That works so Well; since when he says a similar line, in: 'The Night Of The Doctor,' it sounds more like a Tired Demand, then something he just came up with on the Spot. '8 Minutes? Well that's ages! I'll need a television, a couple of books, anyone for chess? Bring me knitting!'
Well, Eric Robert's is quite good on big finish. In Day of the Master, he meets the 8th doctor for the first time since the tv movie. But this clip shows the 8th doctor meeting the master for the first time since the events of the tv movie. But Macqueen's master is still better unless Eric Robert's master gets better character development in big finish.
This is such a good scene. In fact, in some ways, Masterplan is one of my favorite Master stories on audio. Because it's a great exploration of the Doctor's and the Master's relationship, and how far each of them is prepared to go to win. Plus, Macqueen is just so fantastic as the Master, especially against Paul McGann's Doctor.
This jibes with a lot of my theories regarding the Doctor/Master relationship. Both picked names that had positive connotations. The Master is meant in the old fashioned sense, like a school master. Their interpersonal friction also makes sense. Their differing view points and their mutual disdain and admiration for each other too.
Oh yeah. This is why I love this episode, and McGann and Macqueen as the Doctor and the Master in general. They not only give great performances, but I love that their relationship is given a deeper look.
You could say that about most of the Masters NuWho and Big Finish is probably the first time the IP has ever bothered to even admit what order the Masters even come in xD
Who? The guy in the jacket is Paul McGann - the little televised but massively active and popular in the Big Finish run Eighth Doctor. Also known for his portrayal of William Bush in Horatio Hornblower. The guy in the suit is Alex MacQueen who played opposite Peter Capaldi in The Thick of It and currently plays an incarnation of the Master in the Big Finish run. It's been joked that he and Capaldi both chose Doctor Who for their next role - Capaldi picking the televised version and MacQueen choosing the radio version.
Robertjustafan okay here’s how the Timeline goes: The 13th Master is burned on Terserus and as a result has to find other ways to extend his life which would include possessing bodies, this was not the same as regeneration however as when he would lose those bodies he would just revert back to his 13th self. After the Master loses the Bruce body after the TV movie he is eventually gifted a new regeneration cycle by the Timelords (the first incarnation of this new cycle being the Master shown in this video). He later regenerates into The “Yana” body (or the war master as he’s more well known now) Who then hides out at the end of the universe in Utopia and regenerates into Simm
@@EditedAF987 o ok although I never know why the time Lord's would give him more lives knowing what they know of the master. I'm kinda partial to the John simm master he played evil well.
