Yeah the eyestalk discs have always been a lighter blue tone to the hemispheres, whilst the spheres generally get darker as the 60s goes due to repaint and different brands of paint the discs themselves are the same brand of perspex so remain consistent, so by Master Plan to Evil it really is a stark contrast with the two blue tones. iirc it's only NuWho's Series 7 and 9 where they give their retro 60s Dalek props the darker blue eye discs that match the spheres.
@@batmanmarch See I'm really keen to see what they do for Power-Evil, we might actually get the much darker blue tone for those, where it's very close to the Mechanus Blue (and hopefully the original shoulder grey or something just a tad more darker)
Since we've gotten the HOTD Sets from B&M and the Jungles of Mechanus Set from Character Online, since they're focusing on Daleks could we get a Character Online Mechonoid set where it comes with two of them? I'd love that, and since they're not Daleks I think Character Online would be a good home for a set like that, especially since they've now done two Chase sets recently
Awesome review as always mate! In episode 3 of The Chase inside the Dalek spaceship, you can actually see three of the movie Daleks, all three have the bases removed and have the smaller dome lights. It's in episode 5 when theres two of them, but thats when they have the bases and larger dome lights back on. I only noticed because i was rewatching the chase last night so i knew how many sets i'd have to buy from B&M today aha.
the drone in this set kind of is the one with the silver eyestalk, because part way through the story they painted the eye black on the silver eyed one, but they used a matt black instead of the gloss black of the other daleks, so that is kind of what this dalek is. I'm not sure about the grey, I don't mind it being lighter than the old grey, but I think this is a touch too light, I'd be happy with somewhere halfway between the two, but of the two colours I do prefer the old grey, I'd say. It's not a dealbreaker, and I don't currently have the standard slatted 60s dalek, I have an evil guard, and a bunch of dead planet and DIOE daleks, but no slatted drones, so it's a welcome addition.
@@batmanmarch I mean it's possible that that was unintended, but I'm definitely going to tell myself that they did it on purpose. I'll be interested to see what the finish on the eyes of the other dalek set are like.
The back of the box is wrong about two new props being made for the chase. Only one immobile prop (dalek 7) was made, with daleks 1 (still with dioe eyestalk), 2 (with a new set of shoulders and dead planet eyestalk), 5, and 6 covering the main bulk of scenes. Daleks 3 and 4 remained at Barnado’s as stated on the back of the box.
I would quite like to see a History Of The Daleks Set #2.5 & #3.5: Set #2.5 - The Space Museum = The Museum Dalek & the Silver Eye Dalek Set #3.5 - Mission to the Unknown = The UOCL Supreme Dalek & a Drone Dalek on a thick base I know it won’t happen but one can dream
Well there are some amazing people out there who do incredible customs. Maybe find someone like that then pay them to do a screen accurate dalek of your choice. You dont need to dream it. Make it a reality.
It really annoys me that the mid section was painted whiteish grey, i want answers as to why, considering these are supposed to be very accurate what’s going on?
I really don’t like the very pale grey mid section. Having corrected the (very annoying) mistakes with the dead planet dome lights and nine eye ring configuration from the earlier Dalek/Mechonoid release, they’ve now added a glaring inaccuracy with the mid section instead!
Here is my idea for the next wave of B&M sets: 3-Packs: Companions of the 1st Doctor (Ian, Barbera, and Susan) Enemies of the 12th Doctor (The Master, Missy, Mondasian Cyberman) UNIT 1974 (Robot) (Sarah Jane, The Brigadier, Harry Sullivan) History of the Daleks sets: The Power of the Daleks (2 standard 60s Daleks) The Evil of the Daleks (2 Emperor Guard Daleks) Doctor/Tardis Set: The 6th Doctor and Tardis (Vengeance on Varos)
There's also a Dead Planet Dalek with egg cup dome lights, and in The Space Museum there is a Dead Planet Dalek with the Dalek Invasion of Earth eye stalk too
I was lucky enough to get two of the 'History of the Daleks set 3' and one of the 'History of the Daleks set 4' this time. I could not find the first two 'History of the Daleks' sets at all in the last B&M wave, so I was very happy to get these ones.
A whole month later my store finally got this in. And within 5 hrs I have hair dried the solar slats off and painted the white back to grey. Looks much better lol.
What annoys me the most about these new sets is the fact that you can't go around advertising these as accurate representations of the props and then decide to make them inaccurate for the sake of a variant even though by giving them new metallic paint and the accurate eyestalks and dome lights it automatically becomes a variant from the original as well as a huge improvement so in my opinion it was just completely unnecessary especially the smaller pupils since there are 2 different daleks in one set.
Androzani84 Productions yeah but they got it right the first time with the dead planet and invasion daleks, there was just no need to change the mid section.
I wonder if the gray on the shoulder section is suppose to be a call back to the Dapol Daleks being all in one color? Over all, I don't mind the set, though it would be funny if the drone Dalek was made in all one silver.
I actually like the white to be honest. When I first looked at it I dont know why but I thought of 'an adventure in space and time'. Do you think the Dalek could be from that?
Bit awkward seeing this come out since I had the Chase SFX Dalek and the flamethrower Dalek on my xmas list and my folks did NOT pay £20 for them...had to keep them quiet
Three props were borrowed. Two were used as the full Movie Daleks and two were used as the guard Daleks in the background of the scenes. So one prop was used for both parts and one each was used for different things.

I think the paler blue is more accurate. I've seen colour images of the 60's Daleks in the Ultimate Monster Guide. Gotta say, they look real pale. So yeah, more accurate imo. Personally, I don't mind the lighter grey. You could argue that in certain shots during some 60's Dalek stories, the lighting does make the mid section lighter but I will admit it is somewhat of a flimsy argument.

The nearest B&M store in my area haven't got the stocks yet. The products are on the system, though. I did call that B&M store and if the stock arrives, they'll put the two new Dalek sets aside for me to collect. So, I should be fine in collecting these sets, right?
I think they're trying to make them looked washed out, so parts are pale. but it makes no sense to me because the hemispheres are the same blue as before. but that's the only other thing I can think of to explain. these are my joint favourite designs and the shoulders ruin them for me... still buying 2 tho
With all these new figures that have come out, will you at all be doing any figure animations? Even just short films and that. Or did you move away from that sort of thing?
