The original title for this episode was "The Companion Who Couldn't" i think from my understanding RTD just wanted to create a random character to show whether he was companion worthy or not which has never been done before which of course proved Adam wasn't but i agree i did not see the actual point of it, the CGI has evolved since 2005 but i still think the Jagrafess is very creepy even the old bubblewrap monsters from Classic Who still scare me to this day. I think Simon Pegg would had made a great Doctor in another life.
That's a really good original title for the episode and probably would have made the episode make more sense in a way. If they had given more time to Adam then he could have made for an interesting story line of a companion that was bad. I do love the creepy old CG of the Jagrafess haha sometimes the old creepy stuff holds up really well! Pegg would have made a great Doctor or a great Time Lord in general in another life. That would have been very cool to see.
