50 years later the iconic Doctor Who logo that was a part of Tom Baker's title sequence for six years running has returned, and I wondered how the 1974-1980 intro might look with some modern touches taken from 2024.
On the whole I think this turned out pretty well. The logo fits into the diamond vortex perfectly and the new visuals overlayed onto those from the 70s have made quite a nice effect.
I wasn't sure what to do for the opening shot of the TARDIS flying through space. It's a great concept in the original but comes across as a bit of cardboard floating towards the camera (which it probably was, let's face it). I didn't want to just use a shot from the new intro because I think that would have taken away too much of the 1974 one, so instead I kept the time vortext TARDIS shaped but brought in a new TARDIS model in flight (from ttps:// • Doctor Who Stock Foota... ). I tried a few different things but I think this was the best version.
Besides the edited-in TARDIS, all footage and audio belongs to the BBC.
