may differ from how previous title sequences have been synced, it is nonetheless manifestly intentional. You may not care about the minutiae, but that does not change the fact that the title sequence can be, and frequently is, out of sync.
@@FawzanSiddiqui it was. it’s clear they wanted the music to end just before it switched back to the next scene so it didn’t feel so sudden unlike the last two episodes which were heavily out of sync. If anything, this time it was off by a literal second but each cut lines up with the theme still.
@@nathxn05 That may be the case, but that does not change the fact that it is objectively out of sync as a result of the modifications; if you pay attention to how the visuals align with the music in the 2023 specials, this should be clear.
I noticed in Boom specifically, the sting is before the intro. Is it even out of sync in Boom? I can't actually tel other difference between this and Boom. How many seconds did you offset the intro music by? Because either way, it is a small difference
I can say you did make the whoosh sound happen as the TARDIS whooshes past to reveal Millie Gibson's name, which the original didn't, but the original has the logo appear closer to where it should appear if the logo was actually in sync with the music, so I don't actually know which is more in sync
The sting being before the intro does not mean it is in sync. The beginning of the theme itself should coincide with the moment the TARDIS starts surfing the time vortex anti-clockwise, which it does not in Boom; therefore, it is very much out of sync in the episode.
@@metalsonic17 I assure you that Boom's title sequence is not in sync. You may be comparing it to how previous title sequences have been synced, but the RTD2 era title sequence has a specific sync that differs from that of its predecessors.
I can't notice much difference, noticing if something is a slightly bit out of sync is not what I'm noticing watching a programme. I'm watching it for the story not for the strings being slightly off. Good video I just don't see much difference, I guess it's easy content
The minutiae of art matter deeply to me, so I feel compelled to create content like this. Of course, not everyone will notice every minor error, but a lot of people do; for us, correction is necessary.
The Devil’s Chord is the only episode of 2024 so far to have the visuals and audio of the title sequence in sync, but even then, the wrong theme is used.
