Don't forget us Irish! We don't have any B&M stores, and the previous sets on eBay went for a minimum of €40 for each of them, and they usually went higher than even that.
3:19 that made me laugh 😂 well in all fairness Matthew a wise man did once say “there’s no point in being grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes.”
Great video, I was hoping to see you reviewing these sets. The only thing I kind of wish you'd done was show a comparison between the old and new figures, see how different the paint apps look, but that's just me. I have the original release of this figure, I got one for christmas last year, but the previous owner must have left him in direct sunlight a lot, because his colouring looks quite noticably yellowed compared to my DIOE dalek, and I think the two should be the same colour. It also meant the Planet supreme's lights were more orange than purple, but I was just pleased to have the set. The genesis one was absolutely fine. I'm looking forward to getting two brand new un-sunbleached versions of this dalek.
I need this set. I love the variation on the eyestalk piece and I am a big fan of the identification markers as I never knew the original props had them
@@rattybarnett it's not that spot though, it genuinely has the sculpt for the SFX pressure panel circuit board with screw holes too. I think they adapted the SFX dalek sculpted for non SFX daleks. It may have corrected imperfections on the original dead planet dalek which does feel different like it's more brittle and it's a tad wider by a micro amount the same for the bronze daleks and others. The pipes connecting internal screws are located beneath other bumps.
I hope they do more versions of the 1960s Daleks like with the flame thrower, the mutant scoop and all the others. They actually should realise a mix and match sex with the different coloured lights, the different eyes, the different guns, shoulder slats, and the different manipulation arms. And when can they get things fixed out with the movies and made movie daleks? And a transparent dalek from the 80s And an emperor dalek?
7:56 Adorable. I’m not one for the B&M Sets but I’m almost 100% sure that I’ll be getting both these Dalek sets (especially because I don’t have an Invasion of Earth Supreme) and who knows, I might get more then 1 “The Daleks” set. I’ve got 5 Invasion of Earth Drones so I don’t need anymore of them but I have only got 3 “The Daleks” Daleks and I do want to make some customs so who knows
Fantastic review Matthew, love how these Daleks pop shining, shame about the quality control issues with the hemispheres it'll be interesting if that's for everyone or just your version. Hilarious jokes in this btw, as the 4th doctor would say, there's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes!
And I forgot to mention that my work mate and his wife are huge fans and still buy figures... and he's into his 60's. If you love something then you just love it. 👍
Been waiting and hoping you would get an advanced set. Your reviews are far superior to some others that I shant mention. Good job and look forward to you getting the rest of the wave 😁
Hoping to acquire these. I actually once bought the original release of the Dead Planet Dalek, but buying it from a bootsale was a poor choice, especially since it was missing an eyestalk
That same type of eyestalk can be found on some of the early releases of generic ‘60s Daleks, like the set for The Chase or the flamethrower Dalek. Those ones are much easier to get a hold of than a Dead Planet Dalek, so you could use one to replace the eye.
B & M dont yet have them where I'm at, been popping in every week for a month to check. They just have the doctor dalek sets still. The eyes on the SFX dead planet daleks are the wrong ones, they are the Evil/power/DIOE eyes with the lesser rings, weird they put those on them like how they misplaced the chase daleks with the dead planet dalek eyes. Criss cross there. Cant wait to get these sets, been needing another DIOE drone and supreme. My old supremes "top hat" joint has snapped so i cant screw in the dome firmly enough to twist it, I can replace it but I dont want to cut it open and snap the pipes inside. This is an extremely welcome release. I love it soooooo much! The eye on the supreme is also narrowed like the dead planet one and its coloured black too, this is a super win for dalek collectors!!!
I had two dalek 2's in my set! I'm into my 50's now and still buying them. I don't care, I've been a fan since the age of around 7 My partner doesn't have a problem at all with my collection. Enjoy I say! Life is too short and I'm running out of regenerations. 😏
I was thinking about the revision waves the last couple of years and the Dalek sets this year strike me as the prime contenders with prop numbers 3&4 replacing 1&2 and the Pilot colours replacing the Commander. So decision is do I grab two of each straight away as I was thinking of and customising a pilot or stick to one of each and gamble on a revision version later.
EvolutionPR send them to ppl with followings. You can email them to get on their mailing list if you can provide pics of your social media and have what they deem enough followers.
I might get one for my dad because this was the first episode of Doctor Who he ever saw But I might not because I customised a Pilot Dalek and removed the big base to look like a Dead Planet Dalek with a dish at the back
Not keen on the idea of adding authentic weathering. I like my Daleks to be more idealised versions, I dread to think what they'll do with the future "Destiny" sets
I'd love to start collecting these in order, but amazon only has sets 2 & 4, I looked up the rest on ebay, severe price gouging, also I've been having trouble accessing ebay for some reason.
I hope this isn't going to be like the dalek collectors sets were we only got 2 sets. I know 4 sets straight away that I'd love to see and many others would I'm sure. 1.) resurrection of the daleks supreme with drone 2.) Planet of the daleks supreme with drone 3.) Day of the daleks supreme with drone 4.) Remembrance of the daleks supreme with drone. Can anyone ad to this? 😄
@@JackWolf10 I was more thinking the black supreme, we only ever got that In the now very rare and expensive remembrance of the daleks set. So happy I got that new as a kid and kept it sealed and mint
Let's hope this trend continues... would be a great opportunity to re-release the sought after Supreme Daleks from Planet, Resurrection and Remembrance and the Imperial, Destiny and Death daleks without having to pay eBay prices...
Being in the States all Doctor Who figures my be difficult to find. There is only one physical place, Who North America. Until you’re hands came into the shot those Daleks looks a lot bigger.
Only one Dalek in the show ever had the Camera Lens fitted to the Iris, and that was Dalek 3, not 2 like CO implies. I’m a little irritated as to how they claimed they were going to go as authentic and accurate as possible, and yet they designate Dalek 2 with the contracted iris, and they also should’ve given Dalek 1 a clear gun. CO has fallen flat on their face trying to go the extra mile, and still getting it wrong...
Geeker Things if it bothers you so much just add the extra line. Don't scold the entire set just because there is a tiny black line missing on one of the DALEKS!
I don’t blame them for giving Dalek 2 the moving iris instead. Otherwise it it would just be a bit confusing. “This first Dalek is labellled 1. This second Dalek is labeled 3.” Also, only the rods were clear on Dalek 1, not the barrel. Looking at it from afar, it looks more silver than it does clear. That level of detail isn’t really possible for the toy, and making the entirety of the gun clear would just stick out like a sore thumb.
If you ever do action figure adventures again, I can say I do a quite good Dalek voice. I use the Dalek Voice Changer App and used it to make a short action figure film in college, which is only 10 seconds of footage granted but I was limited to time and some of it wasn't that good, just technical faults. But its on my channel if you want to have a look
The circle around the bump is because it is covering us a screw that holds the two parts of the body together. If you used pliers you could pull it off. This is present on all DALEKS.
Not all Daleks, only the FX Daleks onward. The circle is where the newer tooling could be swapped out to have either the button hole or regular bump. The screw plug is the rear upper corner bump above it.
I work at B and M and am a MIB collector. I have collected few sets of daleks have to say i think this set the paint apps are sloppy on these and have a made in hongkong with superglue mass produced look to them. And they would be better with two varients and not two the same. The sonic screwdrivers are a bit overpriced to i think just my opinion though.
The manufacturing quality just isn’t what it was. I have the original 1963 style Dalek that got issues in a pack with William Hartnell. The paint work is better, the modding lines aren’t nearly so obvious and the joins are fitted much more closely. But these are nice figures nonetheless.
