That Christmas Special really did it for me. I have been watching Doctor Who for more decades than I care to admit (my first Doctor was Tom Baker, number 4, while he was travelling about with Leela and K9) and this really hit the spot. Ncuti Gatwa has me sold. With his next level charisma and Russel T Davies really bringing the whimsy and wonder of it all, number 15 could very possibly turn out to be my favourite Doctor yet! Fingers crossed. 2024 looks like it will be a great year for Whovians.
Hello, American here. I was born in 94, and never even heard of Doctor Who until the end of high school. Started on Eccleston, and got caught up right before the 50th Anniversary. Wild to think that was over 10 years ago. I’ve seen most of the Classic series, own the movie and all of the spin-offs, a handful of audios, and a couple dozen comics. Tom is my favorite Classic Doctor and Peter Capaldi is my favorite overall, but I’ve been absolutely loving every second Ncuti has been on-screen. He’s got the perfect amount of charisma and charm, and his Doctor has been pure fun to watch so far. He’s already shown range. I hope he’s the one to break the 3 season curse. I want 4 seasons minimum with Gatwa. He just got here, and I already don’t want him to go.
Love that classic Who fans are warming up to Ncuti already. Usually it takes a couple episodes for me to warm up to a new Doctor, but he hit the ground running right away
Yep my first story watched in full was Robots of Death in 1977, Tom was my favourite of classic with Matt Smith (Capaldi v close) in new Who. Have to say, I'm loving Ncuti too, so full of energy, charismatic and already showing such a range of emotions - plus dancing and singing in a typical Who Christmas themed episode - what more could you want lol - it was completely nuts, and i loved it! Sad the Goblin King met such an end, his ears wiggling when excited, lol - In summary, more please!

Pond - River - Flood? I agree that this episode had a bot of everything in it. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to finding out the reveals behind the breadcrumbs Russell laid in this episode for the seasons ahead.
We saw Melody grow up and then regenerate into our River, and then we saw that River die. So if it's River, it'd have to be a pre-Melody incarnation. And given how much she spent her life basically chasing the Doctor, it'd be weird for her to (a) not recognize the TARDIS immediately, and (b) not make a big deal when she saw the Doctor.
One Cut of the Dead. Honestly, it is the best Christmas present I can give to any fan of the zombie genre. The movie is one of the most unique and clever experiences. 100% RT for reasons. It has been a joy showing this movie to my RL friends and family since it's release, and watching their reactions face to face. Trying to convince my favorite RU-vidrs is just a bit frustrating. Knowing if they actually watch it, they can have the same amazing experience me, my friends, and my family have had watching this true gem of a movie. Hope you have fun with it!

( From Battlefield.) it was strongly implied that one day the doctor would be Merlin in another dimension. What if it’s time? Given that Merlin is a red-headed incarnation of the Doctor (according to the novelisation of Battlefield), it's not likely to be Morgaine. It's uncertain, but she could still be imprisoned along with Mordred after the events of Battlefield, but there's always a chance Ncuti can appear in an Arthurian romp, in future episodes/seasons.

Such a fun episode! I was a little worried for the future of Doctor Who, but this has me excited! Especially the tease of a character at the end that knows what the TARDIS is! I'm not sure if its just a throw-away joke or if its another TimeLord/Lady (The Rani mayhaps?) but either way, I'm excited to see what happens!
I'm more intrigued by the fact she said "A TARDIS" - not "THE TARDIS" - that hints at a wider knowledge of Time Lord technology than just somebody who has met The Doctor before!
@johna5635 And she seemed genuinely surprised that the old police box that randomly appeared on her street was a TARDIS. I think most people that had experience with the Doctor and that TARDIS would be suspicious if a police box showed up outside their house, not annoyed at their neighbours.

Forgive me if I'm lacking some pertinent Classic Who knowledge, but wouldn't anyone who'd met the Doctor before, and knew about TARDISes, have recognized the Doctor's TARDIS from the start? It makes me think she's someone new...

Great fun episode and good reaction maybe you don't know them or don't watch the soaps but you didn't seam to know that there was a few ex british soap actors and davina mccall in this christmas special, also knowing you are a queen fan I was surprised you didn't recognise anita dobson that played mrs flood is brian mays wife she was also a huge charecter on eastenders in the 80s angie watts

I have a one step plus, I’ve tried clicking the flash button I don’t know how many times . It ALWAYS takes with the flash on !! Only way to turn it off is to hook it up to my phone and use the app to take a pic .

A show like doctor who still having a dedicated audience all these years after its initial first season is a reflection of how well it reinvents itself and keeps up with modern times. A more depressing situation would be if the show had buckled and died . But that’s just my opinion !

In the first 60th special they gaslighted the doctor. By saying that he knows nothing and they know everything because he's a man and they're women. And then continue by saying a male presenting timelord knows nothing. And also later on ask a fucking alien what gender it is wtf is that bullshit

It's such a shame it's the lowest rated Christmas special ever. Oh well, I guess all the old school fans aren't too thrilled with all of the doctors history being retconned.. AND now they even changed the whole regeneration process.
The Christmas specials have always been a bit divisive and the shows still got a bit to go before those cynical lot finally get over it and can just enjoy the show, but of course there’s gonna be those stubborn lot who will refuse to enjoy it no matter what
Speaking as an old school fan of Doctor Who, I absolutely loved it. As for changing regeneration, that’s not at all what happened. The bi-regeneration was just a rare occurrence initiated by the Toymaker’s ability to distort physics and biology (the doctors even tell him, “you did this” after it happens). Regeneration will still continue as normal in the future.
Only my humble opinion, but, I've been watching Dr Who for almost 50 years and this was dreadful. Chibs as he shall be called, almost killed Dr Who, ejat with an origin story, woke stories and absolutely nonsensical story lines. Yes, there had to be a change, but for me, this was poor, very poor. I will stick with it, keep watching, but this Christmas episode was dreadful. As I say, only my personal opinion nd not wishing or wanting to offend
The show is fantastic. Can't wait for May and millions agree with me. Of course you don't, but that is FAAAAAR from an indication the series is ending. If anything it's stronger than ever.
